Fagbug - Has anyone seen this?

I went out this evening to get some dinner and I saw this car in the parking lot of a Panera just up the street from where we live. It was VW Beetle painted in brilliant rainbow colors and in huge letters it had the word "FAGBUG" written across the side. I was stupid and didn't take a pic of it but when I got home I Google'd it hoping for an explanation.

Regardless of your stance on homosexuality, you've got to admire this girls courage and perseverance. Watch the slideshow, it'll give you the whole story.

Wow, that is a very impressive story. I wonder though, off all the times her car was vandalized, how many times was it done by someone who was gay and thought the car was a campaign against homosexuality? I assume it would be small compared to the number of times that the vandalism was an act against homosexuality, but I can't help but wonder if it did occur.

Wow, that's a great story, what a brave woman. Inspirational.

She's cute too...

But yes, it is a awsome story. Good for her.

Somehow I doubt that ever happened.

That is most awesome. Way too cool for me to cheapen with witty remarks.

^

I should spray derogatory remarks on my car and ride around with her. We would have our own heterosexual bug.

Never too cheap for me, but maybe not so witty.

Dude, comeon...

Anyway, I'd have been really scared it I were her. I wonder how much of this trip she took was really a thrill ride through the south, a test of nerves if you will, and how much was actual activism. What came first chicken or egg?

I'm really curious to see the documentary. I'm sure her motivations will shine through and remove my doubt.

Somehow I don't think that spraypainting "Straight" and "Hetero" on your care will have the same effect.

like as if anyone needed to be told VW Bugs were pretty gay.

I actually emailed Erin and thanked her for the inspiration and bravery. I let her know she's got some new fans now thanks to Bear.

I am amazed by her bravery. Driving around the country in the Rainbow Brite car is something that I probably would never have the courage to do.

Somewhat like this (from around 2 mins on..)

Wow... and the car trouble was classic.

That is hideous. Activism be damned, she couldn't have picked something that didn't rape my pupils?
Also, does the word f-ag apply to lesbians? I didn't think it did.

It does, but the people who are most likely to use the word "{homophobic slur}" are also the most likely to think two chicks making out is awesome.

Bundle of sticks car? I don't get it?

The Top Gear clip was terrifying. If her trip was anything like that I'm surprised she's still alive.

Please, please sweet baby Jesus, tell me you're making a joke.

I thought, for a minute, that you must be a teacher, and I was prepared to be horrified.

No, that would be a {homophobic slur} car, a {homophobic slur} car would be a cigarette car.

Interesting. Thank God, though, there's a speaker button on the slide show to mute it.

Also another really tasteless joke, the picture is on topic.

I would like my next car to be a Fagbug. Or a Chinkmiata.

I'll have to see about making my mine a Cracker-S.

I'm buying a Whitey Ford.

I hear the Hyundai Sodoma gets better mileage.

I'm pretty amazed that she did that. Assuming that your car was vandalized because someone thought you were gay, and then taking it across the country. I would have been scared going through all those conservative states.

I assume it'd be about like driving a Hummer downtown NY or LA

I think the scary part driving in conservative places is peoples heads, they are so prejudice that they demand everyone be OK with whatever their position is. I think anyone could drive pretty much anywhere and be perfectly safe. Well I guess if your flamboyantly gay and drove to a ultra-conservative southern town and started to flirt with the guys you might get your ass kicked. But then if you dressed up as a KKK guy and drove into the center of Compton and started to tell everyone of your convictions the same would happen.
