LOTRO - Anyone Planning To Play Moria?

Pages

With Eldain a Firamoin out of the picture as of Friday, anyone still planning on playing Mines of Moria when it comes out? We should figure out who can take the reigns and how many of us will be left to head underground.

Yes, I'm playing WAR, but MoM looks really good. Both have their attractions.

I will be playing it some.

I highly recommend Arcane Heroes as a guild for you all.

I moved to it sometime ago and it was more GWJish then Eldain morphed into.

They do use a dkp system but it is all rather painless and the guild is amazingly laid back and well organized and successful.

Oh for those that do not know but my name in game is Gimmi or Amthir.

I'll be playing MoM, I've already paid for the upgrade. My level 42 LM is a bit rusty though.

I would like to apologize to all of the GWJrs still in Eldain. I hung in as officer as long as I could, but playing since LoTRO since 06 caused my burnout and the fracturing of Eldain onto different WAR servers spelled the end of Eldain.

I strongly encourage all of you to contact Gimmi and Arcane Heroes, as his endorsement would be enough for me without hesitation, after all MMOs are his second wife.

I'm planning on playing MoM. Haven't bitten the WAR bug yet and due to less gaming time probably never will. I'm Celesil/Aoifwyn/Siorcha.

Hey Mal, what does the dkp system entail?

It is really straight forward.

On a guild run you get 1 dkp for showing and 1 for each boss killed.

The guild leaders keep the website updated with all the data.

When a teal item or in the case of the rift a gem drops that you can use you send a silent bid to the officer asking for bids. The winner is the person that bid the highest but he pays the second highest price. So example person A bids 20 points person B bids 15 points and persons C bids 2 points. Winner is person A at the cost of 15 points. You are only allowed to win 1 teal or in the case of the rift 1 teal 1 gem per.

I know some people are against it but it works well and this guild is rather cool about it all so I not seen really any drama ever. Also if you are patient you will generally get your items with this system just might not be the first person.

They have a nice site and even if you decide not to join check them out they let non-guild people come to events to fill in gaps and is a fine way to get to know them.

Oh and even if you plan on playing just a bit or taking a break, cough Badferet cough, give them a look. As I said they were more GWJish in attitude and environment than Eldain so they have no problem with breaks and casual people.

I'll be playing Moria, and indeed already purchased the "digital upgrade" for the reasonable price of $30.

I enjoy the game quite a bit, even with a career and wife and kids and whatnot. I'm in a nice guild, http://oldtimersguild.com, and while i'm not really active in the raiding aspect of it there is still tons of content i need to work through. Things like reputation, deeds, gear upgrades, and a couple of alts are more than enough to keep me busy even without Moria.

The only part that stinks is that I leave for Seattle, Tokyo, and Honolulu only 5 days after the release. Yeah, I'll be dragging along the monstrous 17'' laptop for a little late night hotel LOTRO.

i'll be playing of course.

Unfortunately i'm on a diffferent server to most goodjers so that kinda suck..

I put down my monies for the Collectors edition =)

I'll be returning to play. I already have it preordered with Amazon.

I think Moria looks amazing. But, since I'm fully into WAR right now, I'll most likely be holding off on MoM for the time being and grab it sometime down the road. I will say that I think the Rune Keeper class looks like one of the cooler mmo classes out there, and legendary weapons sound awesome.

I grabbed a pre-order with the goodies. Having been out for a while and little playtime besides, I missed the drama. Which guild wants me? Who do I contact in-game?

Upon the above recommendation I joined up with Arcane Heroes. I'm still not %100 on who can offer guild invites, but you can apply via their website as well: http://www.arcaneheroes.net/

I played briefly at launch, within the first month took a loremaster to the level cap. It didn't stick. I had guild issues which can ruin any good MMO.

I just wanted to chime in to say that DKP is a horrible system. It is completely unbalanced.

I played in a DKP system guild when I first started playing WoW. The problem with is is that people will hoard points and dump them all on one single item they want instead of actually taking items they need. It is very bad for progression.

I can tell you stories how I went to raids as much as possible and using random rules for loot I ended up never winning and losing over and over to 1 show people.

No system is perfect. Each has it pluses and minuses.

While you many not like a DKP system it works well for this guild.

I'm seriously considering re-upping with a lifetime sub, because i think i'll keep coming back to this game, enough to make it worthwhile over the next 3 years or so. And the new content looks very cool.

I did a lifetime sub and I'm happy with it. It makes it my ultimate "fall back" game and the perfect Saturday afternoon futzing around gaming.

I preordered and was in the beta. What I was able to play, I really enjoyed and I'm really looking forward to playing when it goes live. I was never big into raiding (although being able to fight the Balrog was nice), but any group I can find for the general/story quests is fine with me. Guess its time to start window shopping...

I went lifetime sub and promptly ran out of time in my RL to play as much. Still, I don't regret it.

I also did the lifetime, and I'm in and out. Moria should drag me back in for a while. I'll probably apply to the guild soon.

I'm re-upped with the expansion pre-ordered. I'm on Landroval, Hobbit burglar named Larghetto. I'll be creating one or both of the new classes and looking to level up with a group.

Hey, are they expanding the character slots?

Yes, they are giving out two more slots.

The people in Arcane Heroes are really nice and the guild is active. It's nice to be a part of the community here and there even if I'm a bit of a lurker!

I put my application in today.

Where is this application thingy?

Okay, I've punched through to 50th on my minstrel and cleared out my quest log... getting kind of excited to play Moria content especially since I've put myself through a self-imposed news blackout on the expansion.

I loved my time in LOTRO. Got my Champion close to level 30. I might pick up Moiria, but I'm in the middle of being out of town 3 out of the next 5 weeks with an MCSE boot camp. That plus a new girlfriend that I am just bonkers about and I'm not sure how much time this would really get.

Direct link to the application.

It's here. Expansion's live. Of course, almost no one can log in, but that's to be expected! At least the new launcher screen is pretty.
