Next Gen Soccer only on X360?

So, as I'm sure some have noticed, the scuttlebut today is that MS has locked up both FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Winning Eleven 10?) as Xbox 360 exclusives for the next year.

Well, sorta. It sounds like it's really keeping these from appearing on the PS3 and Wii for a year. Also, I've not seen enough info to know if this applies in all territories or not, but for Europe this would seem big.

So, I'm an Xbox fanboy, but this sounds a little dangerous to me. What happens if the Wii locks up Madden rights? or NHL? Are we gonna' have to own different consoles to play different sports?

(Although, after reading Legion's rant about Madden 07 on the 360 and having played Madden 06 on said box, should I care if the X360 doesn't get NFL football? Well, yes. I'm a sucker for football....)

I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's not usually worth it to restrict your game to one console these days. In this case, I suspect they weren't really intending PS3 versions of the games until Fall of 2007 anyways, given the extra cost of developing a port for a platform with limited numbers in its first year.

EA made a GREAT football game. Quite possibly better than 2K5, I have to play more to be certain, but the outlook is good.

They just didn't make it for the 360. Upon further review, the 360 game isn't complete trash. It's just inferior to the current-gen game.

Once next-gen becomes the current-gen, EA will focus enough development on those systems to make the game great.
