WoW: Lower City Rep

I am not sure who was in charge of designing instances for Lower City rep, but they must be cruel.

Ugh, so I finally got to see Auchenai Crypts. I don't think I'll be back without my Paladin ever again, if I can help it. What a grueling, grinding place. Rep was pretty pitiful, too, considering the effort involved.

I suppose Sethekk Halls is the best of the lot.. and grinding/buying Arakkoa Feathers.

Apologies to Rybowl for dragging him in there when I am pretty sure he didn't want to go to start with. But, dang it, I want to see every place at least once.

Kudos go out to Dhal, Mal (Epe), Leap, and Bly for making it through the run. At least we did the whole thing and even one shotted on the last boss.

PS: Also looking for advise on how to actually find time to talk over Vent when Dhalvid is on there?

It gets worse, the run from Honored to Revered is basically just Shadow Labyrinth over & over. I hate that place now.

Yea, SL can start to suck after you've run it enough. WoW Wiki has the info on it, and if you're looking to avoid much of the SL grinding, I highly suggest grinding Arakkoa out in Terrokar Forest for the feathers, 30 per turn in, and rocking that repeatable quest till you hit honored. Between that, Auchenai Crypts(Yuck) and Sethekk Halls(I kinda like this one, it drops Set 3 parts) will take you to honored as well. Save your quests till this point, and you'll be most of the way to revered, at which point you can do any of the three instances on normal for SL or Heroic for the other two to hit Exalted, should you so desire.

We usually just switch channels without telling him.

We love ya Dhal!

Can I ask a newb question here? As someone who's highest char is only 41, I hear you guys talking about reputation in the expansion but I have no idea what it's for. Is this for nice to have stuff or is it required to go places in the expansion? Seems like kind of a crappy, lazy time-sink mechanic on Blizzard's part if it's the latter. Isn't that the kind of crap EQ pulled in Velious?

It's both actually.
Most factions are tied to the 5man and higher dungeons. Gaining rep with those factions will allow you to get some really good items, and some of the best items offered before late in Kara at Exalted. Also, to get to the Heroic dungeons (for Badges of Justice, some really nice purples), you need to be revered with the faction associated to that dungeon.

Krin has the right of it. To be honest, a good instance with a good group (GWJers) is always a lot of fun. So I don't mind the rep grind in that case.. typically, there are people looking for equipment out of almost any run anyway.

However, even a group of good friends can be straining in a bad instance that offers little in the way of fun. I don't mind hard and I certainly don't mind dying... but the two combined with a 3 hour + run will tax even the most upbeat of people... especially when some of the encounters seem unnecessary and/or unbalanced. Unless, of course, the Rep and/or Loot was to-drool-for.

So, a reasonably well-balanced group that consists of 3 at level and 2 above level players, all whom I consider good at what they do, should be able to go into any 5-man and have a good time. After a while, I don't think the Crypts counted as such. The Loot was meh... and the rep was pathetic, to be honest.

That said, I still enjoyed running with guildies and would do it again, even to the Crypts, for friends.

It wasn't so bad Shade. I don't know if I will be going back to that place anytime soon, but I was happy to go there at least once. As stated, it's nice running with a good group of people.

I can see how a pally tank in there would be easier than the warrior though. There are so many multi mob pulls and it is maddening trying to hold onto all of them from a warrior perspective. Especially when the ghosties spawn and start eating priests in the middle of the fight.

Well I don't think any of us had been there before so if we had the experience we have now it would have been a decent amount faster I think. I did end up with about 700 rep for the run. That's on par with Hellfire but Hellfire only takes 30-40 minutes with a good group. Also they need more than two bosses in AC.

On the bright side, Aesildur is now Revered with HH without ever having had to run once in SH. Those runs will just be for fun, gear (if there's any there for healers), and to work towards Exalted. I suppose I could do Heroics there already, too.. if I wanted to die

Hello? Hello?... Is this mic even on.. I gues I am going to have to turn it up a little more.
os
I had fun too.. I forgot I had auto loot on and have never used it.. was using it for practicing my fishing form. I dont think I like it very much though.

I wouldnt mind running those again any time you need someone. I need rep also and those soul shards are nice also.

Well, I prefer Sethekk Halls for now I was in a PUG for that and it went fast, with almost 3x the rep, and no deaths... so it should be even more fun with GWJ

Also.. managed to finally see, go through, complete, all over Durnholde. That was a challenge to heal through, especially during the escort, but the pug I was in managed to do so without a single death.

I might even get to see BM sometime soon finally! Woot!
