The sheer level of anticipation in this thread has actually made me think about buying an XBOX 360 just to play this game.
I completely understand. It's completely ridiculous what with the game coming out today and all. But I understand
If the name is cool, I don't care what the name is. I like Weiner Bombers, how bout 101st Weiner Bombers?

Our plan seems to be working... quickly; we need to call Microsoft to proceed with final stage of their plan!

A winner is you!

Sounds good, but it may be too long. Lets take it to the polls!
IGN review... 6.9

Yeah. Same complaint as everywhere else: slow. At least he seemed to have given the online modes a fair shake.

Frankly, after IGN gave Titan Quest such an unfair shakedown (I got bored and quit in Greece 'cause all you do is kill stuff!) and Prey such a softball review (it's pretty! yar!), I'm really questioning their ability to give fair reviews.
I've also noticed that most reviews of Chromehounds whine about it being "slow". From what I've read, I bet if they were reviewing good old Mechwarrior 2 right now they'd call it "slow" as well.

Indeed. The only thing I'm worried about is enough diversity in combat. I hope it doesn't become "point and shoot and see who falls down first".
I think just mastering mech design is enough juice for me.
Anyone ever play Carnage Heart? The one where you had to design AI for Mass
Produced Mechs? That was sweet.
From what I've been hearing, it sounds like the parts you get from Single Player aren't even all that good and the best parts are purchased through the online war part of the game, so if the campaigns are as bad as they sound skipping them might be valid.

Unless you are a completist.
Also, it is always good to have a wide variety of parts for the times when you are designing for style rather than function (or trying to mix the two).
GT.tv gave it a 7.4!
I took a chance and bought it on the way home from work. I was really dubious about this game since the demo didn't come out fisrt. I should have waited for the demo, but I haven't bought a new game since oblivion and I was just itching for one.
My g/f has the whole night planned out with all of her shows. So I didn't have alot of time to play before "So you think you can dance" comes one. I was able to play the first training mission, and all the controls seem easy enough so far. The mech did seem to crawl, but it wasn't enough to bother me. What did bother me was the graphics. The landscape seems so bland, and the destruction of the tanks just wasn't satisfying enough. A puff of smoke with and explosion and they fade away?
Take this all with a grain of salt since I haven't gotten past the tutorial. I still think I'm going to like this game, and I hope the graphics get better. I like it better than Steel Battalion so far, now that game was a let down for how much it cost.
So... I bought a bunch of parts online and can't seem to use them offline. Can anyone confirm this?
Yeah. Online parts are for online games only. Offline parts go both ways. I guess they felt that the online parts would make the single player too easy.
Souldaddy, you joined Tarakia, right? How is the parts selection in your shop? One of the complaints I read about fighting for the underdogs is that they have very few parts available. To compare, I have anywhere from like 4 to over a dozen items in each part category in Sal Kar.
I got lucky. Gamefly is shipping Chromehounds. Should be here by Friday.
Remember that we'll be able to trade parts once we're in the same squad. So don't hesitate to pick up souveniers you think the others might be interested in. ;D
Yeah, I spent all my cash buying random crap. I'm going to try to do some of the online "individual missions" to raise some more cash and buy some more stuff before we set up our official squad tomorrow.
(Oh, one other note from reading the instruction manual: I think that after your first connection to the online game, you can't import parts/patterns from offline to online anymore. Not a big loss, I guess, since from looking at the Sal Kar shop and the parts I got from single player, the offline parts appear to be identical to basic parts available in the shop, but with worse statistics. That is to say, you are better off just buying the online version of the part since it will be higher quality. As for the patterns, there were dozens of cool ones available in the online shops for very little cost, so no big whop there. By the by, you really do get assloads of cash to start with, so don't worry about that much either.
Still, as a warning to anyone who hasn't logged on to Xbox Live yet, just be aware that the first time you do may be your only chance to import offline parts to the online game. I'll test this to be sure later tonight, though (after Zombie Skate).
Is anyone else getting shearing, like vsynch is off?
You can manually import single-player booty. So no worries.
Yeah, I was wrong, wrong, wrong. The instruction manual says that after your first login single player stuff is not "automatically" imported. It turns out that what that means is if you go straight from the title screen to Xbox Live it will not import. However, if you go into the single player, then choose "move to Xbox Live" it WILL import. So yeah, sorry to have been a bit of an alarmist.
Is anyone else getting shearing, like vsynch is off?
I'm getting that too.
A little, and I've heard the complaint before.
I won a lottery! I got me a big-ass Sal Kar cannon.
Sweet! So did I. I got a suped up mobility system device with a bit hgher speed than the best on in the normal shop and about twice (twice!) the best acceleration in the shop.
As long as it's not just me. I'm not as overjoyed with the customization as I thought I'd be. While you can put decals anywhere, it seems like you're really limited in the decals you can choose from.
I made a wiener bomb decal that will crack you up when you see how I did it. Looks like the real thing, though!
There were at least five of you dirty weasels playing this last night around 10 PM CST. Any new online play impressions!?
