Random non sequitur posts catch-all thread

Whelp, it finally happened. The formerly 2-person newsroom I worked in, now 1-person newsroom, is now a zero-person newsroom. It's a zero-person newsroom because remaining reporter has kidney stones and in hospital. That temporarily shuts down 2 newspapers. Or permanently. So glad, I'm not there anymore.

Putting a Halloween-snack-sized Aero bar into my morning coffee was not as good as I expected. In fact I'm pretty sure it diminished the taste of my coffee.

Isn't that totally disappointing? I've done that, same result. The coffee ends up with little sludgy bits and no chocolate flavour. Blurgh.

I don't know what I did that offended you so Lord, but I apologize, I do.

Learning to Draw Update:

Do a picture once. Hate it at the time. Like, LOATHE it. Feel INCREDIBLY frustrated, wonder if you're spinning your wheels and this is something you just can't do.

Come back to it a week later, realize that, while it's not Albrecht Durer, it's not the dumpster-fire of crap and sadness you thought it was at the time.

Welcome to every song I have ever written, except the opposite.

Is there no emotional middle ground for creative types? As a reporter I either love what I've written or hate what I cobbled together out of decomposing body parts. I simply don't just 'like' what I've done.

Here's my typical creative process:

Day of completion: I AM A GENIUS
Day after completion: I am the dumbest person on the planet. Why did I ever think that thing was worth creating?
A couple weeks after completion: You know what, it's not too bad. It may not light anyone's toes on fire, but it's not bad. Almost good, even.

So...yeah. You're not alone.

Unfortunately, my memory is shot (that's why I write things down - hence being a reporter), so a couple of weeks later a reader will high-five me/yell at me for a story I had written which I forgot about.

Just realized how awesome an Assassin's Creed movie that V for Vendetta is.

I'm slightly embarrassed to be as through-the-roof amped about this as I am, but holy sh*t, Disney has released the entire run of "Gargoyles" streaming on their website.

I'm going to go revisit my enormous 12-year-old crush on Elisa Maza, see you guys later.

Hell yeah, that's awesome. They should do DuckTales too.

Mine's more like:

Day of work: You know, that could be better... *backspace* *backspace* *backspace*
Next Day: Meh, what's done is done from yesterday, but this... *backspace* *backspace* *backspace*
After Completing: That was satisfying. I think I accomplished something.
Months Later, when I actually read my finished work: This is utter tripe.

Interesting note, the actress who voiced her was Allison from Eureka. In addition to giving me inappropriate thoughts about a cartoon, she taught me about gun safety.

I mean, I love Legend of Korra, and it had some pretty mature themes and moments, but I will put down $10,000 saying that there is literally no way a kid's/YA cartoon show could get made today where one of the major protagonists gets shot. With a bullet. From a gun. And bleeds actual blood. No way that gets made. Much less put on at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Well, in America, anyway.

10 000 posts in this thread. That's pretty rad.

We're a little behind on the laundry. The only washcloths left in the closet were the Disney princess collection.

I had to decide if I wanted to clean my butt with Belle or Cinderella.

A decision for the ages.

And Belle, of course.

You're insane. Cinderella already has extensive cleaning experience, not to mention that all of the cinders coating her poorly dressed form act as exfoliants.

The only thing I can think of.

I kind of think I'm having a mid-life crisis, but because I'm broke it's pretty minimal. It could also just be boredom.

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored.
