someday...

While listening to your copy of the original soundtrack to Super Mario 128, no doubt?

My goodness... I was 13 when it was announced.

The following things have happened since Duke Nukem Forever was announced...

WOW. That's insane. Looking back on all of that makes me feel so old. :/

That is a great list. 10 years ago I graduated from college and my wife and I (fiance at the time) bought a Playstation from a pawn shop to celebrate my graduation to the working world. We decided to buy a new 19" TV to upgrade from our other TV and I wanted a new game system to take the place of my Genesis.

So... yeah. 10 years ago I was buying a PSX, my wife-to-be and I were planning our wedding, meanwhile basking in the glory of my entry into the hight tech field. I got a job paying $10/hr. job doing HTML and webmastering :). That was a significant upgrade over my previous job as asst. manager at Little Caesers.

The thing is, the technology has to have changed so many times that the only useful assets that could still exist from the beginning would have to be some sound effects, and maybe the plot. Knowing Duke Nukem 3D though, I seriously doubt there was any decent writing to save. Hell, I'd be surprised if anyone has written any plot for it yet. Given how long it's taken, I'd bet even any textures they'd drawn up early on are probably too low-detail for modern hardware and 3d engines.

While they've always maintained that there's some kind of continuous development cycle going for DNF, I suspect they've probably dumped everything and started over several times over the years.

Hmm if they did keep all that stuff you could play through the game and see everything improve the further you got.

That would actually be pretty awesome, and a great joke from them on us.

Hmm, they could have each level represent a year of development. That would be cool to see...
