amaroK 1.4 beta

Just wondering if any of the other Linux users here are using amaroK, particularly the betas of the new 1.4 line.

iPod support has gotten to the point where I can divorce myself of iTunes completely (I had been running iTunes in VMWare until now). It even handles the quirks of tagging podcasts so that they will show up in the separate "Podcasts" section on the iPod.

I haven't been using the beta... if it's out there prepackaged in a repository, I'll give it a go, though. Any changes to the dynamic playlist stuff? I'd hoped they'd beef it up some.

I haven't messed with dynamic playlists, either before or now. So I can't help ya there.

Me, I just want something to manage my portable music player, and let me get to specific albums for the few times I actually do listen from my computer.

what...you havent loaded Linux on your Ipod yet? shame!

Just got it working... had to delete the preferences folder for some reason, but works great now. Seems to be mostly the same - the dynamic stuff seems identical, but I think the smart playlists are a new (and nice) touch. They also went ahead and trimmed a couple of unneeded tabs, which was nice.

Was the scripting ability always there? I just noticed it tonight... it seems really nifty, with a few useful scripts and - per the usual Linux form - a few very cool and very strange scripts. Build your own IR remote, anyone?

No, my computer is for computing. My portable music player is for music.

Yeah, it's a bit cleaner, and some basic additions to the podcast client functions are welcome additions.
