Playstation 1 emulators. Help me play FF9

So I bought FF9 and I never played it for some reason. I have the original discs here.

Now I would like to play it on my PC, so I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a good emulator for this. Do I have to do something weird like rip the disc to my Hard drive? Or can it just stream it from the discs?

I used epsxe, which is probably the best one so far. You will need a Playstation BIOS file though, whatever you end up with.

You can play from the disc or from an ISO with daemon tools.

I tried to do the same with FFVII but the game always ended up running either a bit too fast or a bit too slow. It never worked for me, but I gave up pretty soon.

Thanks Pyro, ePSX worked for me. You have to hunt for some bios file or something and Pete's GPU plugin, but after that it seems to work. =)

I know Castlevania: SOTN works fairly well with it as well.

Do any of the PS1 emulators on the pc let you upgrade the display settings? I have some PS1 games I'd love to run with higher resolution and AA if possible. FF9 is one of those, actually!

Well, they do allow you, but it looks like crap still... I didn't mess with the settings too much, but you can definitely make it look nicer. But it still won't look like the new FFs. They're pretty old games by now, I was actually a bit shocked how crappy they looked.
