Bacon

No, no, no. That is back bacon, from the loin cut, which here in the States we reserve for poor people and school children. There's barely enough fat there to clog your arteries, much less induce the massive coronary that is the checkered flag of the American dietary race. Proper American bacon is always pork belly, and preferably at least 50% fat, like this:

If you check a bit further down the page you'll see the streaky kind as well - it comes attached to the back bacon in one long piece..... the ultimate piece of bacon.

Also, what's with all the fat? It's not like beef where a good bit of marbling helps the cooking process.... less fat = better bacon. It's a fact.

[edit] Interestingly, since i linked it this morning the page has gone offline. I blame you fat-loving 'pseudo-bacon' eaters.... it's a conspiracy! Also... rind is good.

This thread inspired me to make bacon cornbread muffins this morning. They were good.

I made scrambled eggs with bacon bits this morning. Can't remember the last time I've made scrambled eggs.

Holy blessed Jesus can you send us a recipe? At least send us a picture of what that looks like buttered. Thank you Wineglass for telling me what to attempt for tomorrows breakfast.

Unfortunately, the muffins did not last long enough for pictures.

The recipe is really pretty simple. Make up some bacon and crumble it. Mix it into your favorite boxed corn bread muffin mix and cook according to the instructions on the box. Viola! Baconey corn bread goodness.

Careful, WineGlass. This flurry of posts may push you to get a tag before your six year mark.

Man, bacon is the finest vegetable known to man, but seeing people wear meat is not exactly a turn on. It's only a small step from that to making a suit out your grandmother.

It rubs the bacon grease on its skin or else it gets the hose again.

Slow and steady, my friend. Sloooow and steady What can I say? Bacon inspires me.

Bacon related content: Anyone tried or found a good but fairly moron-proof recipe for bacon brittle? I'm thinking that I need some bacon in the sweet candy side of my diet.

I ate at Cora's the other day (Canadian breakfast branch) and ordered their Panini Crepe with Bananas, Peanut Butter and you guessed it... BACON! Damn it was good.

Bacon Cereal

The quality of bacon on display there and in his ultimate bacon sandwich really shocks me.... please tell me that there is better quality bacon available over there for you. I know my Uncle always complains about there being no proper bacon in Canada but i always assumed that, what with all the bacon-loving going on in this thread, you had good bacon.... now i fear the worst. I already know that in the continental EU they have a poor understanding of what true bacon is... please don't tell me that more of the world is all the poorer for not having real bacon.

you can find bacon like that in canada but it just depends where you go for bacon.

OK, as a vegetarian, that's enough. Bacon is not a vegetable. It's not even fruit.

Now, carry on.

How dare you be so racist against baco-vegetarians?

Fruits are, according to one definition, vegetables that happen to also contain seeds. Obviously bacon isn't a fruit, but it is made from plants, if you follow the chain back far enough.

What possessed you to think that was a good idea?

Still, it's nice knowing the internet is as bad as my paranoia would suggest.

Why would you do that?
Anything with the word meat in it is potentially a hazard.

I just goodled it my eyes my eyes!

Anyone else fond of cold smoked bacon?

Also, for fine bacon connoisseurs, I give thee New Braunfels Smokehouse. Best bacon I've ever had. Their pork and turkey jerky is killer too.

My friend thought it'd be hilarious to google it.
It wasn't.
