Fable 2 catch all

I haven't even played the pub games yet. Now I'll have to do the exploit to see what happens.

While I'm really psyched for Fable 2 I'm getting worried about how much Molyneaux has been talking about its problems. Like he's getting us ready for it to suck or something.

Either that... or he is trying to use the new Peter Molyneux's guide to reverse psychology!

Well, hold on now... Has the game gone gold yet? If so, was it before the release of the Pub games? If so, then either the exploit WAS deliberate... either that, or it was discovered in-house and the "surprise" was added as another aspect of the game, rather than patch out the exploit.

Seeing as they announced they were going to fix the exploit, I'm guessing the latter. In fact, I doubt they even discovered it in-house. This surprise is probably nothing more than some evil points.

Still really looking forward to this game. Should be brilliant!

Well it looks like Fable 2 will not ship with online coop, they say it will be released within the first week of the games release.

I think this is a bad thing for the game mainly because I have the feeling that they won't both releasing it at all or charging for the "benefit" of using it, I hope they don't but I could see it happening.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

It's a bad sign, but if they do really get it in a patch in a week, then I can live with it. If it takes them a month, then I think it'll really hurt the game, and be seen as yet another broken promise by Peter, despite it turning up eventually. Will this make lots of people cancel their pre-order? I don't personally think so, just because I imagine most people play single player initially, and then co-op.

I'm oddly really excited about Fable 2, despite not being that impressed by the first one. I'm not sure why.

I was wanting to play a good character. If the "exploit" causes me to be bad I will be a little pissed.

Do you mean the pub games? Can't you just start a bad character then delete them and start a new character?

Is it just me or lately have we seen a lot of games drop their online co-op for release with a promise to add it in soon after? Little Big Planet, for instance.

Ya, but I played the pub games quite a while to get all the "rewards" and I don't want to have to do it again.

With LittleBigPlanet I think it was just the coop construction mode. Deadlines are a bitch. In my head this just means Fable 2's real release date got bumped back by a week to whenever they actually patch it in. I wonder if the feature is highlighted on the box?

The MP isn't a big issue since, by the time I play this around winter or spring (gotta play Mass Effect first!), there won't be anyone on my friends list playing it anymore anyway.

I was annoyed enough that I was going to cancel my pre-order and wait but right now I've got the CE for $66 from Amazon which I'd lose if I cancel.

I may be waiting until January or so myself.

Woot! Maybe there WILL be someone for me to drop into their world.

Trust me... you don't want to go near Wordy's world...

Those eyebrows, it's a perfect match!

Well, I think it's time to cancel my pre-order:

[quote=Amazon update email]Recently, Microsoft Games Studios announced the Fable II game is in manufacturing and confirmed for Oct 21st in North America. However, due to supply chain issues, Microsoft has revised the Fable II Limited Edition contents. The premium box, five printed fate cards, and Hobbe figure will not be available as part of the Limited Edition. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Fable II Limited Edition will now include the following content:

-Fable II game disc
-Bonus DVD with new 'Making-of' Feature
-Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) - Includes "The Hall of the Dead" Dungeon, "The Wreckager" Legendary Cutlass Weapon, and Spartan armor and energy sword[/quote.

That is absolute bullsh*t.

Have they said whether the LE dlc will be available for non=LE owners at a later date?

I originally was getting a great deal on the Fable LE of 66.99, but that was before the content revision and price drop. Now its kind of a 'meh'. If the DLC will be up for everyone anyways, I'd rather just cancel my order. I'm borderline at this point.

I would bet my copy of Fable 2 on the DLC being available for money on LIVE! very soon after the release of the game - if not at release.

That is absolute and total BS. You can't sell pre-orders on a limited edition and then change what's in the box. The Hobbe figure was the best part! I'm sure some people will still do it to play Minstrel Chief though.

Officially cancelled now. Between the CE bait-and-switch and the online co-op "delay" I'm just going to wait and see what the group consensus is on the final product, whatever shape it actually ships in, before I bother picking it up. This is the last time I risk pre-ordering a Lionhead game.

Exactly my stance. I only held onto my LE pre-order after the online co-op was pulled because I had the $67 price from Amazon. Now that the LE is light and only $70 anyway the savings isn't enough for me to gamble on what is in my mind now a questionable product.

Wow the cutting knives demanded more blood for the blood god.

Features from the pack-in Collectors Edition DVD have been trimmed with developer interviews and the soundtrack (which I knew was gone) have also been removed from the package.

Khooooorne!

It reminds me of someone over a barbeque grill

Guest: "Is the steak done yet?"
Cook:"Here lemme see." The cook cuts off a sliver to check the color and taste. "Nope just a few more minutes"
Guest: (After 5 minutes) "Is it done now?"
Cook:"Lemme check again" Cook cuts off another thin slice which he gobbles up. "Yup, it's done" as he finishes chewing on his test slice.

Man, am I glad I missed reserving the LE copy.

Edit: changed thread title.

So, I find myself really interested in this game, even though I'm not into RPG-type games typically.

I wonder -- how well does the original hold up in this day and age? I have limited gaming time (well, limited compared with the number of great games out there), so I'm not sure I'd pick it up anyway, but I am interested for some reason.

Even when it first came out the original wasn't all that fantastic. It was a Peter Molyneaux game. Some neat ideas, lots of charm... mediocre execution.

I thought the original was fun, if short.
