The big "How do I choose an HDTV?" thread.

Awesome. Didn't realize TCL switched away from Roku but hope you like it

Eww, that TV is disgusting… it has DK Metcalf on it.

I set it up, and going from a non-HD TV to what I bought is a holy crap difference.

MicroLED TV’s (aka the OLED killer) aren’t coming anytime soon…2030ish.

I wonder then if it will really ever catch on. In a decade OLED will be so good and cheap people won't see the benefit of going to micro. Looks like blue OLED has been figured out recently, so I suspect we will start to see OLED get much closer to LCD brightness in a few years.

Nice! Always fun to rewatch some favorites and see the difference.

Any thoughts on this LG OLED? Our current OLED has some burn in that’s distracting, and we got some surprise money on the way so thinking this could be a good time to replace it.

Rtings review

And in the Top 8 article it's the best mid-range TV. So yeah pretty good I'd say.

One of the cons listed in that review says “One of the HDMI 2.1 ports is also the eARC port.” Why is that considered a con?

Because that's generally how you want to hook up your surround sound or sound bar. And if your bar doesn't have a passthrough then you only have one real HDMI port.

In my case my Vizio surround does have a passthrough and I plug the Switch into it, which is only 1080p anyway and doesn't need 4k HDMI or whatever anyway.

I got my new 77" G3 mounted in the bed room. Need some suggestions on sound. Old Sony soundbar not working. I was looking at a Sonos Beam 2, or Sony HT-9. Or Bose?

Master bedroom is 255 sq ft. So not a living room.

My current TV is starting to get long in the tooth so am starting to look at options available as a replacement. Here is what I am looking to use it for:

Display for my PS5, PS3, and Switch.
3rd computer monitor for watching videos not at my desk.
Currently a 42" TV, and have space to go a little bigger, but not much.
I always try to keep my room well-lit, whether with sunlight or room lights.
Budget is under $1000 USD.

Anyone have some good recommendations? As far as I can tell, they don't make non-"smart" TVs anymore.

I've got a LG C2 48" OLED in my office. Got that for for about $1200. Looks like the C3 is just under $1K at Best Buy right now. It's the best TV I've got in the house, hands down.

They are ridiculously good, visually game changing, TVs but that only appears to to be $100 below MSRP. Might as well wait until the amazon, and copycat, summer sales.
