I think you missed a key word in my post.

Yup.

Plus. Vitamin Quartet is classical-ish, but usually not symphonic.

Fair enough.

Until our symphonies open back up... I know our local one has done Muse, Radiohead, Prince, U2, Beatles before and they were brilliant.

HOLY SH*T!

You know how every third album or so that NOFX puts out a really great?

Ok. So that song sounds like a few other songs on previous records, but it’s a cut above the rest if you ask me.

Lots of great Brian Wilson-esque songwriting on this one. I’m not saying it sounds like The Beach Boys, but it has that unconventional pop composition of Pet Sounds.

New Aesop Rock

New Lana Del Rey album just landed.

The brand new Jon Batiste record is fricken’ legendary.

I’m pretty sure that Gary Clark Jr is on this song. Plus also check out the badass Come Together bass groove.

I’m pretty sure that NERD / Pharell is responsible for the guitar groove on this one.

I would love to have access to an IMDB type site for music releases.

Isn’t that basically what the All Music Guide tries to be? I wouldn’t say they are succeeding overall but I often find useful info there.

I gave that a look but they only listed composition credits. Nothing about performance credits.

Here's the performance credits. Allmusic does get it wrong sometimes, but generally for larger releases they're pretty reliable, I think.

Hadn't heard of this band but checked this song out because of UPSAHL. I really like the sound. Wasn't blown away by anything else on the EP tho.

Thanks. How did I miss that?

So it’s Robert Randolph not Gary Clark Jr. Randolph rips!

According to people on fox news this Lil Nas video is worse than the terrorist attack on the capitol.

That is a very entertaining video!! The song is pretty good too. Thanks for posting that.

The new Tune-Yards is soooo good. It’s groovy as all get out!

Hey, Tuff. Does this one slap? I’m still trying to figure out what that means.

Not that my definition of slap is correct, but I think that has a smooth groovy cool beat whereas whereas something that slaps would be more upbeat feel, with a catchy hook melody and bass line. Should be bumpin your head to the beat relatively quickly.

That's how I'm goin with it.

Like this:

What would it sound like if The Clash merged with The Fall?

This song slaps.

Ok. So a very strong emphasis on the snare. And NOT syncopated. Got it.

I'm no expert but I think "slaps" is just the new "rocks". Think being awesome is the only requirement.

Update: in one minute of twitter search, things which are alleged to "slap" include: photos of a beach, the movie Grand Budapest Hotel, boob massage, "a mimosa without the champagne", and crinkle-cut fries.

.....yeah, give this one a listen. Also a watch.

Northwest Passage by Unleash the Archers

Amazing song that gets a lot of airplay in our house and is frequently requested for dance parties. My toddler knows and will sing/shout the lyrics and has taught it to her friends at school as well. Which brings me joy.

I belatedly learned it's a cover of a well-known Canadian anthem by Stan Rogers. They are both worth your listen.

I had no idea that Scottish pirate metal was what was missing from my life.

Yep.

New Japanese Breakfast song!!!

I dig it. I think it will be one of those songs that gets better with every listen.

I really like this in a hilariously awesome way:

I need an RPDR lip sync of this song in my life
