Wow, way to get people moving on the Green Day DLC... songs from the new album!

Guh.

Well, they say more to come... I'd appreciate those "other" songs ASAP.

Yeah, seriously. I don't think anybody is waiting with baited breath for the brand new Green Day radio single.

On the one hand, I can't really blame them-- I'm sure they want this to serve as promotion for their new album. On the other hand, releasing these particular songs are about as exciting as finding out GNR's "Chinese Democracy" has arrived.

Let's just hope for a "Dookie" full album release sometime in the near future.

On the other hand... SPINAL TAP!

Oh good, Evanescence.

Although watching somebody try to sing 'Bring me to life' would be hella-amusing, because of that dude doing rap-rock backup vocals.

Amy Whatserface: Bring meeee...

Guy: BRING ME BACK!

Amy: ... toooo liiiiife

Guy: CAN'T WAKE UP!

And on the third hand, CRAPPY Spinal Tap.

This is exactly what I'm talking about... who the hell cares about these songs? Where is STONEHENGE? Hell Hole? Listen to the Flower People? Well, ANYTHING from the actual film? BAH.

It's marketing for their new album, but yeah, Stonehenge or flower people would be better. On the other hand, technically Saucy Jack was (slightly) in the movie.

Still, these guys are always funny, so I'm not opposed to new material from them.

When I sing, do I have to put a foil-wrapped cucumber down my pants?

As I said with Green Day, yeah, I get the marketing angle. I can't blame them. But for me Rock Band is about jamming to songs I know and love. I'd buy a "THIS IS SPINAL TAP" DLC album in a heartbeat. I'm NOT going to buy any of these songs because they have no meaning to me whatsoever. They might have funny lyrics, or be competent rock songs in their own right, but really, without all of the emotional connection to the film, I have no desire to PAY to play them.

If they want to give them away, awesome. Otherwise...

Fixed!

I'd love to have the actual movie soundtrack as dlc. "Big bottom, big bottom, talk about mud flaps my girl's got 'em"

You don't have to buy 'em you know, don't stress yourself out

Oh absolutely, this is totally inferior to a proper Spinal Tap DLC, but just saying it's not without some potential merit.

If I only played songs I already knew I wouldn't have discovered lots of great bands through Rock Band, not to mention songs I don't necessarily like to listen to, but love to play. That's why I like RBDLC as a way to find stuff that's interesting to play that I may not necessarily know or know well.

The problem with this is the singing. People will play guitar parts they don't know, and they'll drum songs they don't know, but almost nobody is willing to step up to the plate and try to sing a song they are unfamiliar with.

This is why I bought the Oasis track pack

Whoa, thanks for stepping in there... I assumed I was obligated to purchase them, due to my elevated stress levels!

With the glacial pace of DLC release, getting ANY DLC from a particular band (one that *I* really like) is an extreme rarity. Seeing sub-par or new material being released rather than older "classics" is a proverbial kick in the metaphorical crotch. No one is losing sleep over it, but it's disappointing.

Ranger Rick-- I get your point about using RB to find new bands to listen to. I've discovered a few older bands that I'd never really listened to before. But still. For my maximum enjoyment, I need to play songs I already know and love.

I guess this is where we differ; being able to put out at minimum 3 tracks a week (tediously editing masters and note charts, tweaking, re-tweaking, and user-testing) and often putting out whole albums is an incredibly fast pace. They're creating new content at an unimaginable rate for such a small company (especially considering they're working on the next game or games at the same time).

Even though maybe 20% of what they release is something I know/have listened to, probably 40-50% of it is something that is at least interesting/fun to play. I can't think of another game that gives me at least one new piece of content that's interesting to me every week or so.

You're going to have to get GH5 for that one.

Which is why I said "...of bands *I* like."

We can argue semantics, and YES, they release 5-8 or so songs a week, but given the massive amount of music I WANT, the stuff they release usually holds zero interest for me personally. I've gone months without buying a single piece of DLC. My comment only applies to the fact that I WANT classic Spinal Tap songs, and classic Green Day songs, but the slowish pace of releases means that we won't be seeing another major Spinal Tap release for a long, long time (if ever). It just makes me disappointed, is all.

I would really like Harmonix to start announcing upcoming DLC earlier than the Friday before it hits.

My reasoning is, with Guitar Hero 5 coming out, there are many bands that I want to play in that game. I don't like the charting in the Guitar Hero franchise, though. I really gave World Tour a shot because they got Springsteen, but the charting didn't "feel" like you were playing along with the music.

If Harmonix would let us know which Guitar Hero 5 bands they have in the pipeline for DLC it could stop some of us, namely me, from purchasing GH5 and saving our money for more Rock Band songs.

Also, without a full game release this year, are they going to start cranking up the A-list artists or are they relying on Beatles:Rock Band?

By the way, I am now 9 for 9 on free Pepsi/Rock Band songs. Greatest. Promotion. Ever.

I have yet to see any Pepsi products with a Rock Band logo.

Is this only on the throwback stuff, 1-liters, or 20 Oz products?

I only ever buy 2-liter Pepsi Max and haven't seen anything special about the bottles I have opened. I wanna get some free songs too but unfortunately I only drink diet soda now.

I live in Rochester, NY which isn't all that far from Michigan.

I've only seen them on the 20oz. bottles from the Lunch Truck at work, and only on regular Pepsi. Luckily, the people at work who drink it don't play Rock Band so I get all their caps.

Just bought a 20 Oz diet Wild Cherry Pepsi from the cafetorium here at work with a yellow cap. Got my first code. Used my Yahoo! account to redeem and just got "Hymn #43" by Jethro Tull for free.

Can't wait to go raiding the recycling bin for bottle caps.

Good Bad Religion song choice. I'll probably grab that one. I like the Underoath song too (he said, half-ashamedly).

Well. There are a bunch of songs that pose no danger to my wallet.

Yay Maroon 5!!!!

Not.

If you are not grabbing the Bad Religion song, then you have no soul.

Never been a fan of Bad Religion. I know that makes me a bad person, but souless? Now I might have to do something.

Oh wait! I don't care if I have a soul or not. Cool.

I agree with all of this...

Do you guys play online? I tried it with a friend the other day and it's so much f*cking fun! We always played with friends only.

I was surprised at the amount of Expert singers out there, it's incredible! One chick belted out the hardest songs we could throw at her (More than a Feeling and spoonman and all those), I wish I could hear the singer thru xbox live.

She quit when someone chose "Down with the sickness", and I understand that song sucks =/

I saw they had Toby Keith and Brooks and Dunn on the list of downloadable songs. The only downside is to get the bundle you have to buy a Dixie Chicks song.

Curse you, Rock Band! I haven't got the money to buy you, or the room to store your instruments, or even a place to play you where you won't wake my daughter up, but I covet you so!

After checking this thread (which I haven't done in awhile) I was SO excited to seee some Iron Maiden tunes! Then I realized I don't want to spend $18 dollars or so to get an album I can't even listen to in the car. The songs are absolutely amazing too ... guess I'll just crawl back to LoTRO and Fable 2 heh
