Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2

Maybe? Keep in mind the "campaign" will only be about 15 missions per race. I'm betting this will still come out at $40.

What are you talking about? I said 15.

Should have used quotes.

KHAAAN!

Comon pre-order bonus! Daddy wants a free THQ game.

Hmmm.... Is the level cap 20 or 30 for the new playable races and their new campaigns?

Could have been that either there weren't enough players online: IIRC, Europe has the bigger active player base (Germans and Ruskies love Warhammer), or that the system isn't sure about your level. How many games do you have under your belt?

I don't remember exactly, but I've definitely gotten thru the hazing period and had some decent matchups. I'm sure it's because everyone is playing SC2--silly old-schoolers.

No wildcards or voodoo magics were used.

Technically, you only beat me once. The 1st game kicked you for having too much lag delay and it took me a while to notice I was playing against the AI, so I conceded the match.

Wat? We finished that game...
Seriously, what? Massive bug or something?

A bunch of times in that game I got lag messages from you and it came up with a vote to kick and I hit no.

Must be a bug, because I had the same issue. I never kicked you, but at some you dropped and it was me with AI.

Since I don't check GWJ every day, but always have Steam running, I'm gonna schedule events for my weekly match-up in the GWJ DoW2 group and my foes can adjust accordingly. It sounds like this little tourney is falling apart. Despite oMonarca's wonderful organizational skills, life seems to always get in the way.

I will never surrender!

Really excited to find out what the new race will be and the additional units. I am thinking Tau is out so it may be the Imperium. Combining IG, Inquisition etc would be better than stand alone IG I think...

Hoping we get Obliterators for Chaos

I'm so pissed having to be stuck with a crappy laptop... I still recommend you guys persevere. The system is in place to take into account absences.

I just hope we manage to hit a spot where most of us can play. I know that it's hard, and there's holiday season coming, but a space marine never falters.

Right? Guys?

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Umm, yeah, imminent (hopefully) move for me ahead, meaning probable non partaking in online games until new net connection is sorted.

Spedman: I think I tried to add you to my steam friends, but can't see you in my list... I should be able to play later today if you're around though.

I'll try to stick in the tourney, but my new job starts on Monday. I'll have to forfeit week 2 against pignoli.

oMonarca, name your time. Try to avoid Saturday/early Sunday. I want to party with GWJers.

Hopefully I will be able to make it next week, maybe as soon as late Sunday.

Fingers crossed!

If you want to bring your laptop, I'm more than happy to broadcast your game for everyone on Saturday =)

Your tag is all too fitting now. I really, REALLY like this idea.

I'm trying to stay strong here, but I have absolutely no desire to play this game at the moment. I really don't. I was meant to play oily in week one, which didn't pan out. Last week I was meant to play Pawz, of which we played 1 game and haven't got back to it, and this week I'm up against Pignoli who is not able to connect either. So all in all, I'm kinda bummed about it all. I think we're just destined to fail at this. In spite of oMonarca putting in an absolute monster effort.

Maybe this was bad timing or something? Everyone seems to have just lost interest in playing. Not sure what the answer is here.

And my move is imminent, meaning tonight will be the last time I can realistically play for a while. I think it is the timing that's off - everyone seems to be up to their eyeballs in other, more pressing concerns. Having said which if you have a chance to play (and feel like it) later, hit me up on steam and we'll see what can be done, though the time difference may be insurmountable at this short notice.

Ok, it seems that a lot of unfortunate events are preventing this from taking off. Spedman, Hiro, penguin, Sabre and, I would assume, Pawz are pulling out or have declared low availability. I'm also on the same boat, currently undergoing a big moving out, so unfortunately I can't guarantee my presence every week.

However, since this wasn't super serious from the start, I don't mind to keep trying. All the rules and groundwork are set, so if the rest of you still want dow2 action, we can keep the light on. What do you say?

BIG UPDATE: So, like the annoying little sh*t that I am, I still want to give this one more shot. I'm back, ready to kick ass and tally scores.

Week 01 I'll call it closed(*). Matches that don't have results submitted will count as losses to both sides. Results for week 02 can still be submitted until the end of Week 03.

