Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2

That would be correct. I got both the base game and CR from Amazon and both got associated with my steam account, without a problem.

Oh, well that's good then. I may just order the CE from THQ, as I'm a sucker for little additions, particularly when it's only $10 more.

No digital CE? Fooey. Oh well its been ages since I bought a box.

When you say "associated with steam account" do you mean that you can just enter the CD key and have the game added to your list to download/patch etc from that point on? Cause if its that easy I'm up for it.

Any idea when the pre-orders end?

Wow, they want to charge us Aussies $59.99 US for the standard edition on steam. And people in the US get it for $29.99 US?

Regional pricing blows again.

Very cool!

Supposedly that's how SteamWorks games work. You click on... Library I think, then select 'Activate product on steam', enter the key, and bam you're good to go. I haven't done it personally, but that's what I've heard others say.

That's pretty much it. Library, on the bottom, there's "Add a Game", click there, choose "Activate Product on Steam", enter serial key, and pronto, it's associated with your account. Or you can just run the disc install and enter the key when prompted to do so.

From then on, you can either download the game or reinstall using the disc. Feelies + joys of steamworks, what's not to like?

Oy Sabre, guess we need to hook you up with some American amigos, hein?

I wonder if Steam would charge me 60USD if I gifted it to you Saber.

It could be gifted you know.

Unlikely, we've gotten around silly regional pricing that way in the past.

Yea, I know. I'd more than likely do it this way when I decide to get it. It just annoys me that they always do this crap. Why can't we just have one friggin price?!??!?!

Because it'll make Myer go broke and everyone will lose their jobs! Or something.

When everyone thinks about single price, they're usually referring to the US one. At least it isn't an Australian single price

But Europeans are also on the same boat. It's sad, and a lot of it is due to big-publisher - big-retailer relations. If you look at the smaller, digital only, indie published games you'll a reasonable pricing model in place. Recently I was digging around AI War and it was 20 bucks US, 13-15 euros, across all digital stores (Gamersgate, Steam, D2D, Arcen Store, etc).

If there is a boxed version of a game, and a big name behind it, it's almost guaranteed the pricing system sucks.

And to tie this to the thread, this pricing system makes the Emperor cry. It really does.

Sigh, I wish I could order the CE from anywhere but the THQ store.

Order placed.

The THQ store is the only place to get the CE?

According to Ruined, from relicnews, it seems like it for the US.

But I'll tell you it's been hard to find the CE for order on this side of the pond. Only The Hut has it, and it's 50 GBPs, which is way out of my league.

Thanks! I'm guessing that it's just a matter of time until Amazon uk and Game get their stuff straight and update their stores.

However, if in a couple of weeks nothing changes, I just might take that offer.

ahrezmendi -> Might have to take you up on that offer provided I can get Wife Approval. Thank you for offering. Man, us down under really do get screwed sometimes, and seeing as the AUD is caning the USD at the moment, its simple price gouging.

real quick question before I place my order. Does THQ charge your card immediately when you purchase the Retribution CE from the store??

Oooooh. Enjoyed the last 2 but never tried multiplayer mostly due to being a great big scaredycat and being afraid of multiplayer RTS. This is a lock, regardless. I'm just deciding between Space Marines and Orks for my preorder bonus. I do have a soft spot for Orks but have found them difficult to play in most 40k style games. Space Marines, on the other hand, are just the gold standard.

e2a: Oh, and I'm happy to gift some people from foreign climes copies if your local exchange rate is favourable to the Pound.

I second the question. If so I'll have to wait a bit. If not I'll have the cash on hand long before it actually ships.

Ah, I should have checked on international shipping rates before offering to buy/ship the CE to anybody. By the time everything is said and done, it will easily be in excess of $70 USD to buy a copy and ship it overseas, which I highly doubt is worth it to anybody. So yeah, sorry if I got anybody's hopes up, but I'm going to rescind that offer. Editing the earlier post so as to not cause confusion.

Yaouch, that's a lot of moolah. I got charged tax and shipping, but at least they ship USPS so I can ship it to my house. Total came out to 50 USD.

If I may interject, if all the overseas people want is the game and the racial packs, all those codes should be able to be emailed.

So if someone gifts the copy, do you also gift the pre-order bonus?

I was about to pre-order, but then I noticed that you need to enter a password when filling out the billing information page on the THQ store. What is this for?

Edit: I combed the last couple pages and the few articles I could find and came up blank. Has there been any mention yet of new content for Last Stand? I assume new heroes but can't find any mention of them yet. A new map would also be cool.

The password is if you're a returning customer and already have an account. I was able to purchase without having to enter any password.

Nothing more was told, other than "new content". I'd assume at least a new IG hero, I'd bet on new waves, and I'm hoping new max levels, new wargear and a new arena. Hopefully new details about TLS show up in the coming month.

For us euros: the Amazon.co.uk page for the CE and the Complete Edition are up. The pricing seems right, but they're not loaded with details yet.

Well thats weird, cause I have never even visited the THQ store before let alone bought anything. It won't let the purchase happen without one, to register it for future use I assume.

In any case the point is moot. When they said the CE is for US only they really meant US only and not NA. It seems that here in Canada you are not allowed to order the Collectors Edition. I didn't try ordering the normal one because if I was happy with that I could just get it over Steam. The terms of use for the THQ store state that they ship to any country without a trade embargo with the US. I live in Canada, not fricken North Korea. What gives?

EDIT: Oh I see, they can't charge me because of the billing country. Shipping has nothing to do with it. Well that sucks. I guess Visa has cooties or something north of the border.
