Ricky Turcios calls for world peace after a rad victory. I’m an instant fan.

that anorexic Polish lady

Dude, really?

She said it was my Rose Namajunes’ fault that she was sexually abused as a child. That anorexic Polish lady can f*ck right off.

I'm more referring to using an eating disorder as an insult. Bit of a shitty thing to do and isn't great to see for those of us who are either personally affected, or have loved ones who suffer an eating disorder. There's a billion ways to insult Joanna that you could have gone with, so might be worth considering why that's the one you chose and are still committed to.

It's an especially weird insult to give to someone who's in a sport that actively rewards being as low weight as possible.

True. I see your point.

Feels weird: been an MMA fan since the 90s on and off…attended a UFC in person for my first time tonight. It was cool but I really prefer a sports bar that has good food instead.

Is this a place where boxing can be discussed? There doesn't seem to be a boxing forum.

If so, did anyone see the Canelo fight or was everyone watching 268?

I suppose we could have a Combat Sports thread since this one has largely slowed to a crawl? One thread to rule them all? I dunno, seems like GWJ is aging and/or moving away from interest here.

I didn't watch the Canelo fight, but did catch some highlights. One of the things that struck me was Canelo's speed and the brutality of his punches, especially to the body. He really looked impressive, maybe because he was against an overmatched opponent? Regardless, it got me thinking about where his career fits in the grand scheme of things and, as a super-casual, I'm finding him much more impressive than his recent peers. After seeing these latest highlights all I could think about was how many KO's he's got on his resume compared to someone like...ugh...Mayweather. Is Canelo better than Mayweather? I'm leaning toward Yes (prisoner-of-the-moment and all that).

Canelo will never be able to say that he is better than Mayweather simply because he lost to Mayweather earlier in his career. I think 2013? I think current Canelo is better that a prime Mayweather. Canelo is one of the only reasons I keep up with boxing, and there is no one that I know of that can match him.

What still impresses me about Canelo is his endurance. In round 11 Canelo was moving like it was round 2. His tendency to get a late start has a lot to do with that, I'm sure. I'd wager Plant threw more punches in the first round than Canelo did in the first 3.

Nah. Early career loss isn't the same as body of work and Canelo's is looking better by the year. Again, not a boxing aficionado, just some guy on the internet.

Oh I agree 100% but that's always going to be held over his head whenever the GOAT conversation is brought up.

I can edit the title to reflect the change to Combat Sports if people want...

Maybe something clunky so it works well with search engines? E.g. “Combat Sports, MMA, Martial Arts Catch-All”…

Catch-Wrestling All? Just kidding.

Combat-All?

Combat Sports Catch all?

We Like To Watch People Pound All

Leon Edwards with the out of nowhere KO inside a minute of R5 of a fight he was going to lose.

Shades of Anderson's triangle of Chael back in the day.

It reminded me of Masvidal vs Askren in that I looked away for a few seconds and missed everything.

No disrespect to Kamaru, but I love that Leon got the win - a huge underdog victory. Get some respect on his name, finally. Maybe the inevitable rematch will be in the UK with Darren Till and Paddy Pimblett on the card?

I'm also happy that Tyson Pedro got the win. Not much more than a tune-up fight, I guess, but I want to see him do great things. He's moved to City Kickboxing in NZ full-time, so hopefully that helps the bad fight IQ he's shown previously.

And Rockhold continuing to be Rockhold... By the end of the first round I was wishing he'd hang his gloves up - it's sad to see him go, but let's be honest, it's long overdue.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson dead from a rare disease (tied to a kind of lymphoma?) at 38.

Loved watching him fight.

Lots of tributes coming in about his character.

There are also several accusations of partner violence in his past.

I can't stand Dana. I can't stand Joe Rogan. I can't stand what Endeavor represents.

But I still love combat sports.

ONE FC gives me something I can follow. Prime gives me a chance to watch high level martial artists do their thing.

For old schoolers (Franklin/Silva1 was 18 yrs ago!), Rich Franklin is on the color commentary on Prime.

That's not the right youtube link you intended? But yes, MMA is great...Dana and the UFC decision-makers keep me from watching or spending money on it at all.
