"Spider-Man" Maguire bringing Robotech to the big screen

I loved that Battleship - it was the coolest. I dont know any of the rest of that Robotech stuff, but I remember that Battleship. While I agree Toby isnt all that manly - some of those characters in these cartoons arent exactly spitting images of stereotypical manly.

Tobey's allegedly got his eyes on the role of Rick Hunter. IGN's got a casting wish list and while I'd disagree on most of the choices of being not fitting or too unrealistic in terms of casting, Eastwood and Fillion are great choices. I'm just wondering how they'd pull off the Zentraedi without it looking hokey.

Big robots, big explosions, who needs actors - put helmets on them and leave them in the cockpit. Heck dub in their voices.

With, say, the original voice tracks of the show.

Actually Tobey would make a better Max Sterling. Clint Eastwood as Gloval would be great but it'd never happen.

Kiera Knightly is an awful choice for Lisa Hayes. Amanda Bynes isn't bad as Minmei.

Clive Owen as Breetai and Heath Ledger as Khyron are great picks. Of course we are starting to get into the 150 million dollar range just for salaries here. Tricia Helfer as Azonia is great.

Oh and I want to change my wishlist so that Kate Beckinsale is Miriya Sterling. I think its a better fit.

Nathan Fillion as Fokker is great, but for that matter we could probably do a Firefly to Macross conversion. Adam Baldwin is Ben Dixon, Ron Glass is Gloval, Zoe is Miriya Sterling, Simon Tam is Max Sterling, Kailee is Minmei, Morena Bacarin is Azonia, the guy that played Atherton could be Khyron...

Or maybe a Whedonverse conversion:
Fillion - Fokker, Baldwin - Breetai, Boreanas - Ben Dixon, Wesley - Max Sterling, Giles - father of Robotechnology (Dr. Lang), Dushku - Miriya Sterling, Spike - Khyron, Bacarin - Azonia, Michelle Tractenburg - Minmei, Fred - Lisa Hayes

I have no idea what any of that is about.

Lisa Hayes - Julianne Moore might be a better fit? We need her to be older than Rick Hunter, have reddish hair and have that bitching presence of trying to prove herself too hard.

Toby would in fact be a better Max Sterling character.

Rick Hunter - We need someone who is a bit brash and arrogant yet charming at other times and obviously an idiot when it comes to women because he would rather be flying. So someone who comes off as dumb or unobservant. How about Colin Farrel? He's charming, arrogant and dumb.

We need a Russian in charge as Gloval. I will not except anyone with any other accent.

I'm pretty sure Eastwood can do the Russian accent.

Let me guess. The movie Firefox where he speaks Russian to get the super uber plane to work.

Hmmm, how about Daniel Radcliffe? Or as much as I hate to say it, Ashton Kutcher? Kutcher may be a bit more age appropriate to Fillion's Fokker, and Tobey's Sterling. He can sorta play non-idiot goofball as in the Butterfly Effect and some of his juvenile prankster would work as Hunter. His biggest problem is could we root for him? I think opposite Fillion's charm, yes (for spoiler reasons I wont divulge).

Think anyone will have blue/green hair?

Radcliffe is a bit too young to pull it off, but Kutcher definitely could. If you have any doubts, I offer you this.

Those have all actually been floating around for a while now. Still a good find nonetheless.
