AoC: Goons are getting banned

Some of the folks make it sound rather innocent. If they sploited their way to more gold, patch it out. One dude was dual boxing it seemed, was on his way to paying for more accounts, and got banned for account sharing, probably on IP tracking. The last one bothers me the most as a lot of people play games on the go, not just at home, MMOs in particular.

Maybe it goes deeper, but can you really ban people, permanently because the game has glitches?

Also, bannings in the first week for exploiting some bugs seems highly extreme.

Bug is a bug - Using that bug to the detriment of others, the game, or the intent, is exploiting. You would never be able to buy anything on that server if the thousands of goons had thousands of gold and you had, what, 2 or 3? They could charge hundreds for a level 30 tunic, and unless you exploit or buy gold from farmers, you can't even buy any gear. This is the stuff that ruins economies, and games.

Personally, my take would be, "Anyone found exploiting a bug or game system should be banned or be given some severe penalty." This does not cover a person who just accidentally stumbled upon the bug but then never used. I'm talking about anyone that knows what they are doing is not intended, but still does it. They know what they are doing is wrong. I don't care that "Its in the game". There will always be things to exploit in the game. By giving any kind of leniency to these guys, you only encourage it to happen more.

If this isn't a huge joke

Im honestly getting tired of you faggots Female Doggoing about the cost, as Gold Captain I pay the 50 dollars a month WITH PRIDE and I will continue to do so until I can afford to upgrade to platinum, when which I hope to take a more active role in the leadership of this guild. When I am platinum, im not going to fight to lower prices, im going to RAISE them. Do you think these fee's are just going into the pockets of the guild leaders? No, they pay for things. And once you are platinum level, you will be told what those things are.

Then their all insane, and the fact that even reference giving up tax returns, makes me wonder how wacked out they are. Scientology must have decided to branch out.

Kudos to the leaders though, they must be making a fortune

I wonder what's more likely, that people known for trolling are trolling or that a bunch of unbelievable stuff is true? Hard choice that one.

So rather than just being a mob of idiots with a bit too much money on their hands and an in-game death wish it'll be a guild of rich idiots with an in-game death wish. Ok, we can deal with that.

Nah, it's all big running joke. I'm pretty sure they feed off of misinformation and go and chuckle about it in their private forums. As to what satisfaction they get out of it - different strokes for different folks I guess. I think at this point mentioning anything Goon related that isn't validated on a major news site (ie. Massively.com finds out an expose on AoC hacking) can pretty much be chocked up to a bunch of assh*les thinking they are extremely clever at wasting other people's time.

Exactly.

The less we talk about them here and buy into their stupid antics the better. I say more Goon killing and less Goon talking!

I consider thems marchin' orders. Time to head back into the game.

Everything they do is a joke. The drug test thread also mentions their annual physical fitness test. While maybe in some alternate universe a business built around gaming would give a **** about their players doing drugs, they certainly would NEVER care about their physical fitness. Also, why make platinum members exempt if they really care about this crap? Divedend checks... No way - These guys would be all over the news if ANY of this was true.

Probably a big ponsee sceme.

I hope this ISN'T true. It's so nice to have easy targets in game!

I think setting a tough tone, ie banning exploiters right off the bat sends a message that AoC won't be allowing people to swing the economy, and mess with the game. These weren't guys that stumbled upon a glitch, they were a group that systematically exploited and spread that exploit. Thats a danger to the game and the developers took it seriously, which is a nice change.

I think we've given them about as much time as they deserve.
