The Graveyard (Arthouse Gaming) PC Demo

This is a creepy/interesting little experience. Navigate an old woman through a black and white graveyard. Sit on the bench, and listen.

Finally, a game that combines my secret fantasies of being an old woman and sitting on benches!

Sicko.

Buying the full version of The Graveyard adds only one feature, the possibility of death. The full version of the game is exactly the same as the trial, except, every time you play she may die.

only $5.

This guy needs to take a few marketing classes.

After playing this, I can safely say that this isn't a game - it's a short film. With some kind of song in the middle with lyrics that either get totally lost in translation or make no sense to begin with.

Reading the description is almost bizarre enough for me. Downloading the 'demo' now, can't imagine plunking $5 down on an old-woman death simulator though.

Yeah I never said it was good, just odd. I do love starting off as an old lady though, I mean that's a whole genre they haven't tapped yet I don't get the $5 death package though.. and yeah, that song makes no sense. Something about Jesus's crotch? What?

Certainly beautiful on many levels, but it doesn't really take advantage of the medium in any significant way. With the death feature it might come together better as a game, but that's a ridiculous business model. It doesn't make much sense, unless the business model itself is supposed to be some weird meta-message. He'd have been better off releasing the entire thing for free and encouraging donations.

It's no Passage.

If they got rid of the old woman and the song and just let the camera float around the scene I'd be more likely to buy this as a screensaver.

OoCT.

I wish Steam would put this under the Racing game category.

There's got to be some translation problems with the song (I hope), but I think the reference to Jesus' crotch was her wanting to wipe the cobwebs off one of the Jesus figures affixed to one of the gravestones.

The dev himself states that this is not a game, but rather a sort of interactive painting. I'm pretty sure the song is meant to be poetry. Maybe someone who understands the original language can tell us if it's any better in it's native tongue. As it is, it just came across as nonsense (though pretty sounding).

The guy is probably going to make some money off this, as Steam has millions of subscribers (a typical night has over 1 million different accounts logging in) - and I'm sure some money will come. Sort of like, donations.

That was more or less my take on this. The Graveyard is pretty much a music video that you're required to hold down a button for a few minutes to see. The character animation was pretty good, though, and I'd love to see more games with elderly protagonists.

I get the feeling that charging the five dollars for the Death Pack Bonus Extra is a means of getting people to think about death and our simultaneous fascination/repulsion with it.

I find it amusing that when you finish the thing they give you the option to restart.
