Razr V3 (Cingular) - PC software

Anyone know of any freeware software that I can use to edit the contacts on my Razr V3 phone from my PC? I know I can buy Motorola's software but I'd like to find something free if possible. Thanks!

can you not connect via a Bluetooth or USB connection to your PC and simply use the built in synch with Outlook?

Nope. I have a L7 which uses the same OS as the Razr. To even charge the Razr you must have drivers installed.

All the more reason to buy all your cell phones unbranded and unlocked... screw the carrier!

I found drivers that let me use the phone via a standard mini usb cable to charge it. But those didn't help me the address book.

My company bought it or I would have done just that!

hey paint gotta linky for those drivers? and did you have to use a special cable, or just a mini usb cable?

Any regular USB cable. I use my sony usb cable from my camera on the go.

thanks edwin....thats exactally where my mini usb cable came from so good to hear!

I just searched on google for Motorola V3 razr USB Driver... I forget where I got them.. Motomodders.com maybe?

Yeah I managed to find them....suprised there is no official sight though. Maybe they want you to think you have to buy thier cable?

So then noone knows where to find software that lets me (un)load pictures, files, ringtones, etc and maybe edit the contacts other than from motorola?

I spent an evening searching far and wide for some alternative, and I came up (mostly) empty. The only thing I found was called MobilEdit http://www.mobiledit.com. The interface was very clunky and difficult to understand. I tried it, and it sort of worked for a minute, then lost the connection to the phone. At that point I had been searching for a few hours and I gave up in disgust.

Perhaps you'll have better luck with it than I, but I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy Motorola's software from Verizon. (I have the V3m). Once upon a time I might have had the patience to figure out how to make mobiledit work, but at this point it's worth the $30 or so to just purchase the 'official' software.

Motorola V3 USB Driver:
You can get the best information on USB drivers, transferring pictures, software and useful guides at: http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/01/motorola-razr-v3-how-to-charge-and.html

Bitpim is a free tool that I've had some success using for this purpose on Motorola phones.

As I mentioned above, I ended up just buying Motorola Phone Tools, so I haven't used it in a while.

It appears it now supports far more cellphones than the last time I looked at it.
