What does Bellator mean anyway? Is it someone's name? It's obviously not an acronym.

According to Wikipedia, it's Latin for "warrior".

Watching the Shark Fights PPV. Paul Daley is not going to get himself back in the UFC's good graces anytime soon. Did not make weight (again), and had some unusual comments for the fans after the fight.

Yea. Just not looking good for him. Heck, he didn't even fight well.

Also, I feel bad for Jardine. Happy for Houston though. He seems like a good guy.

Marquardt v. Palhares fight night tomorrow on Spike, and the premiere of the Ultimate Fighter, so don't forget.

Triple post!

Palhares = facepalm. Yes, try to stop the fight midway through a round to tell the ref that he's greasing. Absolutely genius.

Yes, I can't believe he just decided to try and call time-out. Hey, you are in a fight.

Apparently he didn't hear Herb Dean when he looked him right in the freaking eye and said "protect yourself at all times".

Dumbass.

Wow. Sonnen and Carwin were caught juicing and they still couldn't get the job done. That makes me even more impressed with Silva and Lesnar.

Picks for tomorrow night?

I really want Cro Cop to win, but having an eye injury(which didn't look that bad on MMA Live last night) combined with just 4 weeks to train, I don't think he will be able to take on Mir. Will be an interesting match-up nonetheless.

Bader takes Nogueira down, ground and pounds him for TKO in round 2.

I'm really not sure about Chris Lytle and Matt Serra. If I had to pick, I would pick Lytle, based plainly on the fact that he has had more cage time over the past few years than Serra.

Evan Dunham over Sherk. Sherk has just been out of the cage for too long.

I have a bad feeling that Mir is going to really put an asswhupping on CroCop. I like CroCop but he just doesn't have the wrestling to deal with what is becoming the prototype UFC heavyweights like Mir, Lesnar, Carwin.

The other fights look, to me, like toss ups. Pretty tough to gauge with inactive fighters coming back.

I am having trouble getting excited about this card. I might pass on this one.

Mir KO Cro Cop. Even his name conspires against him here.

I hope he can pull it off, but I think Mir has this one in the bag.

I'm pulling for Crocop even though I know it will be Mir that wins. Anyway I'm passing on getting this ppv and will just settle for reading about the outcomes.

That may have been one of the most boring cards in UFC history.

If you're thinking about trying to watch the Mir vs. Cro Cop fight, don't bother. Just look up the results.

That was boring. Oh-so-boring.

My wife and I went to Applebees (no cover charge ) to watch the card and I literally feel asleep at the table 2-3 times toward the end. We were both bored out of our minds for the first time in a long time. I don't think 120 is going to be much better.

I swore that I heard Rogan say, almost at the end of the Mir-Cro-Cop fight, "well, the fans sure didn't win tonight."

He totally did, and he was right.

They didn't even give Mir KO of the night(he was the only KO). They gave two Fight of the Night bonuses instead.

WEC 51 tonight.

Two words: Jose Aldo.

If you haven't seen this kid fight, you're in for a treat. Think Anderson Silva with a killer instinct.

I've been watching Aldo for a while and have to say that I don't see anyone taking that belt from him anytime soon. He's just a monster. The timing he has on that flying knee and the power he has on that thai kick is just too much to overcome. Uriah Faber owned that division for a long time before Mike Brown took two close fights from him. Aldo made them both look like heavybags.

Jose Aldo is one of the most dangerous men in MMA. Holy crap was that a good fight.

Definitely.

Great WEC card, as usual.

That knockout of the Korean Zombie was pretty spectacular, but also very obvious. The dude was not protecting or moving his head. It was only a matter of time before someone knocked him on his chin.

The Cerrone/Varner fight was pretty one sided, but still very good. The Mongolian Wolf fight was very cool. I hope we get to see more Chinese fighters.

A bit off topic.....Did anyone else give the EA MMA demo a try? Seemed promising to me.

I need to. Although I heard that the controls were impossibly hard to get used to. Have you had anything like that?

Faceless Joe wrote:

Funny thing is, I've seen better top-to-bottom cards. But the three fights that mattered (Aldo, Cerrone-Varner and the Korean Zombie getting KTFO'd) was worth it.

Speaking of, the way you kill a Korean Zombie is ... wait for it ... a head shot. A fitting ending.

So what with Lesnar's next fight coming up against Valesquez (sp??) in a couple of weeks, does anyone have any predictions?

I am leaning towards Lesnar, if only because I am a big fan of his. They are about the same height (6'3" for Lesnar, 6'2" for Cain", and Brock has 20lbs on Cain (265 vs 245).

Also, did I read the website right, UFC 120 is next weekend, and 121 the weekend after??

Yea. UFC 120 is going to be in London, and will be shown tape delayed on Spike TV for free. So kind of just a hype bout(a much needed one at that) for UFC 121.

I think Brock will win it, too. It really doesn't matter how fast your hands are if you can't use them. We'll see though. I don't like to doubt Velasquez.

What about Jake Shields v. Martin Kampmann? Incredibly boring? Or worse?
