Happy Hump Day Survey!

Annette Bening

.

Not conventional: Adele. Dear god, that singing voice. I have a serious thing for music and voice, and I don't give two sh*ts about her weight (and her current kid notwithstanding). Hope the rumors about her smoking like a chimney are false, though.

Frozen in time: I got nothin'. Maybe the obligatory Carrie Fisher from the Star Wars days, but only because Demyx got me thinking along those lines with her Harrison Ford suggestion (and that Return of the Jedi costume).

Cartoon: Too many to be considered "normal". But I'll go with the one I consider most obscure: Yae from the Mystical Ninja series. Long, green hair (I have a thing for non-natural hair colors), badass ninja, plays the flute, can morph into a mermaid, and the clincher was the second N64 game, where in 2-player mode, she can ride the other PC piggyback-style. Cue Napoleon Dynamite: "Lucky!"

Gender/orientation Exceptions: I got nothin'. I haven't "man crushed" much, much less on celebrities.

-"not conventionally attractive" crush: Santigold
-Your "frozen in time" crush: Laurie Anderson
-Your "bugs bunny in a dress" crush on a cartoon character: The heart broken squirrel in 1963 Sword and the Stone disney cartoon.
-Your "I'd make an exception" crush: Stephen Colbert. We could play D&D together!

Who is your unlikely celebrity crush? Some suggestions might be:

-Your "bugs bunny in a dress" crush on a cartoon character

Gaw... this could take a while to list out... :p

"not conventionally attractive" crush: I have a lot of these but I think my newest one is Nick Offerman

"frozen in time" crush: Jimmy Stewart 1940s, especially in The Philadelphia Story

"bugs bunny in a dress" crush: Guess I'll go with Robin Hood. The fox one.

"I'd make an exception" crush: Emma Stone or Jennifer Lawrence

Remember, suggestions are always welcome! Just send me a PM. Feel like I've been grasping a bit the past few weeks

This was almost my answer for the last two.

Thought on it a bit more. I'm thinking my unconventional celebrity crush right now is John Oliver. I don't find him physically attractive by any stretch of the imagination, but braaains...

I'm kind of infatuated with Emily Bazelon. I'm not really sure why but she's pretty great.

I have to amend my list. Watching Wheeler Dealers, I realize I have an orientation exception celebrity "man crush" on Edd China, the mechanic on the show. I guess "celebrity" is debatable, but he's on TV, good enough for me. Dude's a car wizard, I'm amazed at his know-how and his mechanical skills (he welds, it just stuns me). I could sit here watching and listening to him work on cars all day. If he did a workshop on car repairs, I'd go in a heartbeat. It's quite captivating, really.

That scene is so sad.

That scene is so sad.

I'M NOT A SQUIRREL! I'M A BOY! So sad.

Here are my answers I guess:

-Your "not conventionally attractive" crush

Can't think of one. I'm pretty fickle, picky, and shallow. Might explain why I've been single forever.

-Your "frozen in time" crush

Jean Seberg

-Your "bugs bunny in a dress" crush on a cartoon character

Well, now it's that squirrel from Sword in the Stone. That girl chipmunk from Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers is one from my childhood. Probably wouldn't be if I saw it as an adult.

-Your "I'd make an exception" crush on someone who is not the gender you are usually attracted to

Cillian Murphy

The girl chipmunk? I'm assuming you mean the mouse Gadget. Unless you mean the bat Floxglove, which is also acceptable. I guess you could mean the Tammy Squirrel, but in that case... really? :p

Ha! Yeah, Gadget. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...

Not conventionally attractive...ehhh, I got nuthin. It's pretty frickin' hard to find unattractive famous women. Most of people's picks I look at and find them really conventially attractive.

Frozen in time: Sherilyn Fenn, circa Twin Peaks

Bugs bunny in a dress: Pam. What's not to love about a chupacabra for dicks?

Exception: Hmm. I did find Mitch Pileggi weirdly attractive during when rewatching season 3 X-Files episode Avatar. Alternatively, The Iron Bull.

Not conventionally attractive crush: Leslie Hall.

Frozen in time: Grace Kelly.

Bugs Bunny: Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon.

Lady Vashtra from Doctor Who; she's rather uncomfortably attractive for a lizard woman.

Exception: I honestly can't think of anyone.

Not conventionally attractive: My wife and my girlfriend

Frozen in time crush: Kelly LeBrock circa Weird Science.

Dudely exception: Brad Pitt circa Fight Club. Duh.

EDIT - i have a better not conventionally attractive one - there's a ....I don't even know the term- comedy/burlesque performer called Queen Shmooquan that I have the serious hots for. Her act is utterly insane, and I'm far more attracted to her on-stage than off (where, she's actually kind of a looker). What can I say? I like 'em crazy.

Wow. The voice would drive me mad. No, wait, it does. Guess it drives you mad in a good way.

I'll admit she doesn't fit any of the categories, I just wanted an excuse to post her.

Maura Tierney is 50, so she's pretty close to "frozen in time."

She's got that Elven blood that Diane Lane and Chris Lowe have.

50 is the new 30.

HAPPY HUMP DAY!!

What are the best movie scenes where someone is playing a video game?

So realistic... reminds me of that time I got the high score at the trailer park when I was a teenager! My best girl by my side, everyone came running to cheer me on, and then alien Robert Preston showed up and whisked me away to save the galaxy! Typical Saturday night, really.

This is the one I always think of

(although both "best" and "video game" are debatable in this case!)

Oooh, Demyx, you win.

I instantly wanted to bring in a clip from Scott Pilgrim in this case, but aside from Young Niel idly playing his DS I don't think there really is a scene where anyone is playing a -oh, wait, no, the Ninja Revolution game.

Still, this film is on my Netflix queue so I have no idea what quality the film has, but I love that they wanted Shadow of the Colossus to reflect Adam Sandler's plight and just had Sandler and Don Cheadle play the game and recorded it after so many films just have kids tapping buttons and talking about stuff completely unrelated to the actual game on screen.

What's that? It was distributed by Columbia Pictures? Who was bought by Sony in 1989? I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.... >.>

Maybe not the best, but this always makes me smile...
