"Black Friday" Gaming Deals Catch-all

Seems like the "black friday" ads are starting to leak out... thought it might be worthwhile to start a catch-all thread for any good deals.

First one I found today:

Target -- PSP2000 + 5 UMD movies = $169.00

With the new TV out feature, UMD movies don't seem so stupid anymore.

EDIT: Oops, just read that the 5 films are already pre-chosen. Kinda lame.

1. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
2. Open Season
3. Jumanji
4. Air Force One
5. Casino Royale

4. Air Force One
5. Casino Royale

Those two alone make it worth it.

Not a "black friday" deal, but GameStop is having another UMD sale... $4.99 for a bunch of titles (including FFVII Advent Children).

Those are all enjoyable movies. I'm very tempted to grab this during the sale.

Is that PSP deal in-store only?

I'll pay the extra money on those titles just to avoid black friday like the plague that shares it's color. That day is a nightmare and I have flashbacks of myself working retail and wanting to curl up into a ball in the corner.

This isn't really a Black Friday deal since it's going on right now but I was able to pick up the Turtle Beach X2 wireless headphones for $25 at Best Buy. Great headphones for the price.

I agree 100%. Hell, Target could be selling PSPs with 5 UMD movies for $1.99 and I still wouldn't bother. I despise Black Friday.

If anyone's interested in a HDTV or appliances and wants to avoid the crowds, Sears is having a pre-Black Friday 'Friends and Family' sale tomorrow (11/11/07) from 6 PM-9 PM, open to all and sundry.

They're offering all the non-doorbuster Black Friday prices on everything + 10% off (5% off on TVs $999 or higher, 0% off on all other TVs) + other miscellaneous deals (including 10% off on home electronics for using your Sears card, which you can apparently apply for at the register), making some items even cheaper than they'll be on Black Friday. Combining some of the deals is a bit YMMV, as some stores are apparently confused about how it all works.

There are several HDTVs available at near-ridiculous prices. We're going to pick up a Sony KDL-40W3000 LCD for ~$1450 (normally $1900). (Link to thead on Slickdeals.net, Link to list of items in Sears BF ad)

I do too, actually. I rarely leave the house that day.

Just thought it would be interesting to post some good deals if found

I love Black Friday. It's my only chance to witness absolute insanity without enlisting and with minimal risk of shrapnel injuries. I've seen grown men race at 6:00 a.m. for animatronic reindeer. I saw a woman shove a man with a toy dumptruck. I even seen GBAs tossed two at time across shopping aisles, only to miss their mark and whack some poor woman in the noggin.

Where else would I get that experience?

Last year's Black Friday, 45 minutes in line before store opens. 20 minutes to get the things I was looking for. 1 hour and 15 minutes standing in line to check out. If you bottled that sort of awesome you'd make a fortune. Needless to say, I'll probably do it again this year.

The only times I've ever been in a retail store on black friday were as an employee.

They're not fond memories and I chose to work that day this year. I'll be clocked in at 4:15 in the morning just like usual and I won't get out until almost 3pm, covering all the hours that all you crazies are out and about clogging up roads with far more cars than they can actually handle. In before the crazies get started, out after most of them have gone home.

Sometimes I love my job

I go out of my way on Skin-Color Thursday to stock up on items so that I don't have to drive on Black Friday. I be not fond of that day and, having worked retail, offer my sympathies to those of you who still do.

So alas, unless the Black Friday sale is from an online story I won't be getting any.

*nevermind*

I bought my old fat DS on Black Friday a couple years ago. That's about it, and I still don't think it was worth the insanity.

Due to the crossing of state lines, this will be the first year I don't spend Black Friday at my parents' house snacking on leftovers and playing video games with my brother. That's always seemed a lot better use of my time rather than getting insanely pissed at the idiocy of my "fellow man" while trying to save a couple of bucks.

To keep the thread on track, if people post deals please make a note if it's available online for those of us that choose to avoid rubbing elbows with the great unwashed during the Day of Wanton Consumerism* lest it lead to prison time.

*Not to be confused with the Day of Wonton Consumption, which is actually April 17th.

Honest and true. I don't ever go to purchase anything on Black Friday, I just like going to the mall and watching ordinary people compete in some mish-mash of UFC, the NFL and the Battle of Stalingrad. Plus, there's the hangdog looks of the people stuck working Black Friday, who I feel so bad for, year after year.

As a former retail monkey, I have black listed black friday. I hate that day and will not have anything to do with it.

I've only done Black Friday once, but I netted a 32" HDTV for $475. Totally worth it!

Yeah, found out about that the other day and ordered both FF movies, Steamboy, Dark Crystal, and pre-ordered Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Can't beat 5 movies for $25 + shipping (I got discount shipping as well with the code "SAVER").

I'm just hoping for some decent holiday sales for 60gb PS3s. I'm getting really, really close to buying one for Ratchet & Clank, but I've restrained myself thus far.

Oh, so Black isn't a skin color? I suppose African Americans are covered with delicious chocolate? Racist.

No, chocolate is a skin color. Black is the absence of all light. Man, can you imagine someone with true black skin? That'd be effing freaky man.

Two things make Black Friday enjoyable, booze and a very dry wit.

Side note:I love how retarded people can be. It's Called Black Friday because on this day most retailers put their accounts back in the black. Anyone who's worked retail knows that sales are horrible through the year until this day.

So for those that don't know, I once again state that Black Friday is not some coined term for "There is a sale so all the black people come out to shop." It's an accounting term of when the Ink goes from red to black due to increased sales.

Wow. Was that in question at some point? :boggle:

EDIT: Do only black people shop during sales? I feel so sheltered...

lol, reading the experiences that you guys have posted, I am almost tempted to go out for this Black Friday just to capture some of those "kodak" moments

Maybe I can blackmail some of these people

Thanks Grumpicus for throwing the wet blanket of statistics on top of it all!

I love Black Friday! I have not been able to sneak off into one due to my job but next year damnit I AM GOING! I see all sorts of cool laptops for the cheap as well as computer stuff and makes me all fuzzy inside.. until I realize by the time I get off work the stores will be gutted and filled with Zombie like employees..

The day is crazy but if you plot out what you want to can find good deals... watch amazon should be good things happening there.

I usually go to the sales after New Year's. Not as busy and some things are so cheap they're almost giving it away.

thanks for the info! I am curious to see the online sales records though.

Keep in mind, a lot of the Black Friday deals are online. No need to wait in line.
