EDIT: stupid phone made me double post... Grrr...
Flamers also keep it short ranged'ish, which make it more of a spearhead unit if you want to use it to full effect.
Well, it seems that this expansion is revamping T3. Every race that didn't have a T3 mega unit is getting one, while Eldar got something a little different. What do you guys think Chaos will get considering they already roll with Dick Rex, The Great Unclean One? Some sort of caster? Obliterators?
Oh... And Sabre? You will break under the enablird's cheeto-powdered thumb.

My hope is obliterators!

Umm, possibly nothing, but has anyone got Retribution in their Steam wish list at the moment? See the woman in the icon? I don't recognise her as a unit from the game, I'm having a hard time picking what she is at all. Possible new race?

Inquisitor, for sure.
So, the sixth race will definitely be Imperium related. Could be Inquisition, could be Imperial Guard, could be Sisters of Battle, since all employ Inquisitors.
But the I in Retribution most likely indicates Inquisition.
Long coats, big hats, should be cool 10 bucks one of the heroes is an Imperial Assassin.
Yeah that does look like an Inquisitor. Witch Hunter to be specific. They are the only kind I have seen with that hat.
I'm getting nerd chills.
Oh wait, those are for StarCraft. Tastetosis will never forgive me.
In here somewhere is a hint that Slaanesh will know some form of representation in Retribution.
The Pantheon will be complete. Glory to Chaos!
I've been an unfaithful man-whore with Starcraft2, but am ready to go back to the warm (and bloody) embrace of DoW. Here's to hoping that Steamworks fixes everything that was wrong with GFWL.
Well, it seems the cat is out of the bag for a few days now. Imperial Guard is in.
This is the best summary I've found so far. There's also an official video, but it's pretty crappy. It basically confirms that the Baneblade, the Emperor's own mailed fist is in.
Things to note:
Heroes will be the Inquisitor (who doesn't appreciate a woman in a long coat), the Lord Comissar (melee support, stealth?) and the Lord General (ranged support, healer);
The campaign will be closer to the MP gameplay. There will be a base (don't know if it will apply to all the maps), and there will be regular squad training. However, there will still be hero level ups outside the missions, and gear and skill distribution.
All in all, it seems very interesting and set to change what we already know about DoW2.
I just found the Baneblade underwhelming. It's like the Express version of one of the biggest, awesomest tanks in War40k. If it's able to strike down 3 Carnifexes before dying, and one-shot Wartrukks's then I might be impressed. But still... Tiniest Super Tank ever?
Oh. Hell. Yes.
My world has been rocked. The Hammer of the Emperor has returned.
Watched the movie more closely, the Baneblade is one big ass piece of hardware. Still, I always pictured it a lot bigger than a Land Raider, and in DoW2 they're not all that different. I got my nerd on and even checked the Lexicanum for both, and they are close in length, with the Baneblade being a bit wider and higher. Also, is the default camera level a bit higher?
So, great job Relic It was just me being wrong.
I really welcome Imperial Guard. I loved them in the original Dawn Of War. Nothing like a good GI. In space.
Ladies, gents, this is why I still get boxed copies:
Standard Ed:
Collector's Ed:
Spotted over GR.org. Images were found at Amazon.de (Standard and Collector's).
Pretty effin' sweet!
That box art is bad ass. Any idea what comes in the Collector's Edition?
Not yet. Details are still scarce, and I'm guessing this was a leak by Amazon.de. Amazon.co.uk still hasn't box art on their offerings.

Remember what Blizz did with having one box art for each race in Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3? The standard ed. of Retribution will also follow that model, but will include exclusive wargear for each box. Later on you'll be able to purchase the wargear you don't have from Steam.
Follow the link for super nice pictures and details about each race pack.
I'm getting the Collector's Ed. What about you guys?
EDIT: Also the Steam store page for RT has been updated.
Weird. So the race packs are only $10 less than the Collector's, which includes all race packs?
But the Collector's version is not on Steam. Only THQ.com. Hm.

It seems like it, yes. But each race pack has only the game and the respective wargear, the CE has that cool poster and printed versions of the loading screens.
I also think you'll only be able to get the CE physically, not digitally.
Oh. Ok, I get what the race packs are about now.
Think of them like pre-order bonuses but instead of getting the Orks from Best Buy or Chaos from Walmart, Relic is letting you pick what race you want extra stuff for while giving themselves the opportunity to make some more money when you finally break down and want the other 5 races' things.
But yeah, Collector's edition is a no-brainer for most of you.
I still have yet to play more than 3 missions in either single player campaign, though, so I might just save myself $10 and get one of the flavored normal copies. Now if they had been offering TF2 hats...
Could happen, who knows?

One of my gaming goals for this year. One game at a time, though!
Never finished the first two either. I'm hoping the fact that I don't have to play as the boring Space Marines will spice things up.
I'm currently playing through the vanilla campaign on Primarch and man is it tough. I thought I did completed this before but I guess I did it on Captain. The Tyranid defense missions seemed nearly impossible, but I think I figured out a good strategy of keeping them at a distance.

I've gone through it on Primarch twice now, and the single piece of advice I can give you is to keep an eye out for each race's (outside of the Space Marines) devastating ranged units. For the Tyranids, it's Warriors with Venom Cannons; for the Eldar it's the Ranged Warlocks who fire lightening bolts, and for the Orks it's their Rokkitt infantry. Each of these units can 1 or 2 shot any member of your squad.
When you have to defend against them, I would recommend bringing Thaddeus upgraded to the point where upon landing after his jump he causes damage, knockback, suppression, and is invincible. Keep Thaddeus in the rear until you see those specific ranged units them jump him to their location. Have him engage and destroy those specific units, then retreat back. Have Avitus and Thule (with cannon equipped) provide long range fire support, and have your Force Commander heal everyone with the rally ability and you should be able to handle pretty much any defense mission on Primarch.

Thank you! Makes a lot of sense. I already thinking of using Thaddeus as a disruptor, to tie up those VC Warriors in melee with Avitus and Tarkus laying down cover fire. Good idea of having my force commander hang back with Rally, I get in the habit of throwing him in the mix and watching him get wasted, even with the shield.

Any word on if you can activate the CE on Steam?
The new expansion uses steamworks, so I'm assuming all the versions activate on steam.

Sadly, the FC loses a lot of his effectiveness on Primarch since he is primarily designed to be a melee unit and on that difficulty he will routinely get shredded by any unit half competent at melee. The FC one redeeming quality is the Rally ability, which is an excellent healing technique and is an absolute life saver at times. My advice is to drop the Iron Halo and roll with a Standard instead to get the Rally ability.
