I ALMOST DIED

Who is the Kid?

Think of it as an opportunity: you don't have to be tempted by new posts in the Diablo 3 thread anymore.

Glad it isn't only me. I thought maybe there had been another Steam sale or something.

Yeah, I'm seeing everything since about a month ago as "New".

Looks like it's time to start making up for my borderline productivity today during the outage.

Heheh. It's going to take awhile to recover from this one.

Forums -> "Mark all forums as read."

There, now you're current.

But. But. What if I miss a witty comment!?

I do that every now and then, but sometimes it's interesting to look into a thread that gets a lot of traffic that I don't look at normally to see "what's going on in here", which resetting the new posts count sets me back on.

I got all excited when I saw there were 77 unread posts in the Catherine thread. But now, I has a sad.

Sure, but right now everything is "new" as of one month ago. I think genuinely new things will get lost in that.

Yeah looks like it kicked "last unread" status back to about July 6.

Can't wait to sit down and dig into the Diablo 3 thread. There must be some awesome gameplay info and footage in there.

AGAIN? DURING FANTASY FOOTBALL DISCUSSION TIME?

Eh I just wasted time in a different way, clearing the pile games. ;)

You're supposed to clear those? I've been doing it wrong then....

I thought I was supposed to pick whatever game had the next achievement on the "My Easy Achievements" list? I like the variety of spinning the ol' achievement wheel.

Except for Geometry Wars 2. Die in a fire!!!

Did the site just have a great big reset of something, I'm seeing hundreds of unread posts in threads where I was the last poster.

I'm the last poster in the Steam Summer 2011 Sale thread... with 2200+ unread posts waiting for me.

I'm pretty sure there also used to be a byline in the "Last Updated" column.

OMG They are publishing DNF for real!!!
/sarcasm

Hope the forum will behave from now on

It's interesting to see how many posts can accumulate in a month with various threads.

Have our benevolent overlords said anything about what has been going on?

Doogiemac did: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/51662?page=8#comment-1927314

And again today.

And I think it's still kinda slow. Hopefully tomorrow better.

For anyone who's interested, Doogiemac put up a Twitter feed for GWJ site status updates.

Horribly, horribly named. It should be called "Is_*Legion*_Dead_Yet?"

Ow, my balls!

Edit: I know the site has had a bunch of troubles with Linode's Fremont data center... maybe it's time for a move. I've had a lot of luck in the Newark, NJ data center: 336 days uptime and counting!

The hell? TWO outages at a hosting facility? Don't they have power backup?

How can I help make sure this never happens again?

Are we sure this wasn't the usual overnight downtime? This is the first I've checked the site since we posted Charlie's front page piece yesterday.
