The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Catch-all

I'm surprised that this game is coming out on Tuesday and nobody is talking about it. From the early reviews it looks like this game is set to continue the the gaming greatness that we have received over the last 2 months.

The DS has had a pretty dry software year but Phantom Hourglass aims to end that streak.

Early Reviews:

IGN: 9/10

Euro Gamer (Import): 9/10
Gamespot: 9/10

I don't have time for this now! Curse you Nintendo. I guess this goes on the stack, probably parallel to Halo 3.

It sounds like they went with a more casual approach for this Zelda over past versions and I am happy to hear this.

I may pick this up. If I don't, then I will finally be selling my DS Lite.

Arghh! Is it really coming out tuesday? What an awful time to be a gamer with other things to do.

I guess the fall wallet-rape is officially beginning. The timing is great: I've got a long country getaway weekend coming up, and was lamenting the lack of TF2/Halo out in the woods. I'm super excited for this game, just like anything with the Zelda name.

I'm trying not to get too excited about it, because I've a) got no money for it; and b) have a stack of games I should play before hand. But, eh, who am I kidding? I'll probably be there release day anyway.

Just realized I can get this from Gamefly....YES, I will be playing it. :O

Most likely I'll pick this up next week.

Where have you been! My wallet has been feeling the squeeze for quite a few weeks now. I'll be picking this up on Tuesday. My only concern is that the reviews claim that its easier / shorter then the previous handheld Zelda incarnations.

I hear you there Haiku. Dont these game companies have any respect for RL issues...

The holiday damage officially started for me with Bioshock, but now it's only increasing in frequency and intensity. I fear the coming of November, in which the multiple weekly releases are going to leave as little more then a dry and depleted husk.

Definitely grabbing this next week. So many games that I want this month... It's just too much!

Tuesday? For reals? I'd completely forgotten. I'll definitely be buying.

Oh, man... next week! I guess I better finish Wind Waker before I buy this one. That'll buy me some time on the purchase.

I'm on the road next week, so this would be perfect. I'm hoping someone at the airport has it (sniff).

I'm going to be driving out to Vegas and flying home next week, so this would be nice to have for the plane ride. I haven't touched my DS since I finished Resident Evil: Deadly Silence.

I almost feel like I need to plan a vacation so I can spend many guilt free hours digging into this one.

Anyone spot an retail deals better than the $34.99 SRP?

Best Buy is $34.99... I just refuse to buy a game on a handheld for over $30 anymore. Surely the bargain fairy is shining on this game somewhere?

I wish I had Matt, but I haven't. It is a Nintendo flagship game however, and those never seem to sink in price. New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS are still selling for $35.

It may be one of those "use a gift certificate and don't dwell on it" issues.

*edit* CAG has a summary of Zelda deals, much like they had for Halo 3.

It looks like FamilyVideo.com has it for $26 before tax and shipping.

The only DSes I see at the airport are in the hands of small children, and I'd feel creepy asking to play with them.

Anyway, I'll probably pick this up for either the Thanksgiving or Christmas family meet and greets. It's nice to have a solid game waiting for me in internet-free evenings back home.

Not that I've seen, although there's a T'R'U deal where you can get a free ($20) strategy guide along with the game.

The coupon codes have been reported, but I don't think anyone has noted that familyvideo.com has The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass available for pre-order for $29.99 + 0.99 shipping - $5 off for new customers or $3 off for existing customers with coupon. Net price is $25.98 or $27.98. Amazon is listing a price of $34.99 for it.

$5 off new customers: NEWPGMEM
$3 off existing custs: NEWMEM3F

Of course this game isn't going to ship until October, so other deals might come up, but this one sounds pretty good to me. I did put in an order and the $5 off coupon, at least, did work with this pre-order.

Too lazy to verify. Don't own a DS.

Scaphism beat you to it, but thanks. I ended up going for this deal... the coupon DOES work, shipping is 99 cents, and I have a copy coming in the mail for almost $10 less than retail. Nice.

Well crap. That's what I get for trying to participate AND work at the same time. . .

I just took advantage of this deal too. Has anyone ordered from them before? Hopefully it will come in a reasonable amount of time.

it said 5-10 days, I think... I'm assuming it will be similar to the free shipping Amazon offers.

If you just have to play it right away, you could buy it at your favorite store and then return the shipped copy to the store when it arrives in the mail. I admit to doing it for Bioshock when I was able to pick it up at TRU when they broke the street date.

I tried to purchase this at lunch today but was unsuccessful. The website says they have some in stock, so I've placed an order for pickup after work. Anyone have it yet to post impressions?

As long as I get it sometime next week I will be happy. I'm a little scared that I haven't gotten an email saying it shipped yet though.

I picked it up this morning on the way into work. so far it's good, but I've only played for half an hour or so, and a chunk of that was taken up with the pre-game cutscene and backstory. does anyone actually care about the Zelda stories at all? They just seem like such utter rubbish to me that I hate every second I need to spend listening to them.

Thankfully, once it was over, the gameplay feels like a classic zelda title, and my only complaint thus far is that I'm having a little bit of a hard tiem reliably producing roll attacks.

I'm in the same boat as you with the story. I don't really want to miss any clues but I find the dialog unbearable. The Zelda games are all about the puzzles for me.