Now gentlemen, stop combing the hair on your vaginae, and arm your chainswords. The Emperor demands sacrifice.

Oh, and Pawz... Sabre is already ahead of you. Are you guys leaving this at that?

(*) Fedora and Sped, since you guys played bots last time, will you be doing a rematch? Or else I'm considering you both as defeated.

Mobilize people, let's go go go.

Well Pawz and I played 1 game where we were both Tyranids. He didn't cope very well

Don't think he's super hyped to play any more. We'll see. I might be able to just taunt him all day and see if he responds.

Honestly, I'm still interested. Currently I'm balancing a lot on my plate, but I can still make time during the weekends. That is, before I start NaNoWriMo.

You doing NaNoWriMo?! Awesome! I've always wanted to try it but have lacked the fortitude. Maybe this year is the year!

Guys, I don't know what the hell you are playing, but drop it all off, because DoW2 is where it's at! Don't believe me?

Exhibit A: So you think there are better, faster games out there where you can own noobs? So can you with DoW2 - it rhymes, so it must be true. Watch someone bend over someone and make him his damsel. Someone folds like tin foil, it's really sad.

Exhibit B: So you think Starcraft 2 is the shizniz, because it has buildings? Well let me prove to you, right here, right now, the importance of buildings. In DoW2. That is right.

Exhibit C: So you think Civ5 is a nice, long term strategy game? So is DoW2. I present to you the be all, end all nail biter, where gambits keep getting countered, and the result isn't know by turn 1000ish. This is a heart racer, all the way to the bitter end, ladies and gentlemen.

And do you know what DoW2 has that no other game has? The Imperial Seal of Approval. Can't go wrong with that!

Car salesman mode off now, let me be serious: this was so much fun. I won't spoil the result for now, because the third game was really kick ass. I urge you guys to reconsider giving this a new spin, and just play to have fun.

Man, I'm still smiling.

I still like playing. I'm just too lazy (and I forget) to actually organize my match ups.
It's not that I'm burned out on the game, I'm still totally open to some pick up games. I'm just burnt out on tournaments.

I seriously tried to get home promptly, but life is kicking my ass while I get settled in this city. Sorry I let you down this week oMonarca, we should call it halvezies, because we couldn't make each other's schedules.

Had an awesome time oMonarca. Thanks for those great games.

For anyone else out there, I particularly recommend game 3. Crazy stuff right up to the end.

Well, you don't need to treat it like a tournament. For gameplay purposes, I sure as hell don't. I prefer to think outside the box and just have more fun This tournament thing is just so people have some structure and can schedule around their lives, when possible, since the "show up and if you see me we play" isn't very effective.

No problem man, I'm also on the same boat. Make time when you can. What the hell, since this is being so chaotic, but isn't very big, let's make a new rule: you can play catch-up games anytime, as long as both agree. Any beef, talk to me.

My pleasure That last one was so goddamn epic.

Holy sh*t dudes, that almost makes me want to play again. That was a couple seconds literally from being a victory in the other direction. Completely ridiculous. The fact that Gunner was sitting on over 800 of each resource and nearly 1000 red at the end had me pretty much screaming at the monitor. So many pivotal moments. Gents, thanks for that one. Enjoyed it immensely.

So much destroyed armor

EDIT: BTW, we are already on Week 4. Apologies for the late update. Here are the matchups:

spedman vs cyrax
FedoraMcQuaid vs pignoli
Gunner vs Pawz
oilypenguin vs whispa
oMonarca vs BlackSabre
SuperDave vs SuperHiro

Hey Sabre, Monday will be bank holiday over here, so I'll have some flexibility. Will you bring your bag of richards?

I just recently got this game through steam, about a month ago, and I'm looking to add some mods. I'm not to sure how to go about adding mods in this game.

I've seen that you need to add the -dev to something but I don't know where/how to do it.

I have two mods that I want to try, Squad Mod, and I think I also have a weapons pack that adds in some wargear that wasn't in the game.

If anyone could help me out that would be awesome.

I am running on Vista 64 if that has anything to do with adding the mod.
