Warhammer Online Impression -- NDA Lifting.

My favorite class so far is the Disciple and the Zealot. For those worried about dark elf tanking, I'd say the Disciple will do fine. I was able to rush into the fray in RvR, get surrounded and survive until both melee and ranged focused on me and an poorly timed lag spike. Its funny how the class flavoring can make all the difference. I was just not feeling the Warrior Priest at all. I'll take dual wielding swords over a hammer any day.

I definitely am not feeling the Witch Hunter after brief first impressions. I didn't like the White Lion at all but stuck with it for 2 more levels and its much better. The pet pathing, jerky performance, overcrowding make pet classes difficult to play.

RvR is a blast! Except am I the only one who can at best only play 1.5 minutes in a scenario before getting booted from the server?

Public quests are great too, but overcrowding makes it difficult to make an impact.

The engineer is pretty cool. I'd like to try out its counterpart, the magus, but I don't want to float around on a disk.

The shadow warrior is cool and seems to be above the power curve in early RvR. (again I could only play for about a minute before being booted)

@fang: What's wrong with floating on a disk? It looks awesome - when you move right and left it's like balancing on a surfboard. Only you know, a surfboard... of EVIL!

Also, sorry to hear about your crash-to-desktop issues. This was a bug in beta testing that they're working on - next time you log on please bug it with the character and scenario you were in when you crashed. I would suggest you bug it to the forums but if you had test forum access you would have already seen the thread...

I'm not jumping onboard with this one till you test monkeys play this game for a month.

I'm still licking my wounds from AoC.

Does 6-7 months count? (Beta time)

Had some great fun in RvR today with my Level 6 Black Orc! Also, I'm really digging the public quests, it's pretty addicting to try to get top spot, and the loot is nice too. It's cool just to walk in an area and immediately join in something with a bunch of other people without having to resort to tells, invites, etc.

No, i had a month or two of Beta time in AoC same with others, and it was all going well untill 30 days after launch and well i have beat that horse enough.

I got the top spot for a purple bag! I also was the top scorer and lost out on loot because of a pisspoor roll. Not a big deal because a bit later on another PQ i helped killed one mob and had an great roll and came in 3rd for loot.

I keep coming on 4th, 5th. Can anyone explain how you get points/credit on stuff?

I think it's amount of damage you do to the bosses and the number of full kills or gathers you get before the end.

TAB is your friend. It targets nearest mob and then cycles through them.

If I preorder the game now, will they let me play the beta that you guys are in? The website says September 7?

They let the first 50,000 pre orders of the regular edition join preview weekend. All CE preorders got in my default. However I believe it ends on Monday, and goes back to the closed beta. The open beta starts sept. 7th and then shortly after the headstart kicks off for all preorders. Hope that helps.

Actually, the entire PQ rating system is done completely through threat generated. The more threat you generate from the monsters, the higher your bonus on the final roll.

Are you sure about this? I preordered last Thursday (8/21) and was able to play this weekend. I never did get an email saying I was in but downloaded the game early and installed it. For giggles I decided to see how far I could get with the install/patching. To my surprise it installed 100% and let me play! I also can't imagine that I'm within the first 50,000 preorders but who knows.

Hey Swat, join us on Vent and play on Red Mtn with us. I was on from 8pm-12 last night and saw only Inioth and Winston from CP.

I've been hopping in and out sporadically but yeah I'd like to join you guys tonight if you're around.. I've had alt-itis but I have a level 6 Black Orc if we could RvR queue together or something?

I found it a lot easier to bind to my keypad and alt-cycle instead of using my mouse to click the mobs, I did quite a bit better in PQ.

Edit: tab cycling. /facepalm

They could have expanded the amount they let in after the results of the first preview day.

Hey Fangblack thanks for your comments about the Disciple class. I would have never tried it thinking it was a pure healing class but after what you said I rolled one this morning and love it. Reminds me of a pally in alot of ways but more fun. I was sure I would be playing a magus as my main but now i'm really starting to love this class. Decisions decisions

Yah, I've been going back and forth with the classes a lot. And I come back to the Disciple frequently. I love how the Zealot plays but they can be frustrating in RvR at times.

My favorite in terms of RvR is the Witch Hunter. Its just the class that after a while, you realize fits your playstyle. And I am really successful with it. Most of the other classes I race to do the first public quest with to get the first few levels. My Witch Hunter has been all RvR aside from the first newb quest. I haven't even gone to the War Camp to gear up and my Witch Hunter is extremely lethal.

But really, there are no bad classes at all.(except the white lion but once they fix the pet/monster pathing, they will rock!) I have enjoyed RvR success with all of them and I haven't even tried the powerhouses such as the Bright Wizard.
