I had a sick day today. And I watched all of Cowboy Bebop again today. That is suck a great show. Anyway, what do you guys like to watch on a sick day?
If I'm really sick I watch Battlestar Galactica. The show is so dark I always feel better. If I'm playing hooky I play WoW.
Master and Commander, Blade Runner, and Band of Brothers.
I just had a sick half-week, I'm still sick, and I watched the entire first season of Rome while playing Rome:Total war and Caesar IV.
Easy.
Poker, poker, and some more poker. Caught the 2004 Tournament of Champions again the other day. I could watch Annie Duke put Phil Hellmuth on tilt all day long.
High Stakes Poker is now showing all of both season 1 and season 2 back to back every Monday night. If the game gets boring, you should really check this out on GSN. Gabe Kaplan is actually a fantastic poker commentator and this series is probably the best poker you will find on television anywhere. Tournament poker is fun, but hight stakes cash games are not for the weak-hearted. Calling 20 or 30 grand of your own cash on a flush draw is pretty intense. Daniel Negreanu is worth watching alone.
Seriously. WPT, PPT, WSOP, HSP, CPS, Poker Superstars. I love it all. Except speed poker. That really sucks.
First, the Price is Right. What he @#%% is the matter with you people?
Then Chinatown, or Jaws, or Beverly Hills Cop.
That's right.
Beverly Hills Cop. Banana in the tail pipe and everything.
First, the Price is Right. What he @#%% is the matter with you people?
Doh! You're right. Price is Right is mandatory sick day TV. Then poker. Did I mention I really like to watch poker?
Movies:
Fight Club
Big Trouble in Little China
Time Bandits
Band of Brothers
Romancing the Stone
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Flux that is one of the best movie lists I've ever seen in my life.
Price is Right is definitely mandatory. Mostly because you watch it and it's almost exactly like it was when you had a sick day when you were 7. It's like being transported back in time. You can almost imagine mom getting some chicken soup ready for you. It's comfort TV. I think the only thing that's changed on the show are the products. And even then there's no Tivo or iPod. It's just newer models of the same old stuff and they still have people guessing the price of detergent and playing Pachinko. Ahhhh.....
The modern shows I'd put in that category... Montel.... Maury.
Porn PORN PORN!
Sportscenter and NFL Live...over and over again.
I usually have the wife grab the following from my DVD rack...
Family Guy season 1 box set
All of the even number Star Trek movies
Star Wars Original Trilogy box set
Anything starring "Ahnold", usually Predator
It's gotten to be so bad that any time I get the sniffles or throw my back out she asks if she should get "my comfort movies".
Firefly.
MST3K and Dr. Katz.
Anime from sun up to sun down is the way to go. Cowboy Bebop would be one of my first choices along with Trigun. Just watched Macross Zero last week and Samurai X Betrayal today, man thats some good stuff. Beyond that the choices are vast so I'll keep the rest to myself. You know it's not nice to make people want to be sick
My favorite "Not Feeling Well" movie is Conan the Barbarian. After that, endless Futurama.
The Seven Samurai
The Discovery/History/NationalGeographic/Animal Channel.
Or better yet, if there's a channel showing Mr.Wizard/WhatWillTheyThinkOfNext/321Contact.
Failing that, Bewitched/IDreamOfJeanie/GomerPyle works.
Edit: If TCM is being really nice to you, they might run Bridge on the River Kwai or Lawrence of Arabia.
I have not been sick since I got food poisoning back when I started high school in '99. Even then all I could really do was run to the bathroom and play Indiana Jones on the PC.
Best sick day movie in my honest opinion: Ferris Bueller's Day Off. See, cuz he's taking a sick day.
you win.

Correct on so many levels. Especially the prizes part. Microwave ovens, custom kitchens, refrigerators, color TVs - all that "Money for Nothing" chorus stuff.
Sportscenter and NFL Live...over and over again.
Yeah pretty much.
I like to watch Labyrinth or Holy Grail when I'm sick. Haven't been sick in a while, though - though I have had this naggy cough for the past month.

Damn right!
Had a day off sick last week and ended up watching an old TV movie of Hart to Hart.
It hasn't aged well......
I like to watch that awful VH1 'celebreality' programming. Something about its awfulness always makes me feel better, probably by comparison.
Also, Beauty & The Beast always cheers me up when I'm feeling under the weather. That and Futurama.
If I'm too sick to go to work, I'm usually on some sort of medication that puts me to sleep. So, I will just put the TV on SciFi and fall asleep watching whatever is on.
On sick days when I was younger, I used to make sure to watch reruns of Hogan's Heroes. Man, I love that show.
I haven't had a real sick day since my fifteenth birthday, which I celebrated with the then-new-on-tape Matrix. Oh god, I'm old.
Last winter I was really really sick. I had a high fever. I was on the edge of delerium. I slept in the guestroom so I wouldn't keep my wife up all night.
Anyway, she came downstairs at around 2 because she heard something, and I was wandering around in a winter parka and her winter knit hat. The purple one with a big knit flower on it. Moaning. It wasn't pretty.
Anyway, Meister Eckhart's got nothin on me, man. THAT was the dark night of the soul.
When you're shivering from 104 fever at 2 am there is only one thing to get you through it. The unabridged British Lord of the Rings book-on-tape. It's something like 40 casettes or something. Oh man, it was a goodsend.
I felt the weight of the ring, man. I FELT THE EYE!
