Awww, I asked about forming a band and got excluded right off the bat?

Don't worry, we've got space in Premature Jocularity.

You can join my band, The Sound of Mordor.

I'll drum for a band, but the name better have something to do with fingers and butts.

This is good.

That's good, because I'm already the drummer.

I'm pretty good at GH. Not as good as farscry, but I'd say I can hold my own. I'm currently stuck about halfway through Expert mode. I'll definitely be grabbing rock band. I know that eventually I'll end up grabbing the drum kit, but I'm not sure when or where I'll have the room for that.

The drum controller thing is really just the first step in convincing myself that I can fit an electric set in my apartment.

You know I'll play with you anytime! Am I the only person who's already thought about setting up a mic stand so I can sing and play guitar at the same time? Although that may be impossible without memorizing the guitar part, which is what makes it possibly for me in real life.

Do people really want to form bands for this game, or just, y'know, jam with whoever's online?

I never was much for long-term commitment anyway. I'm a slutty rocker, I will rock out with whoever offers.

Oh man... that's a GREAT idea!

All the above. I'd love a regular band to join and jam with, but I'm sure I'll be game to just rock out with anyone from the community anytime! Heck, if GH2 had multiplayer online, I'd be playing that even more!

Electronic Arts (EA) and Harmonix sent in two new press released today regarding the in-game content for video game Rock Band that is expected to be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. The first among the many revelations is that full-length albums will be available for download aside from the game's first 16 songs.

Aside from that, it was also said that the first album that will be ready for download is The Who's iconic record "Who's Next" that made tremendous waves during its 1971 release. If that still didn't do it for you, be informed that MTV Networks and Harmonix also announced that they have just signed a deal with legendary band Metallica.

"Metallica is one of the best loved bands in the world and their albums redefined hard rock and metal. Its one of the bands we had to bring to the Rock Band experience," commented Harmonix CEO and Co-founder Alex Rigopulos. Likewise, MTV Senior VP for Audio, Home Video, and Games Paul DeGooyer had this to say,

Our goal was to bring a deep musical experience to Rock Band by providing not just one song by a player's favorite artist, but a carefully-chosen career-spanning array. Metallica has never been afraid to let their fans get closer, and now those fans will be able to inhabit this incredible music in a completely new way.

There have been rumors these past few days that Rock Band will only be available on Microsoft's console. Judging from the press release sent in by the companies, we can assure PS3 owners that Rock Band will still be released on their chosen console.

Just official press release stuff.

Keith Moon? Intriguing.

Did I read that right? 16 songs at release with full length album downloads after that? Sounds like this game will cost a lot more than whatever the retail price ends up being to get a decent list of songs that wont get repetitive after a week.

Yeah, I'd suppose that the total cost for game/controllers/DLC is going to be nearly the cost of another console, if the $199 figure for game and controllers is to be believed.

I didn't notice that...surely the game will ship with more than 16 songs? That would be crazy!

Check the bottom of page 4 you filthy skimmer (and buy BF2142 you cheap bastard).

So I guess we're not doing the whole "Boycott EA"-thing anymore, eh?

I'm sure some people are. It's not like all that many people here said they would in the first place. BF2, BF2142, Command & Conquer 3 are all EA games.

My bad on the former! As to the latter, I would far rather be buying it and playing with y'all tonight than dining with certain parties.

Why magnus, you're not trying to say that we're *gasp* fickle?!?

Wait, EA's making this?! How did I miss that?

[insert profanity that would blister the ears of even the most brazen pre-pubescent on X-Box Live]

The only way I can justify buying it new (not used) is if it's a publishing deal like Flagship Studios worked out with EA & Namco. EA as strictly a publishing entity for independent developers is a good thing. If EA has acquired Harmonix and is working with creative control on this, then it falls under my self-imposed boycott.

But you said you wanted to take me some place nice!

Viacom's MTV Networks acquired Harmonix. EA is publishing.
