Awesome! Maybe they can market spider magnets like that!

I like how those spiders are all going in the same direction. They're actively swarming at something!

Holy cow, that picture suddenly got HUGE. Did you resize it? Nice shot, btw.

I found this tiny one in a little-used sink.

Oh, i must have put up the full size one.
I'll adjust it.
And thanks! I likes it.

Is that just how it came out of the camera, or did you tinker with the colors again?

I tinkered. it's what I do. I'm a tinkerer.

it's only slightly enhanced. the stainless steel was darkened a bit and the vibrance of the spider enhanced. the spider was a little more pale than that.

...and then I'd nuke it from orbit just to be sure.

So, I was outside and in a dark corner between my porch and the house I saw a web with a rather large dark blob in the middle. Based on the size I thought maybe it was a Wolf spider, but I didn't think they made webs. Since it was dark I couldn't see what it was but figured I'd get the camera as close as I could and snap a shot. After screaming and running back inside I thought I'd share my horror.

I'm still not exactly sure, but I think somehow the smaller spider on the left killed the bigger spider on the right. Is the smaller one maybe a female that killed the male after mating? They don't appear to be the same species, so I really have no idea. I'm not afraid to say that I'm not sure if I want to go back out there to see what happened. What if it's gotten bigger?

It looks to me like a wolf spider found its way into an orb weaver's web. I would have expected the wolf spider to break the web, not get caught.

I think this is a brown widow, or a black widow before mating, that has caught herself a tasty garden spider. They aren't pretty web-weavers, and were almost extinct before brick and concrete. We had tons in our new house, and I could always find them because it looks like a 2 year old made the web. Just strands all over in random chaos to get the job done.

So if the average human eats 3.5 spiders a year, how many crawl up our nostrils and into our sinus cavity?

None. Eating spiders while asleep is a myth.

Like NSMike said, that's not true. A sociologist started it as an experiment to see how easy it is to insert a falsehood into popular wisdom.

Thanks, sociology. Thanks.

His name was Aurthur Higgins and he died of complications due to a spider allergy. In his sleep.

Serves him right for taking an extra U.

He's British? No?

That U is just there so everyone says Aurthur's name right.

So I just had a teensy spider drop down from the ceiling onto my keyboard. I thought of you guys. /shudder

The worst is in your car. Because you could die.

Thank you, I tried telling Shop this when I found a spider in my car last week. He didn't believe that I could die.

Spiders!

Found between my screen door and front door, unfortunately at close range and eye level.

Looks to be a nursery web spider.

I'd never heard of those before, that made an interesting bit of quick reading. Spiders have lying, cheating males too!
