I couldn't find the CDs and somehow they never wound up imported into iTunes, so I just bought the mp3s of Cracker's self titled album and Kerosene Hat because I needed to.

They are awesome and so are you for knowing that they are.

Some more Let's Eat Grandma ("Let's Eat, Grandma"?). First album out on 6/17/2016. CanNOT wait.

Have we talked about Diarrhea Planet yet? Because we need to have a talk about Diarrhea Planet...

Saw these guys in concert last weekend (Caravan Palace), awesome show. Also went to a local bar afterwards with them and then back to their tour bus. The power of having girls in your group with you...

Similar band that I discovered after liking Caravan Palace: 11 Acorn Lane.

Very jealous! I couldn't find anyone to go to their show with last week.

I... what? That name prevents me from listening.

I can't get enough of this Julien Baker cover of Photobooth. I generally dislike covers, but that one works for me. Always been a huge fan of that Death Cab song and Death Cab in general.

I'm a huge fan of that AV Club series. There's always a couple gems for me each season. This year's Local H doing Shock the Monkey makes me smile!

Open your mind to the world of the Diarrhea Planet!

ETA: Oh hey! Look at that! Not so NSFW for NPR!!

Ummm, I'm a bit at loss, so could the GWJ hivemind help me out here? I have totally forgotten a name of one super cool black girl, she's fairly recent, singing a tad RnB with heavy electronica vibe. I *think* she's from New Orleans. She had a kinda conceptual album couple of years or so back. I vividly remember one of her videos from that album, with kinda weird sci-fi auction where android black girls were sold to the highest bidder and such.
This is most likely weird and totally fragmented information, sorry for that. I just had a sudden urge to listen to her but for the life of me couldnt remember her name or even any leads that I could successfully google.
Her name was quite French sounding, if I recall it right. But that's all I can remember. I can be such a dummy sometimes.

Janelle Monae?

This album and this song in particular just kills it. I'm always a fan of minimalist piano.

Yeeees!!!
Thank you
It's weird how hard it is to find stuff that you have no good keywords for in your mind. You *know* that thing, you would recognize it in an instant but just cant find it.

My faith in humanity is renewed.

Was invited to a live taping of this trio earlier this week. The drummer was crazy good.

Not even my favorite song of hers, but I really like the video. Unfortunately the quality isn't that great.

Artist: Ane Brun
Album: Spending time with Morgan
Song: Humming one of your songs

Ane Brun

That's a fun song!

I like Ane Brun a lot. I first heard her on KCRW's old Today's Top Tune thing they used to do. It was The Treehouse Song, and everyone I played it for thought Dolly Parton was making new folk music!

She also did an amazing cover of Björk's Jóga.

Me? I'm good with mellower Opeth. Primarily thanks to the set of pipes on Mikael Åkerfeldt and his guitar writing/playing.

Listening to the "Classical Focus" station on Amazon Prime Music, this song came up from an artist named Ludovico Einaudi off the album Una Mattina. Absolutely amazing:

(The visuals are superfluous, typical YouTube, just listen to the music)

Wow. And with Björk right there in the audience - that must have put the pressure on!

One of my favorite electronic releases of the year so far is "Potential" by The Range. Nice soundbite from Pitchfork regarding the debut album by James Hinton:

"Hinton has an ability, not unlike the Books when they first hit the scene 14 years ago, of making shopworn techniques in sound manipulations seem strangely fresh, and Potential is the kind of music that makes you think about what your own part in a seemingly passive musical transaction of music might mean."

The Full Album Youtube Playlist is here. Single Florida is below:

Clean Bandit's newest single sticks close to its usual dancey poppy style. I gobble that up without question.

PSA: Let's Eat Grandma's I, Gemini is out now.

Sigur Ros is in the middle of a 24 hour livestream where they have constant atmospheric music set to a vehicle with a video camera driving around Iceland. It's apparently based on a new song and they've somehow programmed it to gradually morph.

It's good background music if you need something to listen to at work.

So, I decided to subscribe to Tidal since I can get the Hi-Fi version for $5 a month instead of $20 a month with my Third Man Records subscription. It's really ideal for me and will let me buy the stuff I really want on Vinyl and not bother with buying digital stuff on Amazon. I'm easily going to save money month-to-month. It's pretty crazy to have legal and high quality access to basically EVERYTHING. I'm listening to stuff I wouldn't normally listen to as well. Beyonce is crazy good these days.

DOROTHY is fantastic blues rock:

Robert Ellis is great folk/country:

You can stream the Glastonbury performance of one Sigur Ros song at BBC. So glad I have a ticket to see them on the tour later this year. How do they keep being so good?

Reminds me of a local Knoxville band. Cant find their slower ones on youtube though.
