The Secret World

didn't i read a dungeon finder was coming in this update as well? I thought i saw that somewheres

Boooo:

"Issue #2 - Digging Deeper" will be coming next week

As mentioned yesterday, there was an issue found that could have led to a severe exploit that we want to fix before "Issue #2 - Digging Deeper" is deployed to the live servers. Unfortunately, it will take us some more time to make sure the issue is removed and the new version has been thoroughly tested.

We will keep on working over the weekend to fix the remaining issue and make sure that the final version will be ready for the live servers next week. As soon as all the details are available, we will announce the downtime for the update over the usual channels early next week.

We are as eager to get “Issue #2” to the live servers as much as you guys probably are. But we need to make sure that the version is ready and doesn’t contain any severe issues before it’s deployed to the Live servers. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, check out the link below to the preview video for Issue #2 where Lead Content Designer Joel Bylos shows what the update will have in store.

Sigh.

I hate to say it, but when you lay off half the QA staff, this sort of thing happens...

Oh for f**k's sake.

*sigh*

I love the game but this sh*t is getting ugly and ridiculous. Hrm...ridiculugly?

It's almost starting to seem as though the company is deliberately working against the game.

EDIT: well, in this instance that actually WAS the case, but I meant in general.

I'm starting to think that Funcom is a division of Blizzard, working to make sure Kung Fu Panda makes more money... or something.

I've been saying that since before they launched.

Yeah EA+Funcom wasn't exactly an inspiring combo but even if they were to close up shop today I've gotten far more hours of play out of it than it cost me in hours of work to buy it, I'm sure I'm not alone in this. If it does end up having to close I'll be sad to see it go not only because I enjoy it but especially because of the message that sends to other developers who might be willing to risk breaking some mmo molds.

Agreed, even if it shut down today I would not have any regrets about my lifetime sub. The game is different, and different is never a sure thing.

I agree. I'm enjoying the mechanics, and the story. What's sad is that the quality level of new material either won't match the original, or will necessarily be delayed.

Funcom: "We have the tools to make The Secret World free-to-play"

In (maybe?) good news

After the recent re-structuring of our internal teams, The Secret World is now a profitable operation and we expect it to be so for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll go ftp at some point, it's just a matter of how long. And the game will stay around for a while, which is good.

Meanwhile, I've hit a bit of a speed bump in Egypt; those Roman Legionnaires are kicking my ass. OTOH, I found my first QL 10 item, so... progress?

Those Romans are QL10 content. It's possible to beat them early, but you may be happier if you come back later for the QL10 stuff after you visit Transylvania. Each Transylvania zone also has similar QL10 (and QL10 group) stuff in it.

Yeah, I should have suspected that when the QL 10 dropped. Found a Signet too. I'm in 7s and 8s otherwise.

What is nice is that I can almost handle the area. If I can keep with one mob/group at a time and have a few seconds to recover between fights I'm OK, but it seems that any fight in there attracts other groups and I can't keep up with the adds.

Oh well, I was there since Khalid was the only guy I hadn't done the missions for yet. Guess I'll go back to the main quest, which I honestly had stopped because I haven't felt like working out what order to activate the statues in. (Yeah, I know that I can look it up but I'd rather do the main quest on my own.)

And I've somehow confused the game because it keeps telling me that almost every mission is "Easy" or "Very Easy". (Um... no.) I think I made the mistake of bumping my talisman skills up to 10 and it somehow thinks I'm in QL 10 gear. Oh well.

I have this problem. My weapons and talisman skills are up to 10, but everything else is at 8.

Yep that's how the system works. If you keep your gear at roughly the same level as your skills, the difficulty changes pretty radically. On a side note, IIRC your stats are based on the weapon in your left hand.

So maybe I'll see some people on, this coming weekend? That would be cool.

Since no one has mentioned it, Issue #2 is now active! Finally!

Found the portal gun yesterday!

Also, the ettin capture quest 2nd step was quite funny!

TSW in the news lately with Ragnar Tornquist stepping back from Senior Producer to concentrate on being Creative Director. Joel Bylos (formerly Lead Content Designer) promoted to Game Director.

And effective today, Issue #3 is live: http://www.thesecretworld.com/news/u...

Whoa! That was fast! Issue 2 just came out last week. Guess they're trying to get back on schedule.

Is anyone still playing regularly or has everyone moved to GW2? I still need to find a group to run Darkness War; I'm about to finish Egypt and probably should do the last mission I'm missing on Solomon Island before heading to Transylvania.

In the coming weeks you should also look forward new outfits available in the in-game store and a completely new awesome pet with a jet pack on its back!

Jet pack pets? What?

Wow, that was quick. Looking at the notes it doesn't look like there were any major additions this patch which is okay with me.

I still play but TSW is sharing time with GW2, Borderlands 2, Dark Souls, and other games I'm playing right now.

I did have a lot of fun picking up the rocket launcher.

Hrm...I need to play this weekend because I have a bunch of bonus points I need to spend before they go away.

I'm kind of irritated that they are hyping the new clothing coming to the store in the coming weeks. I feel it was a bit of a bait and switch to offer all of these bonus points for money spent on pre-order and then they don't put enough content in the store to actually spend all the points. Then, as the window to use the bonus points closes they announce new stuff coming to the store. It makes me a lot less likely to want to spend money on their cash shop.

I'm also time-sharing but I'll try to put some in this coming weekend. I'm near the end of Egypt; currently running the statue quests. I poked my nose into Transylvania but I'm not fully geared for it yet.

I am still playing on a regular basis

I am feeling the same, I have been hoardinf up barber and surgeon vouchers to just burn down my extra points...

I somehow ended up with an absurd amount of points. I bought everything i was interested in and then some... Of course even if they were to all go it's not that big of a deal to me.

Main theory is that the "new" items in the store are going to be Halloween costumes.

Odd that they're having a Halloween event, given that in-game it's apparently been around or just after Halloween since launch. (There are Halloween decorations all over Kingsmouth and Carter is still wearing her costume from the Halloween Prom.)
