Vancouver vacation advice needed

I'm going to fly to Vancouver for a week in mid-September. I have no specific ideas about how I might spend my time there. I like doing outdoorsy things, don't mind driving a bit (like up to Whistler for instance) and presumably would have a car. I particularly seek information regarding the best poutine in British Columbia. Help. Thank you.

September is a good time for a Goodjer slap-and-tickle.

My wife and I had our honeymoon in Vancouver (in early october). The drive up to Whistler is definitely nice, and there's some cool scenery on the way, including Stawamus Chief - the second-largest granite monolith in the world.

Stanley Park in the city of Vancouver is one of the biggest urban parks in the world, and is worth visiting. We enjoyed our hike along the seawall. If I remember correctly, the Vancouver aquarium is in the park, and it's definitely worth a trip.

There are a lot of good seafood and asian restaurants in the city, and it's definitely worth trying some new restaurants. There's a microbrewery in gas town with surprisingly good beer. Try their pumpkin ale - it might be in season while you're there.

There's a cool bar in... a bay.. in the city. Near Vancouver Island, I think. It's called 'Marmalade'. If you make it there ask for the manager, Ash, and say Idgaf sent you. I don't think you'll get a discount, but my mate will get a bit of a shock.

Near Vancouver Island

That's an entire Island with several towns and the capital of BC, to be close to it you have to on an island near the island.

Stanley Park is great, Whistler is a few hours drive and quite hot but well worth it.

How long are you in Vancouver? I have three tickets to Canucks games and they start around end September early October. If it works out me you and another goodjer (Morro, Swat, etc.) could go.

I looked up the address:

NAME: marmalade kitchen and bar
ADDRESS: 1010 Beach Avenue, Vancouver
REGION: Downtown
TYPE: Lounge/Bar
PHONE: 604-689-7800
VIEWED: 2976 time(s)
RATING: 83.50

It's a swish sort of place. They've had after-show parties for film types there and such.

QFT, good sir!

As to stuff to do, I'd say mostly outdoors stuff, and the tourism stuff. September isn't really prime skiing time, so that cuts down on it, a bit. If the weather's good, the Grouse Grind is always fun (and tiring.) Vancouver is one of the five big food centers in North America, so plan to eat out at a different place, each night.

Holly donut...

I can already see myself going to liposuction three times a year. Trying out all sorts of food is one of my hobbies. It looks like I'll be busy there.

I visited Van about six years ago. I really liked it. I'd love to live in Canada for a while, if I were able.

Thanks for the advice, everybody. Hockey is a really nice offer, but will probably not work as I will have the G.F. along, but if her personality changes radically in the next couple of weeks I will let you know.

You could always try an aerial tour from a chopper or seaplane. Haven't done it myself yet, but I hear they're it's fun.
