Wireless mouse/keyboard for gaming?

With my new comp, I got the Logitech Wireless Desktop MX5000, which has the MX1000 mouse and a decent keyboard, both wireless through Bluetooth. Well, it turns out that this set blows. Physically, both the mouse and the desktop are phenominal. But Bluetooth isn't. The mouse is VERY laggy (goes from barely acceptable to almost unbelievably bad.) I've (belatedly,) seen a number of user reviews complaining about the exact same thing. I tried playing HL2 with this set, and it was almost impossible. I kept running into walls, or off of ledges, because of the incredibly bad mouse lag. But I've still got the reciept, and I'll be (trying to,) return it, tomorrow.

My question is, should I go with the very similar MX3100, which uses more standard RF technology, and has no reports of lag, as far as I've seen. Really, are wireless mice/keyboards any good for gaming, or should I just stick with the corded variety?

If you like the Logitech wireless mice my current understanding is that the newish G7 is absolutely the way to go for gaming.

Personally, I just stick with corded mice. If that's the route you choose either the MX518 or the G5 are excellent mice that work great for gaming.

As for the keyboard suggestion, I have no experience with wireless keyboards and thus have no real recommendations of any value.

But I would definitely get the G7 if I were going for a wireless mouse.

Absolutely seconded. The G7 is totally lag-free, I love the two battery-system, and the easy to adjust sensitivity. Only problem I see is that it gets dirty fairly quickly because of the plastic fabric. But that really is a minor quibble, really.

Don't know anything about wireless keyboards though.

The G7 is delicious.

Absolutely no qualms with this piece of wireless hardware. Can't offer any help on the keyboard though.

Thanks for the G7 reccomendation, guys! I returned the MX-5000 bundle, and got enough store credit (Best Buy,) to buy the G7 (at 50 dollars off, due to a sale,) and a corded logitech keyboard, AND have enough left over to get Galactic Civilizations 2, without paying a cent. Great trade, and GREAT mouse. I love the two-battery concept, and the scroll wheel is infinitely better than on the MX1000. This mouse responds flawlessly. And really, who needs a wireless keyboard? It's not like I do any long-distance gaming.

I say stay away from wireless keyboards. Despite what we usually think, keyboards are fairly complex, and the wireless ones tend not to be good for gaming. Last thing any gamer want is to have lags or weirdness happen during a game that is caused by their keyboard. Also I don't think there are any wireless keyboards that provides a recharging station, which means that you better have an extra set (up to 4 batteries) of batteries handy.

I have a Logitech MX-Laser (MX-1000) which is absolutely for BF2 (while I played) it and CS.

Arise thread!

Can anyone recommend me a decent wireless mouse/keyboard? Doesn't have to be high end, but I do play lots of fps games so I'd like some accuracy for a wireless model.

What I do require though is that the transmitter be a single usb dongle to plug in the front ports instead of the transmitter being connected to a long usb cable which is meant to be dropped behind a desk. I would like to occasionally plug the dongle into my laptop for the mouse or my Xbox for the keyboard.

In my opinion, you should always do wired controllers for fast action games.

I'm a big fan of the Logitech MX and M305 mice. I've used them for gaming for a long time and I think they work really well.

This. I used to use wireless stuff, but gave it up. Wired is vastly superior. If you absolutely have to have wireless, Logitech makes the best stuff out there.
