Home wireless problem?

Yesterday during Halo night I was lagging pretty badly. My 360 uses a wireless adapter. I checked every computer in the house to see if anything was running that would be eating my bandwidth. Then I noticed that my girlfriend was on her laptop. She wasn't actually doing anything on it - no torrents or anything. I asked her to shut it off and voila, connection fixed. Could her wireless connection be causing interference?

Is hers a B rather than a G card? I 'think' B/G routers will drop to the lower speed (for wifi) for all clients if there's an active connection that requires the B signal.

I'm guessing it's a B. I'll check that out. Does it drop THAT much though? I'm talking 1 red bar on Halo.

That's the flip side of the scenario, I don't know.

Something may be chatting from her laptop (unwittingly) run some spyware sweeps from different vendors, Hijack This if you know what's a valid vs invalid process.

It could still be 'interferance' but has it always been this way or is this the first time you've both been online wifi at the same time? What happens if she moves closer or farther from the access point does the Xbox get better reception?

"B" speed should be more than enough for an online game like Halo. WAAY more than enough.

Your g/f's machine has spyware and other bandwidth-leeching niceties. Maybe zombie attack bots ?

Let the investigation commence. I need to find some CSI music.
