That post has a lot of smilies.

Hey I'm telling a story. If you were here you'd see lots of hand movements and facial expressions and hear the drama in my voice. But you're not here, so smilies!

So the game is finally here. Should be on a few nights this week playing. If anyone still plays this from time to time, friend me up.

At the risk of bring out of step, I find the implementation of "lives" in this game to be stupid and unnecessary. I sincerely look forward to the retirement of every developer who thinks lives, save points, et al are clever gameplay devices.

Just randomly skimming the topic, but this really sticks out.

My wife and I have been co-op-ing a lot this week. And we will breeze through a level, then hit one little spot where bam we lose all our lives. And then we have to repeat the whole level. It's a terrible design.

Someone else mentioned Mario Galaxy back on the same page. And yes, we played that (and 2) co-op. Sure there are lives, but you are allowed to stockpile extra lives on the easy sections and then burn through them on some of the harder parts.

There's no balance like that in LBP. I can be flawless for 95% of a level but if I die 4 times in that one segment, I have to do the whole thing over again. It's disturbing my marital bliss.

My wife's main problem is the foreground/background switching. She's struggling to switch at the right times or sometimes just having trouble telling that she is on the wrong plane.

And I don't think either of us like the jumping. It feels... heavy? Clunky? Something. Not precise. When I die in Mario Galaxy or NSMB it's my fault. The controls are so spot on that any missed jump is my mistake. In this it feels like I'm fighting the jumping way too much. Sometimes when you land you don't really land either, and can't perform a second jump, so instead I just bounce off a platform and to my death. Pretty damn frustrating.

And we just finished the honeymoon story and are on to some mines now. Not sure how many chapters/levels there are. Feels like it's getting less fun as we progress though... any advice? Clearly a lot of people have moved on from the game, but it's new to us and I was hoping to get our money's worth out of some co-op fun.

I'm still a huge fan of the game though the number of people who still play is clearly waning. I only play the game with others however, (it is equally as much fun to work together as it is to screw over other players with a well timed slap ) and now really only levels designed by others.

I believe there are around 50 levels by media molecule (the last level took me way too many tries to beat). Friend me up if you want another sackboy companion to help out.

Have they fixed the lag during online multiplayer? I remember playing with some Goodjers one night, and it was so horribly laggy that I couldn't even play. I had to rely on the others dragging me through the level by advancing.

It will keep getting harder. There's one bit in one of the last levels that's affectionately known as the Spinning Wheel of Death, and it is of course right at the end of the level.

I loved the game, but the single-player was not easy.

Despite its general aesthetic, the LBP single-player is not an easy game.

Which is why many user created levels got rid of the lives aspect.

And I believe it's been reworked for LBP2, but haven't paid enough attention lately to tell you whether I'm pulling that out of my ass or not.

Yes, I see.

That's really awesome you can build that in LBP2.

Oh. For some reason the video doesn't appear in Firefox so I thought Dyni posted absolutely nothing. Just watched the video, though, and it's pretty impressive. I don't think I could be any more excited for LittleBigPlanet 2.

Oh, so you weren't just being snarky?

I've seen several pretty awesome user levels from the beta. I thought that one was particularly entertaining and impressive. I'd love to see if the creator actually put in unique attacks and specials for each character.

Apparently demo is up tonight. Do we have a sequel thread yet?

Stupid cell phone.

Nope. Have at it.

Glanton did the honors. LBP2 catch-all
