New New York will soon feel my wrath...

We on the island of Nomoios must stick together! When I actually have an army worth mentioning, I shall join the fight against New New York!

Indeed. This unprovoked attack has convinced me to research the Military tree. The walls of New New York will soon be assaulted by a Legion of Swordsmen. He has awakened a sleeping giant.

Or something like that.

Pupi, Pupi, Pupilopotis, Anaos, 82:41, Wood Crystal

Ranger Rick, Ranger Rick, Rickitania, Drikeios, 17:66, Wine

bennard, bennard, bennardnia, Cheirios [19:35], wine

WizKid, ruler of "Rabbit Lab" on the island of Pereuos[89:70] crystal

Alienz, I'm 22:18, same as Elliottx -- I just missed a number when typing.

Koning_Floris, Koning_Floris, KLF Town, Nimeos[53:30], Wine

It sounds to me I will be better off securing my town before I go all out on the trading, since it will take a very long time to get trade going with you guys. It would be sad to have my town looted every day.

Just an FYI, research conservation and build a warehouse. I'm pretty sure that makes a small amount of your stuff "unlootable". Then just don't stockpile more than your warehouse can hold.

I went into deficit spending and most of my army disbanded.

I've started just sending crystal ships (heh. heh.) to active marble-owning players near me in the hopes of guilting them into sending me marble. I need some marble.

Trachalio: Ledyios[30:82] > Groznyj Grad

Only one city so far and only wood to trade. Working on wealth right now to get me some crystaaaal.

I'm getting about 17 glass per hour and going up. Not sure what other resources I need just yet.

Thanks for maintaining the thread Alien, but you should change the column name from City to Capital City, because eventually we'll have multiple cities.

The forums have specific boards for each server of the nature "Offering Glass, Need Marble" or what have you.

*Edit* How do you up your storage capacity? I went around to a neighboring island with crystal and asked if anyone was itnerested in trading crystal for one. I got two bites, so I made the first trade of 50 wine for 50 crystal.

Build and upgrade a warehouse, I'd guess.

The second guy simply sent me 1000 crystal without asking how much I wanted/needed or how much wine I could offer in return. I can't even hold 1000 crystal, let alone have something to spend it on. I fear he may be a mobster and now I'm in his debt, so I'm working to pay him back.

Otherwise I'd laugh at him for simply giving me 1000 without negotiating a price. But I think he could probably eliminate me with a flick of the wrist.

pyromanfo, ruler of "Pyropolis" on Wodyios[79:28], I'm guessing my commondity is Crystal

Kitzilla, kit, kittsburgh, Wodyios[79:28], Crystal Glass

Your warehouse level determines your trade good capacity, and what portion of your goods are unlootable.

I'm thinking a well-upgraded warehouse is a necessity. I was just raided by a nearby islander, who brought along 30 military units. I had a town wall and only 4 slingers, but he went back home with a mere 2 gold because, luckily, all my trade goods were below the lootable limits.

So far, I'm on a nice peaceable island. Wonder how long that'll last?

He might also not have had any cargo ships. The real looting seems to be resources taken by cargo ship. Each cargo ship can carry 300 "stuff".

I'm currently running a level 2 warehouse (level 3 needs marble) and spending enough to stay under the limits.

I decided to go for Expansion so I can colonize in an island with marble. I'm hoping it is as easy as building the palace. I just hope no one decides to loot the +600 wood I need for that.

::nervously eyes his HUGE stack of crystal:: Yeah...
Well I'll have professional army researched in ~10 minutes, so I'll have an army in place soonish.

*Edit*
Professional Armies are expensive. And they require Sulfur.

Phalanx (good defender)
4 citizens, 104 lumber, 64 sulfur, 24 gold/hour maintenence, takes 1h22m to train 1 (at Barracks level 3)

Swordsman (good attacker, weak defender)
2 citizens, 47 lumber, 16 sulfur, 16 gold/hour, 24.5m to train.

Slinger
1 citizen, 40 lumber, 8 gold/hour, 11m39s to train.

Dont cancel an upgrade!!! you lose whatever resources you paid for it!! .... Now I'm out of marble..and nobody around me is selling...kHAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!!!!!

Just saw this on founding a new colony:

http://board.ikariam.org/thread.php?...

First you need the Research: Expansion (Seefaring). To research expansion, you need following researches:

Economy: Conservation - Pulley/ - Prosperity
Seafaring: Deck weapons - Ship maintenance - Expansion

Secondly you need to build up a palace after you have explored expansion. The construction of the palace costs 609 wood and takes 4 hours.

Finally you need 5 free merchant ships, 1250 wood und 12.000 gold - furthermore 40 citizens from your capital will be resettled.

Hope that helps...that's a LOT of wood and gold. I'm going to put off expansion until I can actually afford that. In the meantime I'm putting as much as I can into research, and hopefully someone will trade me some sulfur so I can build a few phalanxes to defend myself.

Anyone know what the benefit of a particular deity gives?

Yes it is!

I think you can click on it in the island view screen and get more info:

"Colossus

This colossus impressively stretches out into the sky and lights a safe way for all ships with its ever burning torch. Nobody knows who erected this statue, but there are rumors the gods themselves did it.

Defence bonus for all troops (even those foreign to the island) that protect a town on the island."

Or here:

Click help in the upper left corner. "Wonders" or something like that will tell you.

My island is Ares, which lowers military cost (or boosts speed, I don't remember). Most of them are "harvest 10% more resource than usual".

Yeah.

Hephstos' Forge: +Sulfur
Diyonisus' Garden: +Wine
Temple of Gaia: +Marble
Temple of Athene: +Crystal

Hermes: Trade Ships
Ares: Soldiers/War Machines
Poseidon: War Ships
Colossus: Defense

Anyone working on any tools to help manage things? Not being able to have an at-a-glance view of what I can upgrade and what resources it'll take is annoying. (Leads to lots of click-back-click-back...) Looks like a quick screen-scraper should do the trick, I'll see what I can come up with.

(And if that works, I'll see if I can set up a "building queue".)

Wow. That's lame.
