7900GT? Where are you?

Was the release of the 7900GT's just a marketing thing? Everyone is sold out. NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, Amazon. They're no where to be found. I really wanted one over a 7800GT because the 7900GT supposedly consumes far less power than the 7800GT, and I didn't want to have to upgrade my power supply. So sad.

other than that it's as powerful as a 7800GTX and cost less .

the price performance ratio of the 7900GT is very high . in a local israeli hardware site it's practicaly the only card they recomend for any system that its budget alows . it cost about 425$ including tax(16.5%) in israel . the cheapest 7900 GTX is 750$ ,x1900xt is about 725$ . x1900xtx cost about 750$ like GTX . going down a notch and taking 7600GTX will cost about 293$ (30% cheaper and about 40% less powerful).

in my opinion it's all linked to the underpricing of this card people see a good deal and empty the stock. recently one of the shops that tried to undercut everyone else raised thier price by about 35$ to match other distributers prices - it's still considered a good buy because the alternatives cost a whole lot more and give a whole lot less.

They were available everywhere for a couple of weeks. Newegg's gotten them back in and sold out twice now I think since release.

I just got my MSI 7900GT from ZipZoomfly yesterday. Don't forget to double check the actual product link and not just the search results - I've found a couple of items that were 'in stock' but not listed as such in the search results.

Hooray for zipzoomfly! No tax (saves almost 10% here in Tennessee) and free shipping.

The Tech Report has an article up on the subject. nVidia reports that there are no production problems but rather the card is simply selling as fast as it's coming in.

We gamers are an odd bunch.. sold out $300+ VideoCards all the while bitching about a $2.99 download thats cheaper than a Bottled Spring Water..
