"Snakes On A Plane"

I'm going to stand beside burntham77 on this one, I hated Napoleon Dynamite.

Napolean Dynamite was a so-so film at best. What really makes it hateable are all the people running around saying each and every line ad nauseum. That sort of shenanigans nearly ruined Chappelle's Show.

Your mom ruined Chapelle's Show.

Look, just because she went around for a month saying "I'm Rick James, bitch," doesn't mean we should be dragging her into this, you zebra bastard.

I liked Napoleon Dynamite, but I am a big fan of understated, character-driven movies like that. (see: Waiting for Guffman, House of Yes)

Not that I'm putting ND on the same level as Waiting for Guffman, mind you.....

And yes, repeating catch phrases is obnoxious no matter what the source.

This would be kinda creepy, the airplane will be running the AC while at altitude. So the only place a snake can go for warmth is your friendly, local human.

Crap, I did just type that.

Ok, they need to add a mongoose to the cast. Riki Tiki Tavi at 26,000 feet with Jules Winnfield and a piece of carry-on luggage. For the Win.

A couple new things, not really worth starting a whole new thread over...

It's been discovered exactly where the plot of this movie came from.. SNL of course, back in 1998. I looked everywhere for a video of the skit but couldn't find it, perhaps someone else's google-fu is stronger.

I also came across this amusing "unofficial" audio trailer for the movie. It had me smiling, but I wasn't really laughing until about 2 minutes into it.. Oh.. and ya, NSFW (bad language motherf*cker) after the 2 min mark.

So... it IS a comedy, right?

Napoleon Dynamite was hilarious. If you didn't know people just like that in high school, well, then maybe you were the Napoleon.

I honestly didn't know anyone like that in high school or elementary school. I certainly wasn't Napoleon Dynamite, not even similar.

Did you go to school in Canada? Because, OK, you guys have a whole different set of problems.

I never knew anyone like Napolean (not to that level, anyhow) and I still thought the movie was hysterical.

Hi-larious!

Courtesy of iMDB:

"Pulp Fiction star Samuel L. Jackson was so amused by the title of new movie Snakes On A Plane, he signed up without reading the script. The movie features an assassin who intends to kill a passenger on a flight by releasing a batch of deadly snakes. Jackson explains, "I didn't even read the script - I just saw the title, 'Snakes on a Plane' and said 'Ok, good. I'm there.' You have got to love that. That's exactly what it is - 500 poisonous snakes released on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles. They are (set free) on a time release half-way there, so we can't go back, we've got to keep going. It's fun!""

Samuel L. Jackson rocks. That is probably one of the funniest things that I have ever read.

Samuel L. Jackson rocks

That's one Bad Mother f***er.

Actually you gotta love when actors have so much money they don't even care what movie they play in anymore.

Actually, Sam sounds like he's having fun with it. Any other actor with cred probably would have waited for the check to clear the bank and not said anther word about the movie.

There was thing on viral marketing in Wired a month or two back regarding this movie as it's already looking to be so bad that it's funny. The producers were thinking of changing the name but Samuel L said he'd not do it/quit if they did.

I am looking the hell forward to this movie.

As someone who is told at least once a month that he talks like Napoleon Dynamite, I can safely say that I hate that movie.

Trailer can be seen here.

"Enough is enough! I've had it with these snakes!"

This movie is going to be so f*cking brilliant it redefines the word. Especially since the line "SNAKES on a motherf*cking PLANE" is supposed to be in the movie.

err, you guys are really excited by this movie?

More than I thought humanly possible. It's snakes. On a plane.

IMO it is movies like this that is causing people to go to the theaters less and less...

No, it's movies like Ultraviolet that cause people not to go to the theaters. Movies like Snakes on a Plane uphold a standard of excellence to which no mortal moviemaker can reasonably ascend. For that reason, I'm confident that Snakes on a Plane was commissioned by God, and Samuel Jackson is, literally, on a holy mission. (Did you miss that part in Genesis? "Yea, and on the sixth day, God said, "Let there be Snakes On A Plane!" And it was good.")

So when is this coming out, anyway? Should we organize a Snakes on a Plane Slap and Tickle?

Well, according to RottenTomatoes.com, Aug 18th. Honestly, when I first heard about this film I would have never thought it would come this far. The meer fact that it's being released gives me hope that it'll be a fun watch.

August 18th, motherf*cker.

That trailer has got me psyched. Oblivion and now Snakes On A Plane... this is going to be a good year.

Sam has a tendancy to go for REALLY stupid movie ideas just so he can be the sole redeeming factor. The one with genetically engineered, hyper intelligent sharks was just so horrifically bad that the smell of steamy vomit in the theatres must have been overwhelming. And yet, that ONE scene in which he tries to calm folks down only to get swallowed whole by a great white was worth the price of admission.

Same goes double for the Star Whores series.
