New Ciaphas Cain novel was released a couple of weeks ago, I just got my copy.

So far, it's pretty good. The first sentence brought a smile to my face, though.

Say what you will about the tau, and I've said plenty myself over the years, they know how to put on a good war.

It is a great book. It arrived at my workplace by post. Made a mistake by opening the parcel. Could not put it down at all until I finished it, on the same day!!!!

Oh see now I am going to have to go buy it and read it on my ipad. So glad they have made the move to ebooks as well.

Picked up the ebook version to read on my pc. No complaints except for the fact that the foot notes were all at the end of the book instead of on the pages. Enjoyed it quite a bit, and made me really wish one of these books was turned into a movie.

Resurrecting this thread once again it appears.

Sounds like a lot of great reading ahead for me. A couple of questions.

Anyone listened to any of the audio books? They're abridged, but wondering if they're any good?

It sounds like all of these novels take place with in the established universe. Do any of them actually teach you about the universe? Like about the emperor, and the warp, and what all of the factions are and that sort of thing? I am fascinated by the idea of the universe itself, but have no time or interest in playing the actual game. I'd would like to learn more about the universe itself, in addition to stories that take place within it.

You want to learn about the Warp? Tell me more Heretic. *Lights Flamer*

The Horus Heresy books cover the foundation of the 40k universe as it exists currently insofar as the Space Marines vs Chaos stuff goes.

One of the 40K wikis states that the Emperor's throne is beginning to malfunction. Will the novels continue the overarching storyline about whether or not the Emperor will return?

It would be interesting to have the emperor become a warp entity but devoted to order instead of chaos.

What if all this time the emperor was a champion of Malal/malice?

Going for the Horus Heresy. Will try the audiobook. Will report back once I've completed it.

There's an audiobook? I look forward to finding out about it.

Yeah, I'd love these on audiobook, but not if they're abridged. I'm assuming they're only available from GW directly?

GW keeps a tight leash on their IP, so yea, probably.

Yes, unfortunately abridged.

If you do listen to it tell me it how it is. I listen to the Ciaphas Cain audio novel an enjoyed it quite a bit.
