Ratatat is awesome. They're effin awesome live, too.

This is an interesting bit about the upcoming Helio Sequence album:

If you pre-order Negotiations from SubPop.com or buy it from select retailers on CD or LP, it will come with a quadrophonic companion CD called Aces. Aces is meant to be played simultaneously with Negotiations on two different stereo systems to create an enhanced spatial experience.

I'll definitely be able to do this. It's gonna be awesome.

El Ten Eleven

Woohoo!

The Faint going on a small tour and playing the entire album Danse Macabre for the first time live.

For those not familiar with their work.

Agenda Suicide - off Danse Macabre

The Geeks Were Right - off Fasciinatiion

But I guess only if you like dubstep

Nice! I pre-ordered my digipack/Devy bear combo already...a total sucker for all of his stuff.

This is as awesome as it is weird

The guy is incredibly talented/intelligent and it plays into his sound brilliantly. I would love to have a modicum of the talent he possesses.

Most excited this week for Katatonia's "Dead End Kings." I thought their last album, "Night is the New Day," to be a superb release that had a great sound and didn't seem to care about fitting all of the preconceived notions about what a metal album needs to sound like. They have moved their own needle from Doom to more atmospheric, layered ambiance built on killer riffs, with soaring vocals (think Maynard from Tool here). Can't wait:

Kyrieee that was very.... umm... interesting.... and strangely enjoyable.

Here's one of my favorite track 'n' video combos.
I think one Youtuber summed it up best: "Leisure time with Don is like computer science with a ponytail"

Golden Axe - Free Time

Music is great, but the videos are a bit odd. I prefer his music from the album "Nice, Nice, Very Nice"

My song of the moment. Sums up my life nicely.

Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose fame has a solo album coming out. First track I've heard and I like.

Swearin', by Swearin'. Kicks me in the place where Japandroids don't.

That was all sorts of awesome. Thanks!

Heavenly Beat - Messiah

Nickodemus - Moon People

The Cactus Channel - Emanuel Ciccolini

A Place to Bury Strangers - Mind Control

I got this in the mail today! It turned out, all the pre-orders are clear, flecked with gold, double vinyls. I love the album, and it was well worth the long wait for them to come out with some new material. I haven't tried listening to it yet with the companion CD on a separate stereo. I'll be doing that tomorrow.

It's good, I like it

There is a stream of Sigur Ros playing live at Bestival starting at 1 PM PST today.

Edit: Not that anyone else was going to watch, but apparently someone screwed up with their twitter feed. They're not a part of the festival.

Ben Folds Five got back together and have an album coming out this month. A track from the album is here. I enjoyed Ben Folds solo stuff, but there was always something missing. You can tell how perfect the three are together when you watch Ben Folds Five: The Complete Sessions at West 54th. It's mind blowingly good. I'm really happy all three of them got to make this new album.

Being a pianist growing up, I've always had a soft spot for Ben Folds.
