Sup. You wanna take down the force field surrounding the Death Star later? Maybe set up some primitive traps to destroy super-future war machines? Yeah? That's cool.

Nice Par. Another month or two and he could go for a ride on the dog.

Finley got on facebook, and now she wants to have a duck face picture.

It's been a while since I put up a picture or two of my dog Liara. Thought I'd give an update.

She's handled our recent move to Maryland fairly well and loves the low windows in our new apartment. "Surveying the kingdom", etc.

Still adjusting, of course.

Oh, I so want a Bengal. Gorgeous coloration and a short-hair to boot. That means I hate long-hair cats, like the one I am vacuuming after all the time.

We got Kazador (Bengal) because our other cat was lonely and afraid of being alone. Mickee was rescued due to being locked in a house for weeks on end by himself. We did a personality test on Mickee and narrowed cat breeds down to three that would watch. Then we looked at what breeds were available locally and he was the only short hair breed. We got him for pet status price because the litter was to big and the lady was worried she would not have enough time to find him a home or take care of him in house properly.

He is male, looks amazing, is very affectionate and does not pee on the walls. We are told he is the opposite of what male bengals are supposed to be...

We had him snipped a month earlier than other cats, so that could be why he does not pee. We given him MAJOR attention so I assume that is why he is so nice.

One of my wife’s co-workers came over and said that he is more work than her toddler.
For example,

We can no longer have any vegetables or bread on the counters; he eats them. Avocado is especially his favorite.

I had to put child safety locks on the garbage cupboard, which he figured out how to open it in two days.

In the morning he expects to hop into the shower with you. If you do not leave the door open he is pissy with your for the rest of the day.

If you try to train him, we have to use dog techniques. Spraying with water is not advised (he likes it), spraying with lemon water (her hates lemon) will make him hate you for a week. He is smarter than the average cat and has a long memory span and realizes you are the one spraying him not the water bottle.

We no longer have plants. He digs them up and plays with the dirt.

We cannot leave drinks unattended. He tips them over to watch water run out.

All corners of the house now have jams or covers on them – he was climbing the drywall.

Since he has wild asian spotted lepoard in him his pee is nasty.

He has colitis which is normal for Bengals and we have to feed him a special food. $$$

He has an internal clock and lets you know when he needs to eat. Same time every day.

With all that being said if you give him tons of attention he is one of the best pet I have ever owned and he does not do the bad stuff as often. He knows right from wrong and can be trained, with the proper conditions in place he does not do anything bad.

Just be warned when websites say they are a handful it is an understatement.

You will spend more time attending to his needs, cleaning the litter box, and fixing what he has destroyed than vacuuming after a long hair cat.

"In the morning he expects to hop into the shower with you. If you do not leave the door open he is pissy with your for the rest of the day."

That is so cute...

Then I read the rest of the warning list...

Yikes....

I was hoping for a turtle in cat form...

And yes. Thanks. I will choose my tag

Oh man, that's hilarious. We'd love to have a Bengal, but that does sound like a scary amount of work.

Sounds like the equivalent of a Jack Russel. But I love the coat on the Bengal. And I like a cat that's intelligent and has attitude.

That's an impressive list. Our oriental whatever mix cats are mostly just super vocal. The boy (Rascal) howls sometimes, I swear. He sounds like a hound down wailing at the moon or something. And we have to do the same about no food being out. And he likes to climb/rappel on curtains.

And we do have the bathroom/shower thing. They don't get in the shower with you but they want to be in the room. Rascal will climb on the cabinet that's right beside the shower and peer over the top at you while you shower. He will go so far as to stand his front paws on the shower curtain and lean in, but not quite get wet. After some playing around I discovered that he apparently likes to drink water from my hands. Just more of them loving running water I guess.

They definitely have that internal clock thing going on too. Lots of talking and pestering me when it's time to eat. Rascal does this thing where he stands upright and leans on my chair and taps me on the shoulder with his front paws to say "hey, feed me!".

My mom's mini-schnauzer, napping with some kittens my parents found in the shed in the back yard.

New kitty Kaylee decides to settle down for a nap on Spider's face while he's asleep.

He was asleep when she laid down and when she got up so I'm not even sure he knew she was there.

Our cats have all kinds of toys, but what's one of their favorite things? A blanket.

I figured this might be a good place to share this.

Happy thing: there's a great tumblr called A Place to Love Dogs which regularly posts up cute dog photos, interesting dog-related information, and news (good and bad) about dogs in the US. It's a nice mindless add to your RSS feeds.

Sad/Informative thing: I like the thing because one of the first posts I read on there was about a crate-related death. You can read the post on the blog. The long and short of it - Don't leave your collar on your dog if you crate them. It can - and does - lead to strangulation. This post hit home with me because a friend lost a very good dog to this exact mistake. Make sure you take off your dog's collar when you crate em', kids.

Managed to catch Haku in one of his favorite places -- the clothes basket:

Those cats love them clothes baskets.

And cardboard boxes.

My daughter and son-in-law just adopted a King Charles Spaniel. They had to leave him with us for a few days this week.

Yes. Any kind of plastic bin, ours will hop right in it.

LOL

My wife had our professional photographer friend come over to the house under the pretense that we were taking some anniversary photos, but really I think it was an excuse to get pictures of the pets. Here's Luba again, and Becker, one of our three cats.

That looks to be a Husky of some sort... The only real danger to the kid is of being licked to death unless the dog was horribly abused.

Michael,
Is that a Samoyed? It's been a while since I've seen one.

Husky phaw! Naw, he's a Malamute And you are correct dear sir, being licked to death is everyone's reality when they come to the house... although they think do sometimes think he'll eat them instead.
