Yea it was nice to see Garcia get beat down like that. He's gotten so many free gift decisions that it's getting kind of sickening.

From what I'm told, he's actually a really nice guy.

I am, however, glad that Zombie didn't leave it up to the incompetent judges again.

Garcia always gets beat down like that. That's his thing.

But that twister that the zombie put on him --- that was impressive. I half expected Garcia's spine to pop out of his body in a sort of reverse Aliens or something.

Update: Ryron and Rener Gracie do a nice job of breaking down the Twister. Keep watching for their explanation of how Amir pulled off his beatdown.

Second page?!?!

Well, Diaz's striking has improved, at least somewhat. Still has a few holes, but seeing Daley get knocked around certainly was a treat.

Picks people, I demand picks!

I don't see anyway GSP loses this fight. Shields has a great ground game, but his main strategy is to take people down and grind them for what seems like an eternity. I don't think that he has the skills to do that to GSP, especially with how he looked against Kampmann.

Jose Aldo by TKO(broken legs). In all seriousness, Hominick is a game opponent but I don't see him taking out Aldo.

And for the strangest matchup of the year: Randy Couture v. Lyoto Machida. This is going to be the unpopular vote, and I'm not even sure why I'm taking it, but Randy by UD, 29-28. For some reason I can just see Randy putting him up against the cage and grinding out the victory. He'll probably get knocked out, but that's my pick and I'm sticking to it!

Shields is good on the ground but the UFC is marketing machine is doing what it always does and is playing it way up beyond where it really is. It wasn't that long ago that Shields was about 3 seconds away from tapping to an RNC from Mayhem Miller of all people.

Hominick is waaaaay out of his league here, he's going to get absolutely smashed, but it should at least get a lot of eyes on Aldo who is criminally under recognized right now.

Couture is past due, he can't take a shot anymore (every punch that has landed on him in his last say 4 fights has wobbled him) so I don't think he's going to last long in there against Machida. Machida has also surprised everyone who has tried to grapple with him as to how strong he actually is. He doesn't look like the biggest strongest guy around but when he gets his hands on someone he ragdolls them almost every time. So I really don't see how Randy wins this, he isn't going to outstrike him and I don't think he can outgrapple him either.

Rooting for GSP to win so the Nick Diaz match could possibly happen, champion vs champion. As for the Randy/Machida fight I'm leaning toward Machida only because Randy is being vocal about retiring again.

I think Diaz would get smacked around. The only people he's fought have been UFC rejects for the past 5 years.

I agree and I would so love seeing that happen!

Exactly. Any time a Diaz brother gets the snail snot beat out of him is an evening of good family entertainment.

Who here wants to see a Bisping vs. Sonnen fight? The battle of the heels.

They're rumored to be the coaches for the next season of Ultimate Fighter. The trash talk should be outstanding!

So, I wound up watching this in bits and spurts at work(slow night). Anyway, the GSP fight seemed disappointing, standup feints with the occasional telegraphed right hook from GSP, and solid defense from Shields, although he took a couple of solid shots early.

What was good, albeit short, was the Machida-Couture fight. Couture got knocked the hell out with that kick.

I only got to watch the prelims and have to say that the Diaz fight was deeply and sincerely satisfying. Three belly to back suplexes? That third one where he piledrove Nate's head into the mat was truly vicious.

Yep, I caught those too, absolutely incredible.

It was awesome. I saw clearly in the last two he was really trying to drive the head into the mat. The 2nd one he but is forearm onto Diaz' head to add a little oomph. Also, it was strangely satisfying to see a Diaz brother get his ass handed too him. No matter what he tried, MacDonald had an answer for him, and pretty much controlled the fight all three rounds.

And as for GSP. Once again, his game plan to completely fight to avoid the strengths of the opponent worked. Granted, he did 3 rounds with one eye being blinded...

Anyone see the blatant eye pokes by Shields? Hard to justify a fully extended hand to the eye.

I heard that it happened a few more times afterwards, too. This wasn't a single event.

Well that sucks. Now the main event is Ramapge v. Hamill. At least it'll end in a KO.

A KO of the audience maybe as they pass out from sheer disinterest.

One of the worst main events ever, they should shunt this card to Spike TV and call it a fight night.

Or ditch Hamill and insert Rashad for a rematch.

I think Rashad is still recovering from his injury.

I think that Rampage will knock Hamill out, no matter how much I want to see the underdog win.

With the latest injuries, I don't see any point in watching any UFC event until the Faber fight. I would not be surprised if the Strikeforce UFC merger (that has not be announced) will be accelerated. The strikeforce heavyweight tournament is the only thing in the near future that I have any real interest in.

After pulling out of his fight with Rashad Evans (to get surgery on his hand that he said didn't affect his striking or grappling) newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and his management have announced that he will not be having the surgery after all. Jones claims he saw several specialists who said to have the surgery, but then saw one the day before surgery who was all like, "nah it's cool bro. You can totally fight with that."

So now Jones will be making his first title defense soon, but against who? Evans vs. Davis is still on for UFC 133 and Evans will presumably get his title shot again if he beats Davis, but as of now we don't know who will be next for Jones. Maybe Rampage if he wins next weekend.

I don know how invasive the procedure is or how bad the injury is. I just hope he heals in the best way possible to see many more Jones fights. Rashad is always going to talk smack, I hope he doesn't let that influence his decision.

Alright, pick em! Who wins?

I'm taking Rampage over Hamill. If Rich can take him out, so can Rampage. Unless Matt puts on some sort of wrestling clinic.

Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson is tough. Both have good striking, good ground games(although I think that Roy Nelson has an advantage in that department). I want to pick Frank, but Roy should significant toughness in his last fight. I think he can handle Frank's striking even if he can't handle JDS's.

This is ridiculous, folks! Second page of Sports? We're like the Gary Coleman of this section!

Okay, Carwin hits JDS with one of his lunchbox fists and puts him down. Kenflo finishes Nunes via GnP. Demian Maia might actually submit Munoz, if Munoz tries to wrestle him down. We'll see how that goes. Munoz has some vicious ground and pound that could really work for him but staying away from Maia's triangle could be hard. Donald Cerrone via Cowboy hat. Dave Herman's crazy striking knocks out the Jon Olav Einemo(Why is this main card? First fight for him since 2006).

Caught a little of this last night; felt more like old UFC stuff.

Anyone care to take a guess as to why Nate got dumped from the UFC after not passing medical?

This ref is without a doubt the worst.
