Finished Any Games Lately?

I am an under-achiever. In the past 3 months I've finished:
Oblivion (PC)
Stubbs the Zombie (XBOX)
Gears of Wars (360)
Halo 2 on Hard (XBOX)

Now on Oblivion, i'm cleaning up a few guild quests, but I am essentially done. I suppose I will have to REMOVE it from my completed list temporarily once I have Knights of the Nine. That is almost a step backwards!

Games I better finish, cause I started include:
Prey (360)
GRAW (360)
Gothic 2(PC) - Not sure this will keep my attention.
Dark Messiah (PC)
Morrowind (PC) - Might as well wish myself luck on this. I am still on the mainquest with two expansion of content to go.

As far as the Backlog itself goes. I impulsively started:
Painkiller (PC) - having a blast with this for short bursts of playtime.
Vampire the Masquerade (PC)
Max Payne 2 (PC) - finished the first so must complete the second.
and yeah, you mighta seen me playing a bit of Rumble Roses XX on my gamercard. sshhhhhh.

My backlog is sooo big.... one lifetime probably would not be enough.

I finally finished Metal Arms: Glitch in the System on "Nuts of Steel" difficulty! Only took 2 years! :)

Damn, that's impressive. Metal Arms was not easy, and I played the lower difficultly levels.

Metal Arms is one of my favorite games of all time. After I beat it on normal difficulty, I started replaying it on Nuts of Steel difficulty and tried to find all the washers. I got stuck on a level and gave up-- I really need to break it out again.

Oblivion (spent about 16 hours on that one last weekend)

Oh right! Just finished the main plot last week, too bad the damn Knights content didn't work for me.

Didn't you mention in the conference call a couple weeks ago that Bethesda support helped you get your free content up and and running? ;)

I'll admit they did get the game authorized properly so it would install, I hadn't actually tried to run it yet. Even though it was showing in the data list as active, I couldn't get the quest to kick in. Then I got busy ;)

Highly recommend finishing Knights of the Nine. Finished it this morning on my day off and may go back and do it again for kicks. I can't release any spoilers but there's quite a few hints at future releases for the game to peak my interest.

I wouldn't really fuss with Tribunal. Bloodmoon on the other hand, was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. If you make it back to Morrowind, give it a shot.

How long does it take to finish the main quest in Oblivion? I want to play through this game but it's quite overwhelming for someone who has never played an RPG other than Sword of the Vermillion (Sega Genesis) and Jade Empire (Xbox). Any tips for staying on track and note getting bogged down with some many side quests, etc.

93 Confirmed, Having finished the main quest, its too easy to look back on it and see how you might power right through it ignoring all the other great questlines available. The guild and arena quest lines are really significant unto themselves.

I really dont think you can go off track, the Journal does a great job of tracking your ongoing quests objectives, auto updating them with steps completed/new objectives, and allowing you to set active quests amongst all those in your journal that are tracked more pro-actively (i.e. they affect the map interface etc.)

You wont get lost, and I think you will have a great ride along the way.

Haakon7, thanks for the tips on Morrowind. I gotta head back to it, with all the user mods I have installed, it really stands the test of time. I know already it is going to feel more hardcore going back from Oblivion to Morrowind, but it will be worth it.

Smack dab in the middle of Zelda: Twlight Princess and World 6 in New Super Mario Bros. Really wanting to splurge on an xbox 360 with GoW and R6..after reading how much fun you guys are having with them. Sigh, too many games, not enough money, so little time.

Finished Company of Heroes finally and then Super Mario on the DS. I plan on beating NWN2 during the next few weeks.

Edit: Oops, forgot Gow. Beat it on casual and hardcore without using co-op.

I'm a fickle creature when it comes to finishing games, I sometimes wish I would just sit and play a single game to completion before moving on, but alas, the stack taunts me.

Finished recently (past 3 months)
Saints Row
Gears of War - (Casual) halfway through Hardcore
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - Bar none, one of the best (post basic cinematic) end-of-game wrapups!
Company of Heroes
Defcon *chuckles*
Loco Roco

Working On
Call of Duty 2 (Veteran) just a few missions left, frustrating and exhilirating at the same time!
Viva Pinata
Final Fantasy 12
Guitar Hero

Hahaha...I saw that the other day when I was sending invites and had a WTF is he doing playing Rumble Roses though? Then, I realized you were probably just admiring the tactical wrestling abilities of the characters. Right?

So Ive been playing alot of GoW lately so still havnt gotten into NWN2.

Beat GOW on casual and hardcore.
Finished Zelda: Twilight Princess.

But other than that nothing in the last month or so.

