Welcome to Tokyo everyone!

Looking forward to this being on a Steam sale so I can check it out.

Nice! Time to hop back in to this, I was waiting on the Tokyo update. My concern is that I never finished up the main storyline in Romania, because it's really freakin' difficult near the end.

I managed to solo the end of Romania, somehow. Maybe a couple of us can get together and help run the people who haven't finished yet through it.

I don't know if you have to have finished Romania to get to Tokyo, but you do have to have done the special training missions in Venice.

I think I stopped after the first couple of quests in Egypt.

Yeah, I had to force myself through Egypt; I thought it was pretty "meh". Things pick up in Transylvania but Kingsmouth was the best part of the game, IMHO.

Kingsmouth was by far the best part of the game in both map and with building out your character. Past that it went downhill quick and skills and point got too confusing and sloppy.

I'm in Egypt; I tried a bit in Transylvania but decided I needed to level up more. That was, oh, maybe a year ago. Good game, just have not got back into it.

That's interesting, I loved the 2nd Egypt area the best out of everything (so far). I regularly go back there to run through stuff.
I'm also mid-way through the Romania story-line, and I think you do need to finish it in order to get to Tokyo (I think they said that the Tokyo story picks up where the Romania story ends, so...)
I'd be down for jumping in to a group to finish Romania. Let's work out a day/time!

I've had the game for awhile but just started really playing it over the past couple of days.
I started with the assault rifle path, but I'm second guessing that choice. So far 95% of the enemies I've faced close ground pretty quickly and usually bring friends with them. Although there are assault rifle AE attacks I'm wondering if I should switch to shotgun. If I do have I "wasted" points, or will using the shotty get me just as many through it's use?

Secret world breaks some molds in that those points are far from wasted.

You will eventually be able to have the entire wheel. It is very common to mix passives of several trees with your weapons of choice to achieve builds.

That said the leeching assault rifle build can be very strong for solo play and is what I use.

SP is also unlimited in reality and eventually you will have every weapon maxed if you play enough so feel free to expiriment.

Keep in mind that areas and quests are made to be repeated though and this is especially true if you expiriment a lot.

Wonderful, that's my kind of scene. I'm thinking of maybe sword for melee. I'm Casisto in game if anyone wants to friend me up. Well, Burt "Casisto" Covington to be accurate. I used my name from The Hunter.

Also remember that you can have two active weapons at a time. Open with an AR attack then switch to something melee when they get close. My main is an AR/Blade build and I soloed through the end of Transylvania.

May I highly, highly recommend that you use the Decks? TSW, as Maladen mentions, breaks a lot of molds, and the synergies between your two weapons, and between the active and passive skills they grant, are finely tuned. I recommend the decks for a time because they offer good builds and will help you learn what a good build looks like.

I always started with shotgun. Versatile weapon for soloing.

Thanks for the input all.

Some of the outfits you get from the Decks look really good too, I love the Templar Paladin outfit.

I started with Templar Executioner, but right now the Crusader look is my go-to.
I've almost finished out all the Templar decks, and then it's on to finishing EVERYTHING out.

I've been thinking about it since it was on sale a couple of days ago. If it shows again up at the end of the Steam Sale, it's mine.
*fingerscrossed*

Is it feasible to play this super casual, like an hour at a time?

Yup. Most of the quests are in discrete segments, so even if you don't finish one, you can still get a sense of progress from an hour's play.

I have reinstalled, have a lifetime sub, and will be rolling a fresh persona. what server are you folks on now, especially the new guys

Server doesn't matter unless you're doing PVP. For the base game you can invite anyone from any server to your group.

Oh yeah, thats right. Its been quite a long time since i have played.

Went with Arcadia, based on some of the posts to this thread. Due to odd naming requirements, ended up as Lt-Warhound.

I did play this back in the beta, saw most of Kingsmouth and the Savage Coast, but Polaris wasn't available then. So it was nice to run through completely new stuff. Unfortunately, the tank was overgeared and very familiar with the 'dungeon', which tends to spoil it for me. Makes it a cakewalk with no real sense of achievement. I was entertained, though, so overall it was still good.

Still haven't figured out what I want for my skills. I have a solid AR/Blade deck, but I did AR during the beta. Decisions, decisions.

I rolled a new dragon named Akareth. Send me a friend request. I forgot how much fun this game is.

I started up again. I'm in the City of the Sun God, name is Robear. I can still invite people into Gamers With Jobs if you need a guild, just look for me on.

are guilds still faction locked?

I started up again as well. Coming back to a sh*t ton of TSW bucks was a nice surprise as a lifetime subber.

I can invite to the crusader guild, just let me know.

I'm not sure, Cobble. I'll check.
