Amazing game you guys. Amazing.

I just finally tried it a week or so ago. Very fun! Anxious to try it again.

You guys, Hand of Fate is on the daily sale today, and it's really fantastic, y'all should check it out.

Any recent feedback on KeeperRL? I'm on vacation, it's a rainy day at the cabin, and I don't have the brainpower to dive back into Dwarf Fortress just yet.

I had no idea this existed! It's still in Alpha though, onto the wishlist it goes.

Have you looked at Gnomoria? It was on sale for $2 somewhere this weekend. Maybe Humble?

I just looked... and I own it already. Shame on me, good call on you. I see they're not updating very much anymore - has it been abandoned, and if so, is it playable in its current state?

EDIT: just noticed that they're still developing, but it's in the opt-in builds, not the main releases automatically pushed out. Excitement back!

I haven't played it in a long time, but even early on it was pretty good for me.

WOW is it good. Thanks for the recommendation/reminder!

Haven't kept up with Keeper, sadly. I love watching Gnomoria vids on youtube, though.

It looks like Gnomoria development has stalled. Some of the comments claim that this may have been a result of microsoft dropping XNA support. That didn't hold Terraria back, which still uses XNA judging from the crash messages I got recently.

It's not stalled - they're releasing patches every week or two. You just have to be on the indev branch - the main branch hasn't been updated in a while. They just added automatons not too long ago. They've not done a good job of explaining that to the Steam user community (hence my earlier hesitation).

See, this is a pitfall a lot of indie studios tend to fall into, you have to let people know what's going on. Even if nothing is going on and there is a reason why, people will accept that if you tell them. From an outside perspective it looks like this game is dead as a dodo and everyone not in the know will say as much in reviews and casual conversation.

Caves of Qud (updated and using a purty tile set) is on Steeeeaaammmm

http://store.steampowered.com/app/33...

The Steam copy is DRM free.

I'm pseudoroguelike news, I picked up Guild of Dungeoneering the other day. I haven't played too much yet, but it scratches that roguelike itch in a very different way. Part roguelike, part puzzlegame, part card game.

Anyone else pick this one up?

I eyed it with a small amount of desire when it came up on Steam's Recent Releases. Great title but it didn't pull me all the way in.

Any iPad/iPhone roguelike recommendations?

Thanks Michael! I've added it to my wishlist, which has become my games-i'm-interested-in-but-can't-buy-right-now reminder list.

Brogue

It's probably the best one on the Ipad and it's free!

Pixel Dungeon - 2.99 USD
iNethack2 - Free

I forgot about Pixel Dungeon, that one is decent too.

I'll have to check out iNethack2.

I picked it up tonight and gave it about 20 min of play. So far, so good, but too short for any kind of recommendation yet. I've heard...

Spoiler:

... it can get grindy in the mid game while you're trying to unlock the second tier heroes, but as I said, too early for me to confirm

Brogue is probably the absolute best if you want to play on an iPad.
100 Rogues is also great, even though I dislike the pricing model. It's well made and the classes have interesting upgrade paths.
WazHack is sort of like a side scrolling Nethack, haven't played it but it's supposed to be good.
Cavern is a bit of an underdog with a devoted fan base. Looks like a classic, solid take on the genre. It's due for a big update and I'm waiting for that before I jump in.
iNethack2 seems like a poor fit for the platform (maybe it's better on iPad), but if you're already a fan maybe it could work.
Hoplite and 868-Hack are fantastic rogue-lites.
As for me, now I'm playing Pixel Dungeon and liking it quite a bit! Works great on a phone without feeling "dumbed down" like Sword of Fargoal or Cardinal Quest. Reminds me a lot of the original Rogue, but with several interesting new ideas and interactions (and more exciting map layouts).

Hoplite for sure! Brilliant game.

I'm voting for Brogue, Hoplite and 868-Hack as well.

Cool. I've downloaded Brogue.

What about Dream Quest, didn't everyone love that?

Oh yeah. I've been meaning to try that. Thanks for the reminder!

It was quite good! Definitely recommended.

Oh wait, dream quest is the best! Probably my most time played of any iOS game the last 2 years. Oops for forgetting!