I recently beat Gears of War on casual. I will hold off on the harder difficulty settings until Sinister gets an XBOX 360 so we can do some hot co-op action.

Seriously...I never have time to finish games. Kids, books, wife, movies, tv shows, work, games...argh! My Desktop on my PC has icons for Doom3, the CoD expansion and CoD2, Swat 4, Sacred Underworld, Oblivion, Vampire, Sin, Divine Divinity, Freedom Force v the Third Reich, Age of Wonders II, Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne, Rome, Medieval II, C&C Generals: Zero Hour, Combat Mission 1-3, Silent Storm, WH40K DoW and expansions, WH: Mark of Chaos, Battle for Middle Earth II, Company of Heroes, Space Rangers 2, Rise of Legends, NWN2, Civ 4, Pirates!, Railroads!, Guild Wars, WoW, and MtG:O. And that's just PC. Not counting PS2, Gamecube, DS, PSP, Xbox, Xbox360, PS1, N64, GBA, and Saturn games all mocking me. Argh!

I hate you people.

Why don't you just do what those folks tried to do in Minnesota (?), just trade the kids in for a PS3! You'll have lots of time to play games then!

I hear they usually go for around 30k on the black market...or you could eBay them for a few thousand.

I think just moving to Minnesota is a good step towards finishing games. So cold.

Does childbirth count as finishing a game? If so, my wife and I finished the pregnancy game in co-op. Mostly I just drove though.

That game has the best ending, bar none. After you see the initial co-op ending, I hear they introduce a new character (sometimes even more) and you get to start playing it again. This second phase of the game is even longer, they say it can last 100 years, and generally it's so addictive to the initial co-op players, that you lose a good deal of sleep for the first few months as you bring the new player characters up to speed.

Besides the lost sleep, the only drawback is that the loot can be crap in the beginning, but that didnt bother me at all, the game was so rewarding and the player interaction is just great.

Congratz on the new addition to your family

Strange. I was having this conversation with a friend last night. I came to the conclusion that the last game I finished was TitanQuest back a few months. Before that, I think it was Final Fantasy IIIUS. A month after its original release. I think I've finished about five games in my entire life. I finished the Lunar Ruins in FFIVA the other day, but that almost doesn't count because it's just extra content tacked onto a game I first finished more than a decade ago.

Irongut wrote:

I hear with the increase in birthweight of children generally, they've increased the amount and quality of the drops.

Sadly, none. I've been averaging 2-3 books a week and 0.1 games for months now.

The last time I beat a game was 2 years ago when I was single.

I would love to play more games and beat more games, but I never have the time.

Mine too, which is why I never gave up on it. On the harder difficulty levels, the Ripper gun is your friend. I basically ignored it when I played through it the first time, except for when you *have* to use it to break cords or something, but on harder levels its mandatory for getting past the Titans. A fully upgraded Ripper is very powerful. That, and liberal use of the recruiter and EMP grenades to get past some areas. Also, strategic use of the Control Tether to maximize the distance you can move into a level before you loose control of the robot you've taken over. Finally, remember that Glitch can sneak! By inching forward on the controls, he tip-toes and you can actually sneak past many of the enemies this way. I used this inconjunction with the Tether to sneak past Titans, then bait then further into a level and thus I could utilize them much further.

Ninja Gaiden:Black (Hard. Damn you flying wench!) , Gears of War, Rainbow 6 Vegas. I've been playing mostly multiplayer stuff lately (lots of Red Orchestra, occasional bouts of Il2:Sturmovik) and I have just reached Neverwinter in NWN 2. I'm still about 1/3 of the way through Knights of the Old Republic as well. Hoping to get that done soon. Oh, and Okami, and Guitar Hero 2. Oh yeah, I'm getting a Wii so I can play the copy of Zelda that has been gathering dust on my table.

Sometimes I go to work too.

Gears on my shiney new 360. I'll probably dig in to Oblivion and Viva this holiday season.

My PS2 pooped out on me. I'm thinkin' I'll get a new one here in the near future then finish up Okami and Shadow of the Colossus.

She allows TV watching because she considers it a social activity

ouch...

Not sure what timeframe defines "lately" but I just finished Okami today, FFXII last week, SCDA and Gears around then as well. Further back we got DOWDC, COH, Enchanted Arms (Play it!), Prey, and so on.

Sin what hourage am I looking at for Okami? I've put in about 10 hours so far and have killed spiderplantlady and just recently completed that crazy rapids section with the log...

The most fun memory of finishing a game is still C&C1 for me. I totally loved the story, and finishing with NOD with that amazing end movie AND getting to choose a global monument to destroy was just way more awesome then anything I've seen after that.
