Anyone playing Tiger Woods 07?

I think video game golf is kinda stupid (just go out back and chip some balls!) but my roommate turned my on to Tiger Woods. Anyone play it on the 360? Anyone getting TW '07?

No, I'm into chicks.

We used to have kick ass Tuesday night Links on the old X-Box. I would get TW07 if we could replicate that. What is the MP situation? PA's Tyco likes it but I have seen no reviews

This is the most information I could get:

Where Arnold seemed most proud was with the online multiplayer elements. Four-player matches will be easier to set up (no more fighting to load up your own golfer and finding yourself with the default Tiger) and two new gameplay modes have been added to supplement the main match play (stroke, skins, etc.). Battle Golf is match play where the winner of each hole takes a club from the opponent's bag (or opts to get back one of his own lost clubs), while One Ball puts a circle out on the course, and the shot needs to be put in the circle or you'll lose a turn, and there are shrinking circles with each subsequent shot.

Frankly I'm just happy if there is multiplayer. I was suprised how relaxing the demo is. Look at me, I'm turning into an old man of gaming!

I'm sad that the 360 version still doesn't have the same variety that the previous gen did. Still, I might get this, but not right away. Splinter Cell is coming out on the same day, and I'll definitely be online with that, a lot.

So you play video game golf or what, Legion?!?

I used to play Microsoft Golf in Windows 3.1.

Oh, and Hot Shots.

4 player multiplayer? I just need Mr Green to get it and I'm sold. Downloading the demo tonight.

The demo played rather easy compared to LINKS. But it has potential if you can make it somewhat harder.

I've downloaded the demo and will be trying it out tonight. I really miss playing video golf and have been hoping for a non-crappy version to come out for a while now. I still think Links is probably my favorite console golf game ever.

Apparently when you create a new golfer, his or her shot circle is twice as big as Tiger's, so there is a lot more course management and such. Slowly they'll get better and better.

Now called Links, a game that EA forced Microsoft to drop I believe. Sad, it was much better than Tiger Woods.

If there are regular players I may be forced to join in.

I'm definitely getting it. Tee 'em up!

Why is it any more stupid than any other sports game? Anyway, I'm gonna get it. Golf nights on Live are some of the most memorable online gaming experiences I've had. Especially considering how dominating I was!

Since when?

um.... it's not coming to me.... Perhaps it has to do with taking a physical activity and reducing it to something you can play without moving your body or even your head.

I'm not sure I'm following you here. I mean yeah, sure it's important to get off your ass on a regular basis and I do play real golf in the summer and hockey in the winter as well as training on a regular basis but sports games are lamer because I can do the real thing in real life as opposed to I dunno, let's say squash people with a huge japanese robot?

I didn't mean it like gamers were lazy. No, more like, if you had the chance to race an F1 formula car for your living, would you really be satisfied by playing a game about it? Better put: would you take virtual sex over real sex? Don't answer that! I prefer doing things I know I'll never do in real life. I've played football, golf, baseball, etc. I can't fight dragons, fly an X-wing, and hopefully I'll never shoot someone. But I love pluggin sheoples in GTA!

It's just a stupid idea of mine. I've decided, I'm buying this game tomorrow. Feeding that beast that I hate so much. I'll let you know my impressions.

Sports often translate into good gameplay. Plus, you get to kick Swampy's butt on a regular basis!

I agree with both sentiments from part (a) of your quote. Tuesday night golf (which will probably have to be moved to a different night now) was always a blast and I'm hoping we can set something up on a weekly basis again.

However, for the record I would like to take issue with portion (b). It wasn't until after you tilted the playing field by boosting up your golfer's stats that you won golf with any regularity. So there ... doofus.

The end justifies the means, jerk. Your venom has no effect on those sweet memories of domination!.

You mean like how a massive number of NFL players play Madden in their free time?

I like Green's take. A good game is a good game. Virtual golf isn't real golf, it's virtual golf and it's fun entirely in its own right.

Good points. Like I said, it is stupid, I've got the game on reserve and pick it up tomorrow.

Something about sim sports games, the more real they get, the more I want to throw the controller down and go do that thing. I get it bad in racing games like GT and PGR, because I know its physically possible to race those tracks even if my chances are slim to none. Play Madden and I want to grab the footbal and my roommates and head out in the street. It's bad with golf because we've got a bucket of balls in the backyard and chip into the pool

I love shooters, but I think if I had to shoot someone in real life I'd be revolted. I'd do it if I had to, in a time of war or in protection of my family, but I wouldn't "enjoy" it. And paintball just sucks.

Ok, I got it, my roommate and I played 18 holes. TW 07 is fun, pretty much exactly like the demo. I've never bought a golf game before, so I have no frame of reference. There is a "boost" button that I was worried you need to mash with every swing, but you only really use it wihen you need to go that little bit extra. In some cases the boost hurts. There is 4 player online play, with all kinds of weird variations, like the winner of a hole removes one club from the loser, or One Ball in which everyone shares the same ball and alternates hitting it. I can't compare it to Links since I've never played that game, but there are only 12 courses, and a very nice create a golfer mode.

I got it as well. So far I've only created my golfer, done the tutorials and upgraded my skills a bit in the challenges. Well it's better than I expected. It's pretty darn hard too! Looking forward to play with you girls!

Souldaddy, I should probably RTFM but this "boost" button isn't clear to me. You have to mash the A or LB while you swing? Also, I think that contolling the spin of the ball after you've hit the ball is a little odd.

Yes, mashing the A or LB while swinging. I don't particularly like it, because it takes my mind away from the swing. The spin is weird too. However, there is still a lot of strategy so the game gets a thumbs up.

In my opinion, allowing the player to change the spin on the ball after the swing is the dumbest thing ever introduced in a golf game. Fortunately, at least in TW06(360), you could set it on "tour" difficulty which removed after-hit spin, made the swing more sensitive to direction errors, and got rid of the ideal putt camera. In that mode, it becomes a pretty good video game golf.

There are 4 skill levels: Easy, Normal, Hard and "Tour" or something like that. The ideal putt camera is only there on Easy, though.

So who has this and who wants to play a few tourneys?

I believe I'll be getting my copy a week from today. And I will be in for any sort of multiplayer you guys can come up with.

I am working some angles.

Seriously, I will pick this up as soon as I can. Hopefully within a few weeks. If you guys aren't sick of hearing about it by now, you will be, but this whole house selling / house building thing has my cash flow pretty restricted until the present house sells.

WEEKS!?

Just set the god damn thing on fire and collect the insurance.

Is the match-making as bad as Penny-arcade makes it sound?

Think I'm gonna pick this up tonight for some GWJ gaming. Been enjoying the 360 so far, but haven't met up with any of you online yet. Have gotten some additions o my friends list, though. Now if we can actually play some games.
