Yea I'm pretty sure it was the elbows as well, Anderson's knees were completely jacked having just come off surgery so I doubt he had much squeeze in that triangle.

Anyone miss out on Affliction Banned last year?

They are streaming it for free online right now.

Well UFC 93 was a little ho- hum for me. I am psyched for GSP and Penn.

I think that fight is going to be amazing.

I agree on both counts. 93 was a big yawner and I am shocked that Dana White somehow saw fit to award the Rua/Coleman embarrassment a "fight of the night" bonus. That fight was a JOKE - both guys gassed in 3 minutes, then hung around until the end of th 3rd round.

Afterwards, White announced that Rua was going to fight Liddell in the main event of an April card...Couple that with the other main event announcements of their cards following Penn/GSP (Sanchez vs Stevenson, Rampage vs Jardine) and you have a recipe for not bothering with those cards. I'm sure that Mir/Lesnar 2 will be the co-main event on one of those, but if they're going to do a PPV a month and charge $45/55 for watching, then they're going to have to come up with some more compelling matches as main events.

I was disappointed I didn't get to see the Franklin v Henderson fight. I was at a sports bar for a friend's birthday, but when that fight came on, she was ridiculously drunk and melancholy (nearly in tears complaining about her work). Attempting to not be a gigantic asshole, I was trying to calm her down and what not. I missed the entire fight. For shame.

I agree the Coleman/Rua fight was horrible. I much preferred the Palhares/Horn fight. I liked how Horn kept battling and almost caught him once or twice.

So what is everybody's predictions on the Penn/GSP fight?

I love both fighters, but I think this is going to be GSP's fight. Penn should be at 155 and I don't think he trains like GSP.

Penn's natural ability is amazing. Its too bad he doesn't really push himself.

GSP by TKO is my prediction.

GSP by unanimous decision.

GSP by TKO.

GSP via GnP TKO probably in the 3rd or 4th round.

I really think this fight depends on whether or not Penn can take down GSP(and keep him down, for that matter).

Is anyone watching UFC 94?

Though BJP managed to survive until the 4th round, that fight was really functionally over after the 2nd. All he managed to prove is how bad a beating he could take. GSP proved he was a tremendously improved fighter.

Wow.

B.J. Penn's older brother and corner man has announced that they will be filing formal complaint with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday. Claiming St. Pierre used a “greasing” agent during the fight on Saturday.

http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles...

Penn's head coach is also claiming GSP did the same thing in their first fight in 2006. Sounds like sore sports to me, but I guess that will have to be confirmed by the NSAC.

Well I'll wait till the NSAC says but it sounds like an excuse to me.

I hoped BJ would wake up and decide to really start training after getting dominated like that.
But it seems like he wants some type of excuse. I'm pretty sure that the outcome would of been the same with or without any greasing.

GSP looked amazing that night though he is getting better and better.

I think BJ's problem is that he was giving up too much natural weight. He's not going to compete at that size against someone who has brought it. The best he could hope for is to catch someone sleeping at that weight. I don't think he could take, Thiago Alves, for instance.

He needs to stay at his weight.

Matt Hughes mentions on his blog he also thinks GSP felt greasy when they fought.

Matt Hughes wrote:

Now, on to what everybody is talking about, the greasing. I’m not the only one who has said that GSP felt greasy during a fight. I know Matt Serra has mentioned it and, even in their first fight, I think BJ said something. I’m not saying GSP did something wrong and I’m not saying that it would have changed any outcomes of any fights; but what I am saying is, for my last two fights against Georges, he felt greasy.

Why he never made public what he thought before... I don't know.

Apparently, Dana White was made aware of it as soon as the fight was over - check out his video blog here:

Around 9:30, you can see Chuck Liddell walk up to him and say something, then Dana goes and talks to various fighters from the Jackson camp about how stupid it is and that the NSAC may go nuts over it.

Sounds like the worst idea ever for a show.

The idea behind the show, which is scheduled to air on the MTV network, is to pull bullies from their schools and put them in real-life mixed martial arts matches against trained professional fighters. The first episode will air in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the initial fight will be regulated and governed by the Pete Sauzo Utah Athletic Commission

They also have a video of Grease Gate that does a good job of showing Bj's side of things.

Anyone planning on watching UFC 95 tonight? It's free, so you don't have a reason not too!

Didn't know Koscheck was fighting. I'm eager to see what he'll be like after his most recent fight.

I watched it. Overall, I thought it was good. The main event was a bit of a snoozer.

Yea when you get 2 grapplers in a striking match it's usually pretty tame. The other 9 fights were all great though.

Is anyone going to get this weekend's UFC event? This seems to be their weakest fight card in some time. The upcoming Fight Night seems more compelling.

I've watched every UFC PPV since the beginning and I'm not going to stop now.

I find that often times the worst looking "on paper" cards end up with the best fights so I wouldn't completely write this one off.

I have been watching practically every one as well. However, I am trying to be a little smarter with my $50. Since the fight card is the only info we have to make purchasing decisions. I will have to pass on this one. I agree there are times when two fighters you were not interested in turn out to be a great fight. But there is no one on this card I am especially interested in....so I pass.

UFC Fight night tonight, Looking forward to also seeing the start of the new TUF

All you guys in MD, PA, VA, DE

UFC 101 will be in Philly.

Forrest confirmed

Penn vs Florian possible.

The Strikeforce card on Showtime from this past Saturday (4/9) has a fight of the year candidate on it featuring Scott Smith vs. Benji Radich. Well worth checking out if you have Showtime.

I lucked into catching this fight with the free Showtime my hotel room had. Too bad the rest of the fights weren't very good but Smith vs. Radich was quite enjoyable.

I too lucked into catching this by just flipping through the guide.

That fight was amazing and shows the heart of both fighter.

Sorry for the ad hoc spoiler I don't know how to do it.
I though Scott was done at one point as he didn't defend himself up against the fence buy they let it go.

For something to be fight of the year there should be some impressive technique and skills on display. Two guys standing in front of each other playing Rock em Sock em Robots is a fun watch, but fight of the year? No way.
