Official Age of Conan Wiccana - PvE

So I'm trying different characters right now to see which one I like (did not play at all before saturday..) So, should I wait to find the character that I like before I join the guild? or I can go ahead and join right know and then join again with a different char. if I find the first one was not to my liking.
Just trying to see what are the standard guild practices..:)

No problem... I ended up quitting after my fourth hard lock-up. I sent in my bug report, so we'll see.

Just joined, as I'm really interested in being a part of this. Played on Cimmeria for about 7-8 levels and just got tired of the Group gank-fest. I think Wicciana is gonna be much more rewarding.

I'm playing an Assassin (never did the Rogue thing in WoW, figured i'd lurk for a while in this one), so if you get a whisper from "Duat", be friendly -- well, as much as Hyboria allows

Is there any kind of PvP on the PvE servers or is it 100% PvE?

There are still the PvP minigames (similar to WoW's battlegrounds) as well as a couple of FFA PvP zones that will contain the server's battlekeeps.

I will most certainly be pvping on Wiccana at some point, just not while I try to complete quests.

Anyone around to do a guild invite during the US workday?

I don't see the guild. Does a member need to be on?

Not sure if it matters, but note the capital "T" in The for the guild title now.

well looks like I won't be joining you all, wife aggro would go through the roof.

Yeah I'm not seeing the guild either. I guess I'll try again later.

Ange, HoX

The guild is not showing, I have been checking all day.

I wasn't having much fun with my Bear Shaman so I switched to a Dark Templar by the name of Velkeryby. I've requested Guild Membership with both characters, no response yet.

I was wondering the same thing. The way I'm going it won't be long before I run out of slots too.

The guild application process appears to be totally broken. I finally got the guild to show up on the lists and it turns out when you press 'Apply to Guild', most of the time nothing happens.

I've given lots of folks recruitment power so hopefully you can find one to ask for invite. Naturally, there's no way to find someone by their guild (that I know of) so that part is tough too. Some random picks of names to try and hit up for an invite: Favour, Certis, Dolzer, Lucifist, Torgana, Abanna

For the rest of us, I present: How to invite!

Open 'Players and PVP' the gold button in the top left corner of the screen
In the Players tab, set the level range to something reasonable, 5-20 will work for newer characters
Click Add by Name
Type in the name (watch for typos)
Check the 'Invite to Guild' box
Click OK!

On Alts: I dont know if there's a real limit to guild capacity. If you're enjoying your character, Im sure you'll play it enough to want to have access to guild chat and opportunities to party up, so definitely get those in. If you're still level 6 and not sure whether you like the character, maybe play it up to 10 first.

Gleeless is my Dark Templar...look forward to putting a few levels in and running with you all.

Assassin by the name of Sinatar.

If it's not already using the search option can take a lot of time because of all the people listed.

Quick way is if you have the characters name type:

/guild invite {name}

Bobbik, the HoX.

Started playing last night and got him up to 13 or so. Finished all of the nighttime quests I could and could use some grouping up. I also feel I know a bit better how to play the game by now, so it won't be too embarassing in mixed company.

Ange, HoX

It was showing when I checked this morning at about 8AM EST. Sent a request, please add Ange.

Here's a screen cap of the current guild I took 5/21/08 at 11 am central

It's sorted by class, and so far as I can tell includes anyone I've put in my friends list as well.

ours is that long too except it's all of Bears alts

Hi guys, thanks for the invite. I'm on as Amonlee, Demonologist, lvl 10 atm.

I'm watching this and the PVP thread closely to decide where to start in AoC... I'm usually a Guardian type but I think I'll try a Demo this time around (I don't know if I want the tank responsibility in a group right now). We'll see, it's hard to change around if you're really strongly a certain type of player (like if you're usually healer, tank, etc) but I want to give it a shot. I enjoy PVP, I just don't know if I'd enjoy a PVP centric server... I was worried that the guild on the PVE server was a little... under-staffed - it's seems like everyone is being drawn to the PVP server.

Grats on this guys!

It is good see this, I was worried when I look down the vent channel and only see a few of you guys on there, glad to see you guys are getting good numbers.

Unfortunately, my wife's been swamped at work last couple of days, so hopefully that will change soon, too, and we can continue to contribute to the guild.

I do notice that my wife, Valleja, isn't listed as a Demonologist on that guild roster. Odd, that.

I have a level 16 dark templar. I'm not really having fun with it either. Sure you can life tap to last a bit longer, but with only the one handed weapon, it takes you a lot longer to kill things. The way the class is shaping up, it seems as if this will be a moderate tank with mostly a support class role.

The support role features of the class are becoming more and more prominent as I level. You get a few group heals, such as one that costs your health, or one that leeches for the whole group or one that has a chance to proc a heal if the group is hit in combat.

So if you plan on grouping a lot I could recommend one. However, for soloing, the dark templar cannot compare to the priest of mithra, demonologist, guardian or herald of xotli. The HoX does so much damage its unbelievably fun! The guardian has serious staying power and good damage with a polearm. The Dem is simpler to use than a necro with comparable damage. (necro has more pets and more variety with pets) The PoM has the indispensable repulse spell. The ranger also solos well due to some massive up front damage with their bow specials.

Not only does the HoX dish out damage they're able to take a lot too. In fact when they go demon form they have feats that will push the armor level up to heavy.

As for the DT... They're supposed to be sweet at higher levels.

I know this is a common refrain for all the classes people try, but there's so much more in a class when you're in the 20+ levels. The feats and new combos start kicking in and almost change the way you played for the 1st 20 levels.

I may be chewing on my foot here, but if you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then this is not true. The feat only increases your weight up to heavy plate level armour, for purposes of knockback. Not your actual armour values for purposes of being hit.

But, overall, they do get a lot of damage mitigation and damage reflection types of spells. They might not be the toughest thing on the battlefield, but they are definatelly designed to be the shock troops. Setting everybody on fire. Having the fire spread among the enemies, spontaniously. AoE leaching hp and mana. AoE stuns and knockbacks. It's all about disorienting and confusing the enemy long enough for the rest of your team to do some serious damage to them.

After some trouble with the FFA PvP and general outlook from posts on the official PvP forums I have decided to switch over too Wiccana when the servers come back up today. I am enjoying the story in AoC too much to deal with being ganked while in dialog with NPCs and the excessive spawn camping that goes on in PvP. I truly love this game just don't have the patience for FFA PvP. I hope I can talk my RL friends to follow me to a PvE server.

See you guys online with my HoX Shahes.

The best part is they share their Mitigation with those around them. Contract of Protection is a refreshing damage ward the will be invaluable in raids as it stops for everyone. Great for being in melee range along side the main tank. Combined this with buffs that add fire damage to all nearby melee and curses that weaken mobs to fire and melee damage and you have a great addition to any main tank or main melee DPS group in a raid.

I love my HoX she is a very interesting, complicated and fun class to play.
